EXSPENSIVE - there are better options My dog needed updated vaccines and an x-ray because she was limping for a few days. NOTHING was wrong, they thought maybe just a pulled muscle. It cost me $885.77 (they told me the exam fee was waived) This was not an emergency visit. Set that aside I set an appointment for my new Kitten and ended up canceling it. They told me the first exam fee would be waived but for the rabies vaccine it would be $106.95 another vaccine $74 and a third vaccine for $195.00. Almost $400 for kitten vaccines!!!!! My suggestion to anyone who reads this... Look up Camp Clinic Mission Hills. They accept walk in's for vaccines and are WAY cheaper. They have services/pricing posted on their website.

Welcome to VCA Parkwood Animal Hospital
VCA Parkwood Animal Hospital, located at 6330 Fallbrook Ave, Woodland Hills, CA 91367, USA, operates as a comprehensive veterinary facility within the "Pet Hospital" category. As part of the extensive VCA Animal Hospitals network, this clinic benefits from a broader infrastructure and resources often associated with a large veterinary group. Serving the Woodland Hills community and surrounding areas, VCA Parkwood aims to provide a wide range of medical, surgical, and preventative care services for pets, primarily dogs and cats. They can be contacted at (818) 884-5506 or via mobile at +1 818-884-5506, serving as a point of contact for pet owners seeking professional veterinary care.
VCA Parkwood Animal Hospital's mission, aligned with the VCA brand, typically focuses on providing high-quality, compassionate veterinary medicine. They strive to deliver comprehensive care through advanced medical techniques and equipment, while also emphasizing client education and fostering strong relationships with pet owners to ensure the best possible outcomes for their animal companions.
The environment at VCA Parkwood Animal Hospital elicits mixed but valuable feedback, painting a nuanced picture of the clinic's atmosphere. Positive reviews consistently highlight a very kind, caring, and professional environment. Clients praise the staff and doctors, specifically mentioning Dr. Herbeck, for their calm, gentle, and confident approach, especially with insecure or anxious pets. The atmosphere is described as welcoming from the moment clients walk through the door, with office staff and technicians being "super sweet" with pets. This suggests a concerted effort to create a comfortable and reassuring experience, aiming to reduce stress for both the animals and their owners. The success in making a rescue dog "actually enjoy himself" speaks volumes about the positive interactions and calming presence within the clinic.
However, it is also important to acknowledge that some clients perceive the clinic as "EXSPENSIVE," which, while not directly related to the physical environment, can influence the overall client experience and perception of value. This suggests that while the quality of care and interaction might be high, the cost factor can be a significant point of concern for some pet owners, impacting their overall satisfaction and potentially their perception of the atmosphere's accessibility.
VCA Parkwood Animal Hospital, as part of the VCA network, typically offers a comprehensive range of veterinary services designed to address the full spectrum of pet health needs, from routine preventative care to complex medical and surgical interventions. Services commonly provided by such a facility include:
Wellness and Preventative Care: This forms the foundation of their practice, encompassing regular physical examinations, tailored vaccination protocols (including Rabies, Distemper/Parvo, Leptospirosis, Bordetella for dogs, and FVRCP, Rabies, FeLV for cats), and comprehensive parasite prevention and control (fleas, ticks, heartworm, intestinal parasites). Preventative care is crucial for early disease detection and long-term health maintenance.
Diagnostic Services: The hospital is equipped with various in-house diagnostic tools to facilitate quick and accurate diagnoses. This includes a full-service laboratory for blood work (CBC, chemistry panels), urinalysis, and fecal examinations. They also utilize advanced imaging techniques such as digital radiography (X-rays) and potentially ultrasound to visualize internal organs and structures, aiding in the diagnosis of injuries, diseases, or foreign bodies.
Surgical Procedures: A range of surgical services are typically offered, from routine elective surgeries like spaying and neutering to more complex soft tissue and potentially orthopedic procedures. The clinic would prioritize patient safety through pre-surgical screenings, advanced anesthesia monitoring, and comprehensive pain management protocols.
Dental Care: Comprehensive dental services are provided to maintain optimal oral health, which is vital for a pet's overall well-being. This includes professional dental cleanings, extractions for diseased teeth, and oral health assessments, often utilizing dental X-rays.
Pain Management: Ensuring the comfort of pets is a priority. The clinic offers various pain management strategies for animals recovering from surgery, injury, or those suffering from chronic conditions.
Nutritional Counseling: Guidance on appropriate diets, weight management, and specific nutritional needs for different life stages or medical conditions is typically offered to promote optimal pet health.
Microchipping: As a crucial service for pet identification and safety, microchipping helps to reunite lost pets with their owners.
Senior Pet Care: Specialized care protocols for aging pets, addressing common age-related conditions and focusing on quality of life.
Behavioral Counseling: Initial assessment and guidance for common behavioral issues, with potential referrals to specialists if needed.
Part of the VCA Network: Being a VCA hospital means access to a broad network of veterinary specialists, advanced technology, and standardized protocols for quality care. This affiliation can provide a sense of reliability and access to extensive resources.
Compassionate and Gentle Approach (Notably Dr. Herbeck): A significant differentiator highlighted in positive reviews is the exceptional kindness and gentle handling of pets, particularly those with anxiety or trust issues. Dr. Herbeck is specifically praised for giving pets the time they need to settle for exams, fostering a positive experience.
Comprehensive Services: The ability to provide a wide array of services from routine wellness to diagnostics and surgery under one roof is a convenience for pet owners, ensuring continuity of care.
Focus on Patient Comfort: The efforts made to create a low-stress environment and the success in making anxious pets feel comfortable during visits are strong features.
Client Education: Like many VCA hospitals, there's typically an emphasis on educating pet owners, providing clear explanations about diagnoses, treatment plans, and preventative care.
It is important to objectively present the identified key feature from some reviews regarding cost, as it influences accessibility and perceived value for some clients. While high-quality care often comes with associated costs, transparency and competitive pricing are often valued by pet owners.
As part of the VCA network, VCA Parkwood Animal Hospital likely participates in various VCA-wide promotions and wellness plans. These can include:
VCA CareClub Wellness Plans: These are comprehensive preventative health plans that often bundle services like unlimited exams, routine vaccinations, parasite control, and dental cleanings into affordable monthly payments, helping pet owners budget for ongoing care.
New Client Offers: Occasionally, VCA hospitals may offer special introductory pricing or waived exam fees for new clients, though the review indicates some confusion or specific conditions around a "waived exam fee" and subsequent high vaccine costs.
Online Resources: VCA's extensive website provides a wealth of educational information on pet health, which serves as an ongoing promotional tool by demonstrating their expertise and commitment to pet owner knowledge.
Community Involvement: VCA often participates in local community events or adoption drives, which act as a way to engage with pet owners and promote their services.
The provided customer reviews offer strong, albeit contrasting, testimonials:
The first review highlights a significant concern regarding cost: "EXSPENSIVE - there are better options...It cost me $885.77 (they told me the exam fee was waived) This was not an emergency visit...Almost $400 for kitten vaccines!!!!! My suggestion to anyone who reads this... Look up Camp Clinic Mission Hills. They accept walk in's for vaccines and are WAY cheaper." This review strongly advises potential clients to compare pricing and emphasizes the high cost of services, even for routine care, and suggests a cheaper alternative.
The second review is overwhelmingly positive and focuses on the compassionate care: "Huey is all smiles! Thank you, Dr. Herbeck and staff for taking such good care with us this morning. Huey is a rescue and a bit insecure with strangers. It was his first wellness visit since being adopted and the Dr and staff were kind and caring from the moment we walked through the door, to the time we were on our way out. Dr. Herbeck is calm, gentle and confident. He gave Huey the time he needed to settle for his exam. Office staff and techs were super sweet with my big baby. Huey actually enjoyed himself :) Highly recommend! Thank you all! Pam & Huey." This testimonial powerfully conveys the clinic's ability to handle anxious pets with kindness and expertise, leading to a positive experience and strong recommendation for the quality of interaction and care.
In conclusion, VCA Parkwood Animal Hospital in Woodland Hills, CA, presents itself as a comprehensive pet hospital committed to providing a wide range of veterinary services with a strong emphasis on compassionate and patient-centered care. While many clients laud the exceptional kindness and gentle approach of the staff and particularly Dr. Herbeck, leading to positive experiences even for anxious pets, it is also important for prospective clients to be aware of the expressed concerns regarding the cost of services. Pet owners seeking care should weigh the benefits of comprehensive care and compassionate interactions against their budget considerations, and it is always advisable to inquire about pricing details upfront or explore available wellness plans.

Jul 29, 2024 路 Alex MWe used to bring our 4 cats to a place in Agoura Hills, but it was getting expensive and really wanted to find someplace closer for emergencies and every day convenience. We really like the staff and doctors at VCA Parkwood, plus it鈥檚 more cost effective for us and we feel that we get the same level of service or better. They are caring and thorough and I think our cats are in great hands as they also help us stay ahead of problems preventatively. Highly recommended!
