Vetco Total Care Animal Hospital

I recently took my 10-week-old puppy to the local Petco after seeing their ad for a free first-time veterinary visit. Unfortunately, the experience felt like a classic “bait and switch”—it was not free at all! I ended up being charged $190, which came as a complete surprise. My husband had warned me to be cautious, but as someone who is naturally shy, I found it difficult to push back or question the charges. Now, I’m not only frustrated with the misleading advertising, but I’m also dealing with my husband’s growing dissatisfaction with my ongoing shyness, which he feels continues to cause unnecessary issues. This experience has left me feeling disappointed and embarrassed.

Competent, knowledgeable vet; no wait time; friendly staff. Did recommend additional services but not pushy at all when I declined them pending my puppy's next set of vaccinations.

The doctor wasn't sure what issue my dog was having on her skin and frankly said "I'm not worried about it." Well I was so he casually prescribed an ointment. The ointment was for "two weeks" but only lasted 6 days!!! When I called for more, I was told they couldn't send my script to the petco near my house! I had drove 30 mins to this location because it had an open appt. Now I have to drive another whole hour for more of my script that they couldn't distribute accurately. The lady tells me their hours when I can pickup, NEVER mentions they close for lunch! On my lunch break I drive 30 minutes only to be greeted with an "out to lunch" sign and now I have to sit for 20 mins until they return. WTH If this second week of cream clears up my dogs skin, I suppose I'll be satisfied despite the experience. If it doesn't, this place isn't worth $5. I'll post an update soon.

Recently took my dog here for an ear infection. The team was very caring and gentle during our visit. We went for a follow up appt to make sure the meds worked. I was surprised I was charged an office visit for a followup they requested, but went along with it. At the end of the visit, they added a ton of suggested preventative services which I just can't afford right now. We decided which ones were the most urgent. The total due changed every time they brought my dog back from the backroom... but I understand we make mistakes. All in all, my dog has recovered and happy with the outcome.

I normally am not one to write reviews, but I am more than happy to do so for this Vetco Hospital team! I have brought my cat and one of my dogs to this Vetco on 4 separate occasions. It is clear that this team works very hard to ensure all of their patients are well taken care of. Dr. Cole's experience as a vet was evident from the start. Our dog is absolutely terrified of fireworks, and Dr. Cole gave the exact medication combination needed for her to calmly sleep through those holiday evenings we normally loathed and dreaded. Today my cat had a dental cleaning (which requires sedation), and everything worked out very well. I will happily bring the rest of my fur family to this team should the need arise again, knowing that they are in more than capable hands.
