Welcome to Vetco Vaccination Clinic

The Vetco Vaccination Clinic, located at 190 Quality Dr, Hooksett, NH 03106, USA, operates within the larger framework of Petco, a well-known pet retail chain. This "Pet Hospital" category establishment is specifically designed to provide accessible and affordable preventive veterinary care, primarily focusing on vaccinations and other essential wellness services for dogs and cats. It serves as a convenient option for pet owners seeking routine health maintenance for their companions without the need for a full-service veterinary hospital visit for every need.

Environment and Clinic Setup

As a clinic situated inside a Petco store, the environment of Vetco Vaccination Clinic is integrated with a retail setting. This means that while there is a dedicated area for veterinary services, the general atmosphere includes the typical sounds and activity of a pet supply store. This setup offers convenience for pet owners who can combine their pet's health visit with shopping for pet food and supplies.

Customer reviews offer insights into the clinic experience. While one review mentions that "their online system was down so although I had an appointment it took a little longer than normal to check in and wait," indicating potential for occasional wait times, it also states that "it’s 100% worth the wait, the vaccines were done quickly without any issues." This suggests that despite possible minor delays, the staff aims for efficiency in service delivery. The emphasis is on providing a streamlined process for vaccinations and basic preventive care, which generally requires shorter visits compared to comprehensive diagnostic or treatment appointments at a full-service hospital.

Services Offered

Vetco Vaccination Clinics specialize in preventative care services, making essential pet health maintenance more approachable for a wider range of pet owners. Their core services typically include:

  • Vaccinations: This is the primary service offered, covering essential vaccines for both dogs and cats. For dogs, this includes rabies, distemper/parvovirus (DHPP), leptospirosis, and bordetella. For cats, core vaccines include rabies and FVRCP (feline viral rhinotracheitis, calicivirus, and panleukopenia). They often offer various vaccination packages, allowing pet owners to choose based on their pet's lifestyle and needs.

  • Microchipping: A crucial service for pet identification, microchipping vastly improves the chances of reuniting lost pets with their families. This quick and simple procedure is offered at Vetco clinics.

  • Heartworm Testing and Prevention: Vetco provides testing for heartworm disease and offers various prescription heartworm prevention medications, emphasizing year-round protection against this serious parasite.

  • Flea, Tick, and Other Parasite Prevention: Clients can obtain prescription flea, tick, and other parasite prevention solutions, often after a consultation to determine the best option for their pet.

  • Fecal Testing: This helps detect intestinal parasites that can affect a pet's health and sometimes be transmissible to humans.

  • Diagnostic Testing: While not a full diagnostic lab, they can perform certain tests like the SNAP 4Dx test for dogs (screening for heartworm, Lyme disease, anaplasmosis, and ehrlichiosis) and a "Triple Test" for FIV, FeLV, and heartworm for cats.

It's important to understand that Vetco Vaccination Clinics generally do not offer comprehensive services like sick visits for serious illnesses, surgeries (including spay/neuter), dental procedures, extensive diagnostics, or emergency care. For these needs, pet owners would typically be referred to a full-service veterinary hospital.

Features and Customer Experience

One of the most notable features of Vetco Vaccination Clinic is its emphasis on affordability and accessibility. The aim is to make essential preventive care less of a financial burden for pet owners, thereby encouraging more consistent health maintenance. The model often eliminates exam fees, which can significantly reduce the overall cost of a visit focused solely on vaccinations or basic screenings. However, as one review points out, "I do not call $42 dollars for a rabies shot cheap. I refuse to bring my cats their. Crooks." This indicates that while Vetco aims for affordability, individual perceptions of "low cost" may vary, and it's always advisable for pet owners to compare prices with other local providers.

Despite some price concerns, the "vet/vet techs there were so kind and patient" is a recurring positive theme in customer feedback. This highlights the clinic's commitment to providing a positive and caring experience, especially for pets who might be nervous about vet visits. The efficiency of vaccine administration, even with potential check-in delays, is also appreciated, indicating a focus on quick and effective service delivery.

Vetco also emphasizes the expertise of its staff, stating that their "state licensed veterinarians and professional staff" are on hand to assess a pet's lifestyle and determine appropriate vaccinations and tests. They also have protocols in place for not vaccinating pets that have experienced previous reactions to vaccinations, demonstrating a commitment to safety.

Have had an appointment for my 2 dogs to get updated shots with them for over 2 weeks they waited until an hour and a half before my appointment and sent a text to cancel with no information why. I had to call and ask why and they said the vet didn’t want to show up today. Wildly unprofessional

Never, ever do it. We've been waiting almost 2 hours to even talk to someone. They refuse to give us an ETA or even say how many people are ahead of us. Looks like we're never leaving.
