Went and brought a new member of the family to see the vet at vetco. What a huge mistake. The guy at the Peabody location is very rude and unprofessional. Never listen to the customer and disrespectful. I will not recommend. Love your babies and get them the best treatment with love and care. Buyer be ware! You've been warned!

Welcome to Vetco Vaccination Clinic
Vetco Vaccination Clinic, located at 10 Sylvan St, Peabody, MA 01960, USA, operates primarily within the "Pet Hospital" platform category, though its specific focus is on providing accessible and affordable preventative veterinary care, particularly vaccinations. Unlike a full-service veterinary hospital that offers comprehensive medical, surgical, and emergency services, Vetco Vaccination Clinic focuses on essential wellness services designed to keep pets healthy and protected against common diseases. This model aims to fill a crucial gap in pet healthcare, providing vital preventive care that might otherwise be cost-prohibitive for some pet owners.
The Vetco Vaccination Clinic in Peabody is typically situated inside Petco stores, a common operational model for these clinics across the United States. This co-location is designed to offer convenience for pet owners, allowing them to combine pet care visits with their regular pet supply shopping. The environment within a retail store setting means that the clinic's atmosphere is integrated into the broader store layout, which can vary in terms of quietness and dedicated space. While it aims to be convenient, the nature of a high-volume, walk-in or appointment-based clinic within a retail environment might lead to a less private or traditional veterinary office feel.
The primary focus of Vetco Vaccination Clinic is on efficiency and affordability. This is achieved through a streamlined service model that typically doesn't include comprehensive physical exams or diagnostic work-ups for complex health issues. Instead, the process is structured to handle vaccinations, microchipping, and basic preventative treatments efficiently. Clients are generally advised to schedule appointments, although the real customer reviews indicate that even with appointments, wait times can be significant, sometimes extending to an hour or more. The operational structure, while intended to be accessible, sometimes faces challenges in managing patient flow and ensuring individualized attention, as reflected in customer feedback regarding feeling rushed or misunderstood.
Vetco Vaccination Clinic specializes in a limited, yet crucial, range of preventative veterinary services for dogs and cats. These services are typically offered at a lower cost compared to full-service veterinary hospitals, as they do not include examination fees for vaccinations or basic preventative treatments. Key services commonly provided include:
Vaccinations: This is the core service. Vetco offers a variety of essential vaccines for dogs and cats, including rabies, distemper, parvovirus, adenovirus, parainfluenza, bordetella (kennel cough), and feline leukemia. They often provide vaccine packages (e.g., "Dog Shield" packages) that bundle several necessary vaccinations for a competitive price.
Microchipping: To aid in pet identification and reunification if a pet becomes lost, microchipping services are a standard offering.
Deworming: Treatment for common intestinal parasites is typically available.
Heartworm Prevention: While comprehensive heartworm testing may be part of their offerings (often bundled in packages), the clinic also provides prescription heartworm preventatives.
Flea and Tick Solutions: Prescription flea and tick preventatives are generally available, providing protection against external parasites.
Basic Wellness Checks: While not a full physical exam, a basic vital check usually accompanies vaccination services to ensure the pet is healthy enough to receive vaccinations.
It is important for pet owners to understand that Vetco Vaccination Clinic is not equipped for complex medical conditions, emergencies, or surgical procedures. For such needs, pets would need to be referred to a full-service veterinary hospital or an emergency clinic.
The primary features of Vetco Vaccination Clinic are its affordability and convenience. The no-exam-fee model for vaccinations makes essential preventative care more accessible to a broader range of pet owners. The presence within Petco stores adds to the convenience, allowing for combined shopping trips.
However, customer reviews for the Peabody location, and Vetco clinics in general, highlight some significant challenges in the customer experience. Common themes in negative feedback include:
Long Wait Times: Despite appointments, clients often report excessive waiting periods, indicating potential issues with scheduling or patient flow management.
Customer Service Issues: Reviews frequently mention instances of rude, unprofessional, or disrespectful staff members. This includes a lack of attentiveness to customer concerns, unwillingness to listen to pet owners' insights about their pets' behavior (e.g., how to best administer shots), and a perceived lack of empathy or care towards the animals.
Aggressive Handling of Animals: One severe complaint details a veterinarian being aggressive with a kitten, leading to the animal scratching the vet due to fear and being held down. This directly contradicts the ideal of a comforting and compassionate veterinary experience.
Perceived Focus on Volume Over Care: Some reviews suggest a "clinic" mentality where efficiency in processing animals takes precedence over personalized, gentle care. Phrases like "this is a clinic and if you don't like it go somewhere else" reflect a transactional rather than relationship-based approach.
Discrepancies in Records/Information: While not explicitly stated for this location, general Vetco feedback can sometimes point to issues with managing records or coupon details, leading to confusion or unexpected charges.
These features, particularly the negative aspects of customer service and animal handling, indicate that while the clinic aims for affordability and accessibility, the quality of interaction and humane treatment can be inconsistent. This is a critical consideration for pet owners who prioritize a loving and gentle approach to their pets' care.
Vetco Vaccination Clinics, being part of Petco, leverage the broader Petco brand for promotion. They emphasize "low-cost" and "affordable" vaccinations, often promoting packages that bundle several essential services. They also highlight the convenience of in-store clinics and the absence of traditional exam fees for their specific services. Online scheduling and reminders are typically part of their process to streamline visits.
However, the promotional messaging should be balanced with the realistic expectations set by customer reviews. While the pricing structure might be appealing, potential users should be aware of the reported challenges concerning wait times and staff interactions. Pet owners prioritizing a highly personalized, calm, and deeply empathetic experience, especially for anxious or sensitive pets, might need to weigh the cost savings against the reported aspects of the clinic's environment and service delivery. For basic, routine vaccinations where speed and cost are the primary drivers, Vetco Vaccination Clinic can be an option. However, for those seeking a more traditional, comprehensive veterinary relationship with a strong emphasis on compassionate handling and detailed consultations, other veterinary practices might be more suitable. It is always advisable for new clients to research current reviews and perhaps visit the location beforehand to gauge the atmosphere.

Mar 03, 2025 · Jose AliceaFirst it took an hour to be seen which is way too long for an appointment that is scheduled. The vet on duty was not accurate on the computer to keep the line moving. I explained that my kitten does really well if you feed him a treat and then administer the shots while he eats the treat off the table. The vet on duty said we don’t do that and I said that this is how was done the last time. She said well that’s not happening today. She proceeded to be aggressive with my kitten and hold him down. Then he scratched her because of this. I said see that’s not how you treat an animal and they will react badly. She said this is a clinic and if you don’t like it go somewhere else. I will not be coming back with my animals. It was a terrible experience!
Sep 06, 2024 · Shanin CopelandBeware hidden fees and fine print. They don’t tell you until you show up for your 2-4 week boosters that they charge you as much as the initial visit. Your supposed to figure it out on your own by the fine print and fee chart. Bull. What a scam.
