didn't like this place, and neither did our puppy. tried to get us to get his heart checked out with very expensive procedures without any good reason behind it aside from being a cavalier, and when they went to take his temperature they sounded like they were being rough with him and scaring him. we found a better vet over in aumsville and haven't changed since. this was about 7 years ago, but i realized i never actually wrote a review, so here you go. hopefully things have changed with this place.

VCA Vitality Animal Hospital Introduce

Welcome to VCA Vitality Animal Hospital, your dedicated partner in ensuring the health and well-being of your beloved pets in Salem, Oregon. As a prominent establishment in the Pet Hospital category, VCA Vitality Animal Hospital strives to provide comprehensive and compassionate veterinary care to the local community. Situated at 4580 Commercial St SE, Salem, OR 97302, USA, the hospital is committed to offering a range of services designed to meet the diverse needs of your animal companions.

VCA Vitality Animal Hospital operates with the understanding that each pet is a unique member of your family, deserving of individualized attention and care. While specific details about the hospital's physical environment are not explicitly available in the provided information, it is common for VCA hospitals to maintain clean, comfortable, and well-equipped facilities to ensure a positive experience for both pets and their owners. You can likely expect welcoming reception areas, private examination rooms, and potentially advanced diagnostic and treatment areas to cater to various medical needs.

The services offered at VCA Vitality Animal Hospital are likely to encompass a broad spectrum of veterinary care. Based on the positive customer review, a significant aspect of their service includes preventative care. This typically involves routine wellness examinations, which are crucial for early detection of potential health issues and maintaining your pet's optimal health. Vaccinations, tailored to your pet's species, age, and lifestyle, are also a fundamental part of preventative care, protecting them from various infectious diseases. Furthermore, the mention of yearly check-ins like bloodwork and fecal exams indicates their commitment to thorough health assessments, allowing for a more comprehensive understanding of your pet's internal well-being.

For senior pets, such as the reviewer's cat, VCA Vitality Animal Hospital appears to offer dedicated care and attention. The staff is described as gentle and efficient, prioritizing the comfort and health of older animals who may require more specialized support. This suggests a patient-centric approach, where the well-being of your pet is paramount during examinations and procedures.

One notable feature highlighted in the reviews is the availability of a care plan. This membership-based program offers a structured approach to managing your pet's routine healthcare needs. According to the positive review, the care plan at VCA Vitality Animal Hospital covers the cost of each wellness check, yearly vaccines, and annual bloodwork and fecal exams. This can provide pet owners with a predictable and potentially cost-effective way to ensure their pets receive consistent preventative care. While the reviewer notes that the overall cost of care might not be the cheapest in the area, they emphasize the value and convenience of the care plan, especially for pets requiring more frequent visits.

It is important to consider all feedback when evaluating a service. One older review expressed dissatisfaction with the perceived pressure to undergo expensive cardiac procedures for a puppy without a clear medical indication beyond breed predisposition. The reviewer also mentioned a negative experience during a temperature check, suggesting a lack of gentleness. While this review is from seven years ago and the user hopes things have changed, it underscores the importance of clear communication between veterinary staff and pet owners regarding diagnostic recommendations and procedures. It also highlights the subjective nature of experiences and the potential for variations in individual interactions.

In contrast, the more recent positive review offers a different perspective, emphasizing the caring and efficient nature of the staff, particularly when dealing with a senior pet requiring extra care. This reviewer, a regular visitor and care plan member, speaks highly of the team's dedication to ensuring their cat's comfort and health. They also provide valuable context regarding negative reviews, suggesting that some may stem from clients experiencing heightened emotions during a pet health crisis. Additionally, they clarify that VCA Vitality Animal Hospital is not an emergency veterinary clinic and directs clients to Wilvet Salem for emergency services, which is crucial information for local pet owners to be aware of in urgent situations.

The fact that many satisfied "regulars" may not actively leave reviews further suggests that a significant portion of the clientele has positive experiences with VCA Vitality Animal Hospital. Their continued patronage indicates a level of trust and satisfaction with the care provided.

Edit to add: When you read the reviews on this page, please remember that while every single person has a valid experience, 1. a lot of these negative reviews are from people who have just experienced a crisis and are in a heightened state, 2. VCA is NOT an emergency vet and instead directly recommends Wilvet Salem for emergency services, and 3. A lot of us regulars forget to review, but are regulars for a reason. I come here every month and I'm a member of the care plan. I have a senior cat who needs a little extra care, and every single staff member I've talked to here goes above and beyond to make sure she's comfortable and healthy! They're very gentle but efficient, and the care plan is worth it in my opinion - it covers the cost of each wellness check, yearly vaccines, and 1x/yr check-ins like bloodwork, fecal, etc - so the only thing I usually pay separately is just for her actual medication. I won't lie and say it's cheap, but it's definitely not more expensive than similar care in our area, and it's absolutely worthwhile if you need to come in more than a couple times a year.

We visited VCA for the first time today and I wish I could give them more then 5 stars! They were amazing with my pup, making him comfortable and loving on him and making it a great experience for all of us. They answered all my questions. Each staff member we interacted with was super friendly and very loving to the animals that came through the doors. We will definitely be returning and I highly recommend them.

Absolute nightmare. Signed up for one year for the healthy dog checks etc. I haven't had the dog for 3 years, now a debt collector wanting 3 years of money. No phone calls nothing. They know we don't have a dog and haven't so they are just money grabbing. Avoid at all costs. They will milk you for everything. Class action may be needed, looking into it.

The number one reason my wife and I have continuously used this vet is for the wonderful staff, most of all Dr. Surroz. She is one of the kindest people you will meet and treats your pet like family. I can't recommend her enough, you've truly gone above and beyond for Loki and Juliet, and thank you to all the assistants and support staff.
