I recently took my 10-year-old senior cat for a teeth cleaning. Sherrill at the front desk checked us in and was extremely friendly. I was updated throughout the entire procedure. They followed up the next day to make sure my kitty was OK. Major shout out to Katie!! She’s always there and extremely compassionate and reassuring! I was very satisfied with my cat’s care. I have taken her for dental cleanings at other places, I felt much more comfortable, taking her here based on proximity and quality of care.

VCA Rutherford Animal Hospital Introduce

For pet owners in Rutherford, New Jersey, and the surrounding communities, VCA Rutherford Animal Hospital, located at 755 Rutherford Ave, serves as a local option for veterinary care under the platform category "Pet Hospital." This facility aims to provide a range of medical services to support the health and well-being of pets in the area.

Based on the available customer reviews, the environment of VCA Rutherford Animal Hospital appears to be professional, though experiences can vary. One positive review highlights a friendly and efficient check-in process at the front desk, mentioning Sherrill by name. The reviewer also appreciated receiving updates throughout their pet's dental procedure and a follow-up call the next day, indicating a level of communication and care. The mention of a staff member named Katie, described as "always there" and "extremely compassionate and reassuring," suggests that there are caring and dedicated individuals within the hospital staff who contribute to a positive patient experience.

However, a starkly contrasting review presents a deeply concerning experience. This customer expresses profound dissatisfaction with the care and expertise demonstrated by the hospital. They recount a situation where their young golden retriever was initially diagnosed with arthritis based on limited examination, and arthritis medication was prescribed despite the owners' concerns about more serious underlying conditions. The review states that imaging and blood work were only conducted after the owners insisted, by which time the puppy's condition was worsening. The initial tests reportedly yielded no significant findings according to the hospital.

Subsequently, seeking a second opinion at another veterinary hospital led to a diagnosis of cancer within hours, based on blood work and imaging. This experience led the dissatisfied customer to strongly emphasize the importance of seeking a second opinion and to express serious concerns about the "lack of care and expertise" shown by VCA Rutherford Animal Hospital in their case. This review raises significant questions about the diagnostic accuracy and thoroughness of the initial assessment and the responsiveness to the owners' concerns.

In terms of services, VCA Rutherford Animal Hospital likely offers a range of veterinary care, including routine check-ups, vaccinations, dental care (as mentioned in the positive review), diagnostic services such as imaging and blood work, and treatment for various illnesses and injuries. The positive review specifically mentions a teeth cleaning procedure for a senior cat, indicating that dental care is one of the services provided. The negative review also implies the availability of diagnostic services like imaging and blood work, although the interpretation and timeliness of these services are at the center of the complaint.

Features of VCA Rutherford Animal Hospital may include a physical examination area, surgical suites, diagnostic imaging equipment (such as X-ray), and laboratory facilities for blood work and other tests. The presence of friendly and communicative front desk staff, as highlighted in the positive review, can be a feature that contributes to a positive client experience. The dedication and compassion of individual staff members, like Katie, also stand out as positive attributes. However, the negative review underscores the critical importance of accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment, suggesting that the expertise and thoroughness of the veterinary staff can be a crucial, albeit potentially variable, feature.

Regarding promotional information, the provided text does not contain any details about specific promotions or special offers at VCA Rutherford Animal Hospital. It is common for veterinary hospitals to occasionally offer promotions for services like vaccinations, dental cleanings, or new client specials. Local pet owners are advised to contact the hospital directly at (201) 933-4111 or +1 201-933-4111 or visit their website (if available) to inquire about any current promotions or wellness plans they may offer.

In conclusion, VCA Rutherford Animal Hospital in Rutherford, NJ, offers veterinary services to the local pet community. While one customer reported a positive experience with dental care and appreciated the friendly staff and follow-up, another customer shared a deeply concerning experience involving a missed diagnosis and a perceived lack of expertise that had significant consequences for their pet's health. This stark contrast in experiences highlights the importance for pet owners to consider all available information and potentially seek second opinions, especially in cases of unclear or worsening conditions.

Prospective clients may find the positive aspects, such as friendly front desk service and caring individual staff members, reassuring. However, the serious allegations in the negative review regarding diagnostic accuracy and the handling of a potentially life-threatening condition warrant careful consideration. It underscores the need for thorough communication with the veterinary team, asking questions, and advocating for one's pet's health needs.

Given the conflicting feedback, local pet owners might consider speaking with multiple veterinary care providers in the area to make an informed decision about their pet's healthcare. While VCA Rutherford Animal Hospital is a local option, the importance of trust and confidence in the veterinary team's expertise cannot be overstated. It is recommended to inquire about the hospital's diagnostic procedures, the experience of the veterinarians, and their protocols for seeking second opinions or referring to specialists when necessary. The provided phone numbers can be used to gather more information and ask specific questions about the hospital's services and approach to pet care.

We are deeply dissatisfied with the care and expertise shown by this hospital. We have been bringing our 8.5-year-old golden retriever here ever since we got him. Recently, our puppy started limping, and we took him in for a check-up. The staff immediately diagnosed arthritis and pushed arthritis medication on us. Even though we expressed our concerns about more serious conditions, we were ignored and convinced to pay for arthritis medication, which forced us to delay one of the medications for his actual disease. They only took imaging and blood work after we insisted, by which time his condition was worsening. They claimed they found nothing. As his condition continued to decline, we took him to another hospital. Within hours, they diagnosed him with cancer after doing blood work and imaging. This experience taught us the importance of seeking a second opinion. The lack of care and expertise shown by this hospital is unacceptable. Please, do not rely solely on their word; always seek a second opinion for your pet's health.

What an experience! I've had cats my whole life and I've been to many vets through the years. This was a whole new experience. My senior kitty wasn't feeling well and went in for a check up. Dr. Calle and staff went above and beyond. They answered all my questions in detail, even a few times if I didn't understand. They were so patient and very gentle with my sick kitty. She had to have blood taken and a few other very uncomfortable procedures. They wrapped her up in a blanket and gave me Churus to feed her while they did their work. This method worked like a miracle. For the first time ever my cat wasn't traumatized from a vet visit. She didn't seem to mind what they were doing to her as long as she got some tasty Churu. Also would like to add they have very flexible hours. They have a treatment plan so I was able to choose what needs to be done immediately and what can wait, depending on my budget, another huge help. Also seeing all the treatments before paying so I can ask questions and fully understand what's being done was so helpful. Thanks Dr. Calle and all the staff, thank you!! Here is a pic of my kitty feeling like her self again.

Shame on this money making facility. They have ZERO compassion for animals. It’s all about the money. I had a dying stray cat in my yard and I wanted nothing but a dignified death for an animal that’s struggled. I put the cat in my car and drove to Rutherford Animal hospital. I literally called them from the parking lot and explained the situation to them. Keep in mind that there is something called “Good Samaritan” and vets honor it for a stray or found animal. Not this place. They wanted to charge me 260 dollars for an exam and euthanasia. So I had to leave and drive around with a dying cat in my car because ethically they wouldn’t do the right thing. SHAME on you! How can you call yourself vets when you have zero compassion.

Our cat has been a patient of Rutherford Animal Hospital for over 10 years. After bringing our cat for a checkup, they noted he had lost some weight, and we were told to "monitor". A few days later he became lethargic and stopped eating. We called and they could not fit us in and suggested an emergency hospital. Which we went to, there the Dr. with a simple physical exam felt our cat had a mass. He jumped into action and got us to a specialist hospital the next day and our cat was in surgery within days. Sadly, it showed cancer cells and within a few months we had to say goodbye. My issue with Rutherford is, the Dr. there did a full exam and felt nothing, we were sent on our way to monitor. This leaving our cat in obvious distress. During the whole ordeal they are receiving updates as the primary vet on file. Never reached out at all and when I called to notify them of his passing, I got an I'm sorry I'll note it and close his file. Mind you, I received cards and calls of condolence from Chewy & the other hospitals and vets. After 10+ years a file was just closed......Sad and disgraceful. And shocker...no comment by them at all.
