Went here to get vaccinations for my Rottweiler Luna. Luna is very energetic, happy and has never had issues with her primary care veterinary. But I needed a Saturday appointment and needed to save extra cash so I signed up for Vital care and booked an appointment here. I go into the 1:20pm appointment. Everything went well up until one of the Techs aggressively grabbed Luna and put her in a head lock to the point of choking her. I saw the discomfort in my Luna's eyes. Then she started yelping. I talked to the Vet about it and she didn't seem to have anything to say. My ten and 8 year old daughters witnessed everything and to top it off Luna was supposed to get 3 year Rabies and 3 year DAP and she only got 1 year. I called to ask for a refund as I will need to go to the primary care veterinary and they said they can't do that. "But they are very sorry for the harm caused to Luna" like that is going to help the fact that now I have to pay for another vet visit. WORST VET PRACTICE EVER 馃槪

Welcome to Vetco Vaccination Clinic
Vetco Vaccination Clinic, located at 1086 Killingly Cmns, Dayville, CT 06241, USA, operates primarily as a specialized "Pet Hospital" focusing on preventative veterinary care, especially vaccinations. They can be reached at (860) 779-7905 or +1 860-779-7905. Vetco Clinics are often found within Petco stores, aiming to provide convenient and affordable access to essential health services for pets.
The environment at Vetco Vaccination Clinic is generally designed for efficiency and accessibility. As a clinic often situated within a larger retail space like Petco, the ambiance can vary but typically prioritizes a functional and clean setting for quick service. While efforts are made to keep the environment as comfortable as possible for pets, the nature of a high-volume vaccination clinic might mean a different atmosphere compared to a traditional full-service veterinary hospital. Waiting areas are typically set up to accommodate multiple pets and their owners, and the focus is on streamlined processes to handle a steady flow of patients. The staff are trained to manage a variety of pet temperaments and ensure the necessary preventative treatments are administered. It's important for pet owners to understand that while the environment is designed for efficiency, individual experiences can vary, and managing a pet's anxiety during a visit to a potentially busy clinic is a consideration.
The services offered by Vetco Vaccination Clinic primarily revolve around preventative care. Their core offerings include a wide range of vaccinations for both dogs and cats, covering essential protections like rabies, distemper, parvovirus, bordetella, leptospirosis, and feline leukemia. They also provide microchipping services, a crucial tool for pet identification and recovery if a pet becomes lost. Additionally, Vetco Clinics offer testing for common conditions such as heartworm and other tick-borne diseases, and they dispense prescription flea, tick, and heartworm prevention medications. The focus on these key preventative measures allows them to offer services at a more affordable price point compared to full-service veterinary hospitals, making essential pet health care more accessible to a broader range of pet owners. While they are excellent for routine preventative needs, it is important to note that Vetco Vaccination Clinics typically do not offer comprehensive services like surgery, extensive diagnostics (e.g., X-rays, extensive blood panels for illness), or treatment for complex illnesses or injuries. These services are usually referred to full-service veterinary hospitals.
A key feature of Vetco Vaccination Clinic is its emphasis on affordability and convenience. They often operate on a walk-in or appointment basis within Petco stores, making it easy for pet owners to get vital vaccinations and preventative care without the need for traditional, often more expensive, full veterinary exams. They generally have transparent pricing for their services, which is a significant draw for many pet owners. A notable aspect of Vetco's offerings is their "Vital Care" program, which is a membership plan designed to make pet care more affordable. The "Vital Care Premier" tier, for example, offers benefits like unlimited routine vet exams at Vetco Total Care locations (their full-service hospitals) or Vital Care Rewards for routine exams at other vets, along with discounts on nutrition, grooming, and monthly rewards. This program can significantly reduce the overall cost of ongoing preventative care for pets. However, it's crucial to understand the limitations, as these clinics are primarily for vaccinations and basic preventative services, not for comprehensive or emergency care. The convenience factor is a major draw for pet owners seeking quick and cost-effective solutions for their pet's routine health needs.
Customer reviews for Vetco Vaccination Clinic in Dayville, CT, present a mixed picture, which is important promotional information as it highlights both strengths and areas for consideration. One review states, "The were super sweet with my dog," indicating positive experiences with gentle handling and friendly staff. This reflects the clinic's aim to provide compassionate care, especially for pets who might be nervous. However, another detailed review describes a highly negative experience: "Went here to get vaccinations for my Rottweiler Luna... one of the Techs aggressively grabbed Luna and put her in a head lock to the point of choking her. I saw the discomfort in my Luna's eyes. Then she started yelping. I talked to the Vet about it and she didn't seem to have anything to say... Luna was supposed to get 3 year Rabies and 3 year DAP and she only got 1 year." This review also highlights concerns about communication regarding the vaccine duration and the clinic's refund policy, stating they "can't do that" for a refund despite the "harm caused to Luna," forcing the owner to seek care elsewhere. This particular incident, while perhaps not representative of every experience, raises important considerations regarding staff training, handling techniques, communication, and responsiveness to client concerns. It underscores that while Vetco aims for affordability and accessibility, the quality of individual interactions and the handling of specific situations can vary. Pet owners should therefore be aware of these potential variations when choosing Vetco Vaccination Clinic for their pet's care. The existence of both highly positive and significantly negative feedback means that potential clients should consider their pet's temperament and their own expectations for interaction and follow-up care when opting for a high-volume, focused-service clinic.
