REJECTED MY DOG IN HER TIME OF NEED My sweet dog Karma has been a client of yours for 11 years but no more. Let's be clear here. I don't need you to hold a stethoscope to her and tell me she's healthy while trying to upsell me blood tests and ultrasounds for $500 a visit. I can give my money away anywhere. When she's actually sick or hurt I need her vet to be there for her, like you should have been. She broke her leg on Saturday and I rushed her over there while she went into shock on my car floor. You rejected her at the door and said you weren't willing to treat or administer any first aid. You sent me to Springfield. What are sick and hurt animals not your business? She spent 9 hours scared laying in a kennel with a broken leg that day because of you. I bet you would have been glad to euthanize her for $800 or cremate her for $500 if she had died at your doorstep while you shoo'd her away. What goes around comes around. -Karma

Welcome to VCA Westmoreland Animal Hospital, located at 3880 W 11th Ave, Eugene, OR 97402, USA. As part of the VCA (Veterinary Centers of America) network, this Pet Hospital aims to provide a range of veterinary services for your pets. You can reach them at (541) 485-4595 or their mobile number +1 541-485-4595.
Based on recent customer reviews, it is important for potential clients to be aware of some reported experiences. One pet owner recounted a distressing situation where their dog, a long-time client of 11 years, was allegedly rejected at the door after breaking a leg. The reviewer stated that the hospital was "not willing to treat or administer any first aid" and instead directed them to a facility in Springfield. The pet owner expressed significant distress over their dog having to wait for care and questioned if sick or hurt animals were not the hospital's concern.
Another customer shared their experience regarding the diagnosis and treatment of their newly adopted dog. They brought the dog in for nail trimming due to extreme overgrowth, which was challenging due to the dog's traumatized nature, requiring multiple visits. During these visits, the owner also raised concerns about the dog licking its paws, which were bleeding and swollen with a noticeable smell of infection between the toes. The hospital allegedly attributed this solely to the long nails and suggested the owner was overfeeding the dog. The owner eventually sought a second opinion from another vet who diagnosed a yeast infection and a likely allergic reaction, prescribed antibiotics and medicated shampoos, and indicated the dog was underweight and needed more calories. This reviewer expressed disappointment in the "neglect of care" received at VCA Westmoreland Animal Hospital.
Given these reviews, providing a description of the environment, services, and features based solely on positive aspects is not feasible with the available information. However, typically, a VCA Pet Hospital like VCA Westmoreland Animal Hospital would be expected to offer a variety of veterinary services, potentially including:
- Wellness examinations and preventative care
- Vaccinations
- Parasite control
- Dental care
- Surgery
- Diagnostic imaging and laboratory services
- Treatment for illnesses and injuries
- Emergency and critical care (though the first review casts doubt on the immediate availability of emergency care in this instance)
VCA facilities generally aim to provide a professional and equipped environment for animal care, including examination rooms, surgical suites, and diagnostic equipment. As part of a larger network, they often have access to a wide range of resources and expertise.
Features of a VCA hospital typically include a team of veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and support staff. The focus is usually on providing quality medical care for pets. However, the reported experiences highlight potential concerns regarding the responsiveness in emergency situations and the thoroughness of diagnostic approaches in at least one instance.
No promotional information is mentioned in the provided reviews. VCA as a network sometimes offers promotions, but specific offers for the Westmoreland location are not available in this data.
For local users in Eugene, OR, VCA Westmoreland Animal Hospital is located on West 11th Avenue. However, the recent customer feedback regarding the handling of a pet emergency and the diagnostic process for another pet raises significant concerns. Potential clients may wish to consider these experiences when choosing a veterinary care provider.
It is important to remember that these are individual accounts and may not represent the experience of every pet owner who has visited VCA Westmoreland Animal Hospital. However, the nature of the complaints, particularly the alleged rejection of a pet in need of emergency care, warrants careful consideration.
In conclusion, VCA Westmoreland Animal Hospital in Eugene, OR, is a Pet Hospital that is part of the VCA network. While typically offering a range of veterinary services, recent customer reviews detail deeply concerning experiences regarding emergency care and diagnostic thoroughness. Local users are advised to take these accounts into consideration when making decisions about their pet's veterinary care.

Feb 25, 2025 · EliI got my dog from a shelter and I took him into this vet to look into getting his nails trimmed however he’s a very traumatized dog from past owners and his nails were extremely grown out, we went quite a few times to try to get his nails trimmed however he’s was not having it. During those visits i had brought up that he was licking his paws a lot and that they smelled like infection and they were bleeding a raw and swollen in between his toes to which they told me it was just because his nails were too long. They also told me that i was overfeeding him as he’s a medium sized dog and i had been feeding him 3 cups of food a day which they told me was too much and i needed to cut back to 2 cups. we had decided the best option was sedated nail trimming. however i have a very busy schedule and im 18 still in high school living on my own so a 300$-500$ vet appointment was something i had to plan for and so i had to reschedule a couple times and the vet made me feel really guilty for that so i decided to go to a different vet closer to my house. The new vet i went to told me that my dog was underweight and that he needed more calories and that he seemed to have a yeast infection in between his toes and is most likely having a bit a of an allergic reaction to the yeast on the rest of his body and they diagnosed that in 1 visit and sent me home with antibiotics, and 2 different shampoos to help with his paws. I’m very disappointed at the neglect of care for my dog and i will never go back to this vet
Mar 26, 2025 · Bailey BrundKnowledgeable. Professional. Every experience I've had with my little baby pup has been outstanding and postiive. I can trust them with my baby. We had been going there at least once a month til my pup got all his shots and now we just got him neutered. My boy is a happy, happy boy and I love how everyone there dotes on him and gives him all the love.
May 18, 2022 · Lora LeeWhen my wife and I brought our cat in to VCA we thought we had found a Vet office for life. We were wrong. The first visit went well and our cat seemed better. She had a problem and the Dr took care of it. A few months later she had the same problem so we brought her in again. We didn’t have as good of an outcome. Our Vet was off so it was with a different Vet. We went home and hoped she would get better. Our cat started on a downhill slide. We called and the original Vet was in so we thought we would bring her in again. We were really hoping for a turnaround since we thought we were losing our sweet kitty. It just didn’t happen. The bad part is the Vet didn’t seem to care. Almost throwing hands up in the air saying that’s all I have. That is why the 1star rating. NOT just because our cat didn’t get well there. A few weeks ago our good friend and neighbor recommended a different Vet. We took her in and within a week we have our kitty back. And we are happy again. Three weeks later and we can say we haven’t seen her this well in over a year. All this from a simple fle allergy.
Apr 12, 2018 · Steven SchwartzMy husband and I were blown away by the care and knowledge provided by Dr. Sullivan and Jona. They gave us the facts and advice needed to care for our boy. They were also extremely personable and considerate of our feelings. Very grateful for this place and the people who fill it.
