The care here far exceeded my expectations. I was referred by a friend who fosters canines for a local rescue organization. From the initial and *very* organized scheduling with reception on the phone, to the gentle exam from Dr. Bailey the clinic prioritized the well-being of my new canine friend. Before our appointment I was feeling quite nervous about taking care of a (formerly) stray puppy. I left feeling confident, with all my questions thoughtfully answered, a full round of shots, and even with my budget still intact. Moreover, what really stood out to me was the 1-on-1 care from the tech who helped “R” and me. She guided us through the entire appointment; she helped me understand the costs involved with grace and with understanding; she seemed like the kind of person who has too many dogs at home. :) If you’re a dog person, she and everyone I encountered at this clinic is your kind of people. I’m sure they’re equally good with felines and other creatures. My canine buddy trusted her immediately, and for a terrified stray who had been lost for awhile I think this speaks volumes on just how excellent the care was at my appointment today. I’m so happy to have found a local vet clinic that I can trust with those who are most dear to me. Thank you.

I decided to take my dog here after bad experience at a different veterinarian. They were very kind and courteous and treated my dog with lots of respect and everyone seemed to love on him! They explained what needed to be done. What could be put on hold and also how much things were gonna cost in case I couldn’t afford it. I pick and choose what I wanted. Everyone there seemed very friendly and nice and well organized, especially because they are currently undergoing construction to expand so it is a little hectic but all in all it was a fantastic experience. The only thing I would say is it is pricier than my last vet.

Been going here for years. They used to be friendly welcoming and nice and cater to the pets and their families, and as time has gone on and I’m guessing new management has taken over they are all about charging more and more money and demanding more services be done and have become more about money than taking care of their pets or clients. You can never get in for an appointment until weeks later. There are a few staff members there who are rude and abrasive. Several times I have called left on hold for 15 minutes or more or forgotten about. I used to recommend this place to everyone not anymore. Stay away!

I brought my husky in for a wellness exam and had the worst experience I’ve ever had at a veterinarian—entirely due to the manager, Eli Canales. The visit began routinely, but quickly turned sour when we started asking questions about the insurance plan she was aggressively pushing. Eli became rude, dismissive, and visibly irritated—cutting us off and pressuring us to make an immediate decision or leave, stating, “they wanted the room empty.” We had only been there about 15 minutes. What truly disturbed me was her explanation of how the insurance works. According to her, Trupanion—whom they work with directly—requires a wellness exam first, seemingly because anything discovered during that exam would be considered a pre-existing condition and therefore not covered. She claimed that simply because my husky is 8 years old, everything would be labeled pre-existing and not be covered by insurance whether we did the exam or not, regardless of his clean medical history—which is flat out misinformation. Despite this, they continue to push clients to sign up for both the ACA membership and Trupanion insurance—nearly $2,000/year—while knowing full well that major health issues won’t be covered. And yes, you’re still expected to pay out of pocket for anything significant. It felt less like medical advice and more like a manipulative sales pitch. Once we challenged her misleading claims about insurance, Eli became very hostile and ultimately forced us out of the office—I’ve NEVER seen a medical professional act this way. It was completely unprofessional and unacceptable. We own over $8 million in real estate in San Antonio’s Dominion and Cresta Bella neighborhoods—money was never the issue. We were simply trying to make an informed decision about whether the insurance would benefit us or if paying out of pocket was the better route. Instead, she chose ego over professionalism and cost her clinic a valuable client. I strongly advise others to do your research, ask detailed questions, and proceed with caution—especially if Eli is involved. I won’t be returning to this location, and I certainly won’t be recommending it to anyone.

The veterinarians and staff of VCA Leon Springs are amazing. We have been going to them for years and they have guided us so well through all of the ups and downs of pet ownership! Currently, Dr. Carter and her team are helping us negotiate the challenges of moving internationally. Their care for our girls is truly above and beyond. We couldn't be more grateful.
