Vetco Total Care Animal Hospital

Dr. McKelvey and the staff at Vetco Total Care Animal Hospital in Lakeland were truly amazing! Our dogs receieved outstanding care and attention. Everyone was so personable, friendly and informative. The medical exam, vaccines and billing was disclosed in detail. There was no pushy upselling that can happen at vet offices. We had no wait time to check in and to be seen. Super easy to make an appointment online or by calling in. This is now our favorite animal care hospital of choice.

I get having strict adherence to appointment times, but this seemed out of line. I was 9 minutes late after having trouble getting my sick animal into their carrier. They told me that they couldn’t take him in till 5 hours later. Now if this is all that happened I wouldn’t be writing this. But then the receptionist and vet stayed in the back but could be heard loudly laughing and talking as I sat there seeing if the next appointment would no-show. If something happens showing some grace goes a long way, or at the very least don’t act so blatantly disinterested in assisting me that it could be felt. I will not be back

If I could put a zero I would. Veterinarian was afraid of my dog. Did not complete the proper exam or show my pet the attention normally given. I waited for 30 mins and I could hear appointments arriving later but they were attended to first. My pet was sent home with antibiotics which did nothing for relief. A fecal test was done for a respiratory infection. How does that work? Then I receive a call a week later after Hurricane Milton stating the test needs to be re done. The test was not submitted over 4 days then the best suggestion was to redo. The vet did not reach out for any additional follow up to ensure my pet was better. I have been here twice and I understand there is a fear for my pets breed however, she receives royalty treatment wherever she goes - but definitely not here! Needless to say she was diagnosed with a respiratory infection , persistent cough and distress. It is unfortunate I did not receive the care Vetco is known for and we will not be returning. This location would not be recommended for pet parents I am in contact with.

Best vet doc I've ever been too.Dr was very attentive and informative and caring! She took her time with me cuz I needed to know and understand. She gave alternatives instead of just having to say goodbye cuz it wasn't time just yet!! Amazing and awesome
