There is no better vet in LA. I have lived here for 8 years and this is the ONLY place I will ever take my cat to ever again. Emma who works at the front is not only the kindest human ever, but works around the clock to make sure we always get what we need and have a seamless experience. Lulu is an amazing tech with my Tuna girl and Dr. Hertz is the best of the best when it comes to medical care. My Tuna girl is not an easy patient but every single person at VCA Santa Monica goes above and beyond to ensure she receives the best care possible. I am so grateful for the entire staff. You guys are the best! ❤️❤️❤️

This certification means their staff are trained in techniques to reduce fear, anxiety, and stress in animals during their visit, ensuring a low-stress environment. I felt like only what was needed was ever recommended." This transparency and focus on genuinely needed care build immense trust with clients. The hospital's **supportive and considerate approach during difficult times**, such as end-of-life decisions, is also a highly valued feature, with clients expressing gratitude for the "utmost compassionate and highest quality care" received, even during the passing of a beloved pet. The mention of Dr. Martinez alongside Dr. Hertz further emphasizes a team of dedicated and skilled veterinarians. Being **Fear Free Certified** is a key feature that underscores their dedication to creating a low-stress environment for pets. VCA Santa Monica Main Street Animal Hospital is the best. My sweet doggo, Lulu, crossed over the rainbow bridge almost a month ago, and I wanted to share how much I appreciate this clinic’s kind and compassionate care for my girl over the last year. I moved to Venice in January, 2024 and set up care for Lulu right after I moved. In every subsequent visit to this clinic we were treated with the utmost compassionate and highest quality care. Often, these corporate outfits have the rep that they push unnecessary services but this was not my experience at all. I felt like only what was needed was ever recommended. And when it came time to make the impossible decision to let sweet Lulu pass, these folks were so supportive, kind and considerate. Special kudos to Dr. Hertz, Dr. Martinez and Emma. This place is amazing.

We got a puppy last year so needed a local vet. The staff is super friendly, always easy to get a hold of and usually able to make same day appointments which has been helpful for things that come up with raising a puppy. I also love the chat feature of their app for when questions pop up and you’re not sure if you need to see a vet or not. Highly recommend them!

I was with VCA Santa Monica for years, and at every turn they upcharged, and found a way to tack on a bunch of money to the bill. Example: when I tried to get my dog a certain medication they insisted on multiple $300 consultations. It is my sincere opinion that they are not trust worthy. A smaller organization will care more about you and your beautiful pet.

UPDATE: I replied to the management and they have not even acknowledged receipt of it months later While the staff at this clinic are polite and the scheduling process is smooth, the veterinary care itself leaves much to be desired, especially given the unusually high costs. During my initial visit, the vet quickly diagnosed my dog’s skin condition as simply due to frequent bathing. However, within two weeks, his condition worsened significantly. When I returned, a different vet immediately identified it as an infection requiring antibiotics, a clear oversight from the first visit. Their pricing practices are also highly concerning. After purchasing antibiotics, I noticed an unexplained markup and asked for clarification. It took two separate requests before I was informed about a $50 “restocking fee” that wasn’t disclosed upfront or listed anywhere. I’ve never encountered this type of fee at any other veterinary practice, including smaller, locally owned clinics. This lack of transparency creates a sense of mistrust. Based on these experiences, I would not recommend this clinic to pet owners seeking reliable, ethical veterinary care. Clear communication, thorough diagnostics, and transparent pricing are essential in any healthcare setting, and I found all three lacking here.
