Brought two of our dogs in for vaccinations last month and selected the full vaccine package for both. After getting checked in, we were informed they would need boosters in a few weeks. Both the vet and vet tech were wonderful. When we came back in for the follow-up, we learned that the two boosters would be over $100 for each dog, which was not communicated at the previous visit or as part of the package description. It felt deceptive for a package of vaccines and other tests to not include the boosters, and especially to not make this clear from the start. What at first appeared to be a great deal compared to a private vet visit ended up being as much if not more, and where the vets were obviously being forced to see far too many animals in too brief a window of time. I would highly recommend sticking with a private vet practice, and if you do use PetCo, to make sure to ask plenty of questions to get transparent pricing from the start.

Welcome to Vetco Vaccination Clinic

Welcome to the introduction of Vetco Vaccination Clinic, a dedicated pet hospital located at 41 Narrows Shopping Center, Edwardsville, PA 18704, USA. Operating under the broader category of a Pet Hospital, Vetco Vaccination Clinic primarily focuses on providing essential preventative care services for your beloved animal companions. While specific details about the clinic's environment are not explicitly available online, it is generally expected that such facilities offer a clean and organized space designed to ensure the comfort and safety of both pets and their owners during their visit. As a vaccination clinic, the environment is likely streamlined to facilitate efficient and hygienic administration of vaccines.

The core service offered by Vetco Vaccination Clinic, as its name suggests, is vaccinations. Vaccinations are a cornerstone of preventative veterinary care, protecting pets from a range of potentially serious and even fatal diseases. These services are crucial for maintaining the overall health and well-being of dogs and cats. Based on the limited information provided, the clinic appears to offer different vaccination packages. However, it is important for pet owners to have a clear understanding of what these packages include. Customer reviews indicate that there might be instances where booster shots, necessary for the full efficacy of some vaccines, are not explicitly included in the initial package description and incur additional costs. Therefore, it is highly recommended that pet owners proactively inquire about all included services and potential additional charges, such as those for booster doses, before proceeding with any treatment plan.

In addition to vaccinations, pet hospitals often provide other related services to support preventative care. While the specific range of services at Vetco Vaccination Clinic is not fully detailed in the provided information, it's common for such clinics to offer basic health checks in conjunction with vaccinations. These checks can help identify any potential underlying health issues before administering vaccines. It is advisable to confirm with the clinic the extent of the health assessment included with their vaccination services.

Features of Vetco Vaccination Clinic, as perceived through the lens of customer experiences, present a mixed picture. On the positive side, some customers have highlighted the professionalism and kindness of certain staff members, specifically mentioning the positive interactions with a veterinarian and a vet technician during the initial vaccination visit, as well as the exceptional support provided by a staff member named Joanne G. These positive experiences suggest that there are caring and competent individuals within the clinic. However, other feedback raises concerns about communication clarity regarding pricing, particularly concerning booster shots, and the perceived efficiency and workload of the veterinary staff. One review mentioned the feeling of being rushed and that the vets seemed to be managing a high volume of animals in a short timeframe. Another significant concern raised by a customer relates to the interactions with a specific vet assistant, Sarah B. The review details instances of unprofessional comments, perceived mischaracterization of the pet's behavior in the medical notes, and an overall negative and seemingly fearful demeanor towards the animal. This highlights the importance of a positive and comfortable interaction between the veterinary staff and the pets they are treating.

Regarding promotional information, the provided text does not contain any explicit promotional offers or discounts. However, the initial impression from one customer was that the "full vaccine package" seemed like a good deal compared to a private vet visit. This suggests that the clinic may position itself as a potentially more affordable option for routine vaccinations. Nevertheless, as the same customer's experience unfolded, the unexpected additional cost of booster shots led to the overall expense being comparable to, if not exceeding, that of a private vet. This underscores the critical need for transparent and comprehensive pricing information from the outset.

Based on the available customer reviews, potential users of Vetco Vaccination Clinic should be aware of a few key considerations:

Transparency in Pricing: It is crucial to ask detailed questions about the total cost of the vaccination service, including any potential charges for booster shots or other related procedures. Do not assume that a "package" includes all necessary components for complete immunization. Request a clear breakdown of all fees before proceeding.

Communication with Staff: While some staff members are reported to be wonderful and helpful, there are also accounts of negative interactions and miscommunication. If you have any concerns about your pet's behavior or specific needs, ensure these are clearly communicated and addressed by the veterinary staff. Pay close attention to the information being provided and don't hesitate to seek clarification.

Clinic Environment and Efficiency: Be mindful of the potential for a high-volume environment, which some customers have perceived as leading to rushed appointments. While efficiency can be beneficial, ensure that you feel your pet is receiving thorough and attentive care.

Individual Staff Interactions: As with any service-oriented business, individual experiences can vary depending on the staff member encountered. While positive interactions have been reported, negative ones have also occurred. If you have a particularly sensitive or anxious pet, it may be beneficial to inquire if specific staff members known for their calm and patient demeanor are available.

In conclusion, Vetco Vaccination Clinic offers a focused service in preventative pet care, primarily vaccinations, within the Pet Hospital category. While it may initially appear to be a cost-effective option, potential clients must exercise due diligence in understanding the full scope of services and associated costs, including any follow-up requirements. The experiences shared by other pet owners highlight the importance of clear communication with the clinic staff regarding pricing and treatment plans. While some staff members are commended for their kindness and professionalism, there are also reports of less satisfactory interactions. Therefore, local users considering Vetco Vaccination Clinic should approach it with a proactive mindset, asking thorough questions and ensuring they are comfortable with the information provided before proceeding with their pet's care.

Very disappointed for the second time. Sarah B the vet assistant who gave my dog his shots was terrible to deal with. Other people had two people with their pet I had brought my boyfriend with me as he’s our dog and gets jumpy and loud when he’s not aloud to play with other dogs. Tells me “next time one of you stay in the car because he’s a little crazy.” Then puts in his summary he’s “reactive and resists restraint”. My boyfriend held him no issues. The first time I dealt with her she acted terrified of him asked if he was friendly as he was smelling her tail wagging and happy. She put in his chart “special handling” because he turned his head and looked at her when she was putting multiple shots in his butt. She made my experience absolutely terrible. The only one who was incredibly kind and helped us was Joanne G. We were told by someone to go in an aisle and no one helped us for over 45 minutes. She came around the corner saw us and checked us in apologized etc. She had no issues coming up to my dog as he was smelling her, she pet him, and talked to him. I thanked her after I checked out for helping us and understanding he’s a bigger boy who just loves everyone and wants to play. (German Shepard) I will never be going back just because of how Sarah was. And if you hate your job that much to be ignorant and make comments all the time and act scared of animals you’re in the wrong field. But again thank you so much to Joanne, I probably would have lost my mind and wouldn’t have kept my mouth shut if it wasn’t for her, she’s honestly amazing.

Dr. Kim Hanley acted like she’s never seen a hyper puppy before. She was very rude during the entire encounter. She needs to look for another career if she can’t handle different temperaments of animals. This was meant for the Wilkes-Barre location.
