Customer Reviews and Considerations
Real customer reviews provide valuable insights into the hospital's service. The provided reviews present a mixed perspective, which is common for any service-based business, especially in healthcare.

  • Positive Feedback: Many clients express immense satisfaction, particularly highlighting specific veterinarians like Dr. John Guest, Dr. Katie Guest, and Dr. Soucy, as well as staff members like Lisa (Practice Manager) and Jen (Vet Tech). These positive reviews consistently praise the compassionate care, excellent service, and friendly nature of the staff, often citing instances where their pets' lives were saved or they received exceptional support during difficult times. This indicates a strong core of dedicated professionals providing high-quality care.

  • Areas for Consideration: Conversely, some reviews indicate negative experiences, specifically mentioning a dog not being the same after a stay for shots and expressing strong warnings to "DO NOT TAKE YOUR ANIMALS HERE!!!" While these are severe criticisms, it's important to note that individual experiences can vary greatly, and such feedback often highlights areas for potential improvement in communication, post-procedure care instructions, or individual pet reactions. The sentiment "May not be the case for everyone but if you don’t care about the risk then feel free" suggests a strong emotional response to a particular outcome. It is worth noting that for any veterinary hospital, outcomes can sometimes be unpredictable, and understanding the specific circumstances behind such strong negative feedback would require more detail than is publicly available.

In conclusion, VCA Lakes Region Veterinary Hospital offers a comprehensive range of veterinary services with a focus on preventive care, advanced medical and surgical treatments, and compassionate end-of-life support. Their affiliation with the VCA network provides access to significant resources and promotional programs like CareClub. While reviews indicate a highly dedicated and skilled team appreciated by many, prospective clients should consider the full spectrum of feedback and potentially discuss any concerns directly with the hospital staff to ensure it aligns with their specific needs and expectations for their beloved pets.

Dr John Guest is the best veterinarian I have ever met. In this house, him and his wife Dr Katie Guest walk on water. They have both saved our dog’s lives. Dr Soucy is our next go to and we gave had nice experiences with Dr Woodman. Lisa, the practice Manager, is phenomenal. Lisa and the Guests have been there my entire 25 years as a client. Katie, the Supervisor, will always make time to assist. Excellent Service. The staff are pleasant and friendly. One of the vet techs, Jen, has been with us for as long as we can remember. She is amazing!

I’m writing this review to inform new customers about my experience with this place. To give some context, I have a cat, he’s about 1 year old and he’s been suffering from “Inflammation on his intestines”. He was primarily diagnosed on December 18, 2024 after spending over $500 on different exams. They quickly prescribed a medicine called “Prednisolone”, but little did I know that they had given me the wrong medicine. I was told to do that medicine for a month which I did. Shortly after not seeing any changes, they recommended me to put him down, which I refused right away. I went and started making home remedies that worked for a while. After that I decided to come back for another exam. They gave me the option to do B12 shots to help him get the desired amount of protein. I did them, and I also did the recommended medicine; all that worked out until 2 weeks ago that he relapsed. I thought that it could’ve been something he ate and I took a little while to get him back with the vet. The reason why I am letting everybody know my situation is because of what happened next. I booked an appointment on the VCA Lakes Region on Friday 03/07/2025, at 3:20pm. I was on time until there was a major crash on Union Avenue which caused the road to be closed, which made everyone take a 10 minute deviation. I informed them and I let them know I was still on the way and that I was almost there. At 3:34 while entering the place I got a call from them stating that I was no longer accepted on that day. I insisted that my cat was not okay and that it was an emergency and they simply didn’t care. In the future I hope VCA Lakes Region takes in consideration the state of their little patients and have some flexibility when it comes to outside factors.

(This happened on April 22, 2022) The staff was incredibly caring and did their absolute best to guide me through the best plan of action. I soon realized there was nothing that could be done and Petey's quality of life would not be improving. It was their compassion, understanding, and expertise that helped me in making such a difficult decision, but I know it was the right one for Petey. My heart is broken, of course. Petey was a very special cat, a rarity, which is why even staff shed tears alongside me and my husband. It was comforting to know how much this team truly loved and cared for Petey. I miss him terribly; his gentlemanly ways, his big ol' mug of a head, his deformed ears and unusual thumbs. He chose me to be his person and the bond was strong. He let me know when he was ready, looking out for me to the end and even went out purring. It's just not the same around here without him, but I am grateful for all that the doctors and staff did for us.
