When our 9-year old "pup", Tuxy, ripped his CCL and our trusted local vet told us he needed surgery, we had to choose between Cornell in Stamford, where our previous doggy Bingo had surgery for the same condition 10 years ago, or VCA in Norwalk. With a 6-week wait for an initial appointment at Cornell and a neighbor's recommendation for her dog's good experience at VCA, we took Tuxy to see surgeon Brian Palmisano at VCA. From the moment we walked in the door at VCA, we began to relax. This was warm and welcoming, like a local vet's office rather than a cold hospital experience. Dr Palmisano was friendly, confident, and experienced. Tahlia, our surgery liaison, was remarkably approachable, funny, smart, and caring from day 1 through day 62 -- that's today: 9 weeks from our first appointment to Tuxy's clean bill of health. The surgery went smoothly, the care instructions were clear and thorough, and the staff was terrific. We are grateful to the whole team for taking good care of our boy Tux and taking good care of us.

My dog Minerva was extremely ill a little while ago. I truly thought I was going to have to say goodbye. Thanks to the incredible team at the hospital she’s made a full recovery! I can’t thank everyone enough!

My partner and I brought Sammi, my 13-year-old cat, in on Friday the 13th because she hadn’t pooped in days, her stomach was bloated, she was peeing outside her litterbox, drinking water a lot, losing hair on her ears and her fur from a previous ultrasound wasn't growing back, and she’d been grinding her teeth while eating less and less. She’d previously been diagnosed with kidney disease and had gone from 14lbs to around 6 in just around a year. I was very worried, but trying to stay positive. The doctor (sorry, I’m terrible with names) gently explained to us while trying to keep herself composed that Sammi had fluid in her abdomen and large, cancerous tumors. A quick ultrasound confirmed it. I knew she was declining, but hearing this completely broke me. The staff was incredibly compassionate, giving us space in a cozy room with a couch to say goodbye. They even let us feed Sammi a Churu, her favorite treat and the only thing she seemed genuinely excited to eat, and I fed it to her out of the palm of my hand. I laid her on my lap, dimmed the lights, put on some rain sounds on the phone like we did every night to simulate falling asleep, and my partner and I rubbed her back while speaking to her softly, telling her everything was going to be okay. When we decided it was time, I mustered up all the courage I could and pressed the button. Then the second doctor explained everything carefully, petted her a bit while telling her how adorable she was, and administered the sedatives. Sammi passed peacefully in my arms, completely relaxed. She knew it was her time, and she was ready. The staff showed immense kindness throughout, asking if we needed anything, getting us water, and offering fur clippings and a paw print. Though I wish I had asked for the paw print as well after seeing one in another person’s review, I’ll always have plenty of reminders of her. Thank you to the front desk lady with cool tattoos, the kind man who took Sammi’s information, and the two doctors who helped both Sammi and me feel at ease in her final moments. Your compassion means the world. I'm sure it doesn't get easier for them to see these things. It takes incredible discipline to not completely break down. They have a very rewarding, but also gut-wrenching job, so please be kind. They're doing the best they can to both save lives and cross them over that bridge when it's time. I know it can get expensive, but it's worth every penny to know your pet is getting the help they need. Sammi was the sweetest, most adorable cat I could've ever asked for, and it was love at first sight. She loved playing fetch with rubber bands and popping bubbles, making caves out of blankets to curl up in, being next to me, in my arms, or my lap, and staring up at me with those big beautiful yellowy-green eyes with so much life, and personality behind them, fighting off bugs because I was scared of them, and eating lots and lots of treats. She never really got mad at or scratched me, unless she had good reason to do so. She was my best friend, she was always there, through it all, good and bad. I hope you're resting in the most peaceful place, Sammi, your presence has touched my soul and you will be dearly missed. I love you more than I can ever express. To fellow pet parents: cherish the time you have with them. Life moves fast, and even faster for them. Take plenty of pictures and videos to look back on, love them fiercely, and be patient when they make messes or have accidents. It just might be a sign that they’re unwell, especially with cats because they hide pain incredibly well… Just remember this saying, while pets may only be a chapter in our lives, we are their whole book. To sum up my review, this veterinary hospital gave Sammi the best care and dignity she deserved in her final moments, as well as provided excellent bedside manners. Your little angels are in good hands here.

I can’t express how thankful I am to have found this place—and Dr. Parker Wilcox! After my 11-year-old chihuahua mix’s eye worsened despite treatment from another vet, I was scared and desperate for help. Dr. Wilcox, a specialized ophthalmic veterinarian, was an absolute blessing: gentle, incredibly thorough, and genuinely compassionate. He gave us hope and a clear, thoughtful plan to help her heal. The entire staff was so kind, the clinic was calm, comforting, and spotlessly clean. They treated my little girl like family, and I’m forever grateful. If I could give Dr. Wilcox 10 stars, I would. I never write reviews, but this visit FAR exceeded anything I’ve ever experienced at a veterinary office.

From the moment Noodles and I walked through the door, we were immediately put at ease by the warmth and kindness shown to us from the front desk staff. I always know that we are in good hands here with their professional and compassionate approach. The care and attention to detail from the vet team is outstanding and we always feel that, in their expert and gentle hands, we are safe. I honestly can’t recommend them more highly!
