This past New Year’s Eve weekend, my beloved Boston girl, who is almost 10 years old, was admitted with pneumonia. I was overwhelmed with worry, but the staff at VCA were truly remarkable. The moment I arrived, the doctor provided immediate reassurance during such a frightening time. Their dedication was evident in the incredibly attentive and compassionate care from the nurses. The front desk staff was also quick to respond to my questions, making me feel supported every step of the way. I was allowed to visit my furry friend during her hospital admission, which brought me immense comfort. When I received the estimate for the bill, it was on the higher side, but to my relief, I ended up getting nearly 50% of my deposit back. I truly appreciated how they did their utmost to ensure that the care remained affordable, giving my dog every chance for a full recovery. Not for a second did anyone give up on her or make me feel like there wasn’t hope. I am incredibly grateful for the compassion and support they showed during this difficult time.

The case involving a dog with pneumonia highlights their capability in managing serious medical conditions requiring hospitalization and intensive care. This suggests expertise in internal medicine and the availability of necessary medical equipment and facilities for monitoring and treatment.

The second review, while detailing a tragic outcome due to an undiagnosed condition, also underscores the hospital's capacity to handle emergency situations, including immediate assessment and compassionate end-of-life care. The ability to quickly evaluate a critical case, explain the situation clearly to the owners, and provide a peaceful passing for the pet in the presence of their loved ones demonstrates a commitment to comprehensive care, even in the most difficult circumstances. I live 45 minutes away, and VCA was the only animal hospital that answered our call. On 4/19/24 just before 9 PM, our 9 year old golden retriever collapsed at home. Just a day earlier, our vet assured us he was cancer-free after surgery to remove cysts that we were unsure were cancerous or not. Sadly, he had an undiagnosed heart tumor that ruptured. When we arrived, a nurse immediately ran out, scooped our boy right up and ran inside while we followed behind. From the beginning, the staff showed nothing but compassion. Once assessed, they explained there was fluid and blood around his heart, and while they could drain it, it would likely return. Given his condition, we made the heartbreaking decision to let him go. We were able to stay with him, with his favorite stuffy, while he peacefully went to sleep. I feel awful seeing one-star reviews because VCA was kind, caring, and supportive throughout this traumatic experience for my husband and I. We miss our boy dearly, but we are forever grateful for the care he received in his final moments.

I agree with the previous review if you love your animal, do not ever bring them here! I did and and in the end within 30 hours my cat passing away I would’ve went to another hospital and taking my chances driving with him on my lap for 45 minutes. I don’t feel like My cat dusty got the quality of care. I feel like it was all about cost when I dropped him off I had to sign a bill saying I would pay $4200. The clinical staff was doing better and gave me false. Hope the doctor never gave me the indication that he was gonna die. He told me we can try this. We can try that, but he never told me that his quality of life was just not there. So Of course I wanna give my cat a chance because I’ve had him since he was two old And he was 13 now. He was a fighter. He’s been through a lot of things. And in the end within 30 hours He died. I was down there multiple times to And he just declined, but everyone kept telling me he was doing OK. When I was told he passed away, I let the staff know I was gonna be down there within an hour to my final goodbyes I waited and waited and waited with my kids and they brought him in. I was disgusted. It’s like they didn’t even care. They wrapped in multiple blankets and just tossed sideways and a cat bed. His ears were perked up. He looked horrifying and he smelled like, you think a family member was coming to see their animal and they had passed away laying down on a bed that you would just make them look presentable and peaceful come on . I don’t feel like they cared one way or the other that’s all about about money And I never received a final bill. I called multiple times spoke to the nursing manager and the office manager and they were supposed to have the head person call me and no one to this day has ever called me back or sent me a final bill. Miscommunication mistreating of my animal unprofessionalism and I could go on to so much more.

It's New Year's night and our kitty was sick we called and right away they told us to come and bring our kitty. In the pouring rain we drove and at 1 am in the morning. We got there and right away the staff was friendly and helpful. They took care of our cat and kept keeping us updated on him . This is an emotional comfort cat for my son who has ADHD, Autism , depression and anxiety so he was so nervous. But thanks God our kitty is home and we started his medicine in the morning. Happy New Year. Thank you for being open and helping our cat and so many pets.

My beautiful cat, Peggy, was in need of some testing and observation due to a digestive/gastrointestinal issue and spent the overnight at VCA hospital in West Hartford. The staff was absolutely terrific, compassionate and utterly professional. Peggy's attending physician, Dr. Uman, not only handled my girl with tender-loving care but also eased my mind and heart. A wonderful, wonderful staff, aided by the equally top-notch care provided by Peggy's primary veterinarian, Dr. Furphy. I would recommend VCA Veterinary Specialists of CT for all of your pet's medical needs, either basic check-ups or advanced needs. First-rate.
