VCA Lake Shore Animal Hospital

I took a kitten in that we are fostering who appeared to have tapeworms. From the minute I entered, everyone was VERY nice. I was offered any drink from their fridge or tea or coffee while I waited, which was about 1 minute. The vet assistant was BEYOND nice and patient with me while I asked 100 questions. The vet was also super nice and did a great examination. I couldn't have asked for a better experience as a nervous temporary cat owner.

I have been going to this veterinary practice for about 5-6 years with my senior cat who has hyperthyroidism. Her condition means she has to have a blood panel and urinalysis every 6 months. I have always loved Dr. Diaz and the vet techs. They have been kind and compassionate to my cat and very thorough in diagnosing her conditions over the years. I am giving this practice 1 star and will be finding another veterinary practice because, in the last 6 months, the price of her lab tests have increased by $100. I was never notified. The increase was a whole 25%. Anyone who needs a blood panel and urinalysis for their pet will be spending $515. This is ridiculous, and who can afford that every 6 months???!!!! I understand inflation, but a 25% increase over 6 months without a single notification is completely unacceptable.

This place used to be good a long time ago, but now they’re just difficult to deal with (and it’s hard to get an appointment). On top of that, one of the vets (I won’t name him on here) misdiagnosed our French Bulldog, sent her into Addison’s Disease, and almost killed her. 12k in hospital bills later, and no apologies. Their front desk staff is terrible on top of everything. IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR PET’S LIFE, PLEASE DO NOT TAKE THEM HERE! Take your pet to MedVet or a reputable vet.

we signed up for the monthly care club being told it would cover all our normal procedures over the next year. come to find out it just covers the literal visit and not the things that happen during the visit. huh, ok sure sucks to be locked into a year long thing but fine i didn’t read the fine print. fast forward a year where we’ve paid it off and they go ahead and renew the payments at a higher rate for another year without me signing or accepting anything! then when i try to cancel/complain they give me like the hardest run around, call during this time, pass on to this number to call, etc etc…. we’re still getting charged. this place is a scam and it’s impossible for me to trust anything they have to say. will continue through the insane process of fighting these charges and trying to get the right person on the phone at the right time i guess. so infuriating when you’re just trying to get your pet health care and keep getting charged 100s of dollars for literally nothing.

Scammy. Corporate. Unresponsive. Between my friend and I we’ve called 20 times today, Facebook messaged and emailed these office and they are radio silent. Phones go to voicemail instantly. I have a dog with an open infected wound (that they overcharged to have stitched up after a guilt trip for not coming in sooner) and they literally will not give us the time of day.
