A few weeks ago, I had to make the very difficult decision to put my 14 year-old lab down after she declined very quickly over just a few days. The VCA urgent care in Keizer got us in right away, and were so kind and compassionate from the second I walked in the door, to when I left without my sweet puppy. I am so grateful for the veterinarians and staff at VCA in Salem and Keizer for taking such good care of my dog, and for being so gentle and caring through the heartbreaking process. They took amazing care of her through her senior years, and treated her and I with respect and empathy on the day we needed it the most.

VCA Keizer Veterinary Hospital Introduce

Introducing VCA Keizer Veterinary Hospital, located at 4815 River Rd N, Keizer, OR 97303, USA. Operating under the platform category of 'Pet Hospital', VCA Keizer Veterinary Hospital can be contacted at (503) 393-3633 or their mobile number +1 503-393-3633. Reviews from pet owners present contrasting experiences regarding the care and communication provided.

One pet owner shared a deeply emotional experience of having to euthanize their 14-year-old lab. They expressed immense gratitude for the kindness and compassion shown by the VCA urgent care in Keizer from the moment they arrived until they left. The reviewer specifically commended the veterinarians and staff at both VCA in Salem and Keizer for their excellent care of their dog throughout her senior years and for their gentle and empathetic approach during the heartbreaking process of saying goodbye. This positive account highlights the hospital's capacity for providing compassionate end-of-life care and their sensitivity towards grieving pet owners.

However, another customer reported a significantly different experience. Their cat became ill five days after an initial $400 visit to VCA Keizer. Despite calling the vet for three consecutive days, leaving messages detailing the cat's symptoms and their concerns, they allegedly did not receive a return call. On the third day of no response, their cat ended up at an emergency vet clinic with an upper respiratory infection and a fever of 104. This reviewer expressed strong dissatisfaction, suggesting that a timely callback could have allowed their pet to be seen at VCA for a potentially lower cost. They also noted that they still had not received a return call by the fourth day after their initial attempts, implying a lack of follow-up and communication from the hospital in this instance.

These two reviews offer starkly different perspectives on the service provided by VCA Keizer Veterinary Hospital, indicating that while some pet owners experience compassionate and timely care, others may encounter issues with communication and follow-up.

Environment:

Based on the positive review regarding end-of-life care, the environment at VCA Keizer Veterinary Hospital appears to be one where compassion and kindness are prioritized, especially during sensitive times. The urgent care setting allowed for immediate attention. However, the negative review suggests potential shortcomings in communication and responsiveness to follow-up concerns. The physical environment of the clinic itself is not detailed in the provided reviews.

Services Offered:

As a VCA Veterinary Hospital, VCA Keizer likely offers a range of veterinary services, which typically include:

  • Urgent care services (as indicated by one review).
  • Euthanasia and compassionate end-of-life care (as highlighted in the positive review).
  • General wellness exams.
  • Vaccinations.
  • Parasite prevention.
  • Dental care.
  • Surgery.
  • Diagnostics (including laboratory and imaging).
  • Treatment of illnesses and injuries (as implied by both reviews).

The contrasting experiences suggest that while medical services are available, the quality of communication and follow-up might vary.

Features of VCA Keizer Veterinary Hospital:

Potential features, based on the provided feedback, include:

  • Availability for urgent care situations.
  • Compassionate and gentle approach, particularly during euthanasia.
  • A team of veterinarians and staff.

However, a potential area of concern raised by a reviewer is the responsiveness to follow-up calls and communication regarding a pet's ongoing illness after an initial visit.

Promotional Information:

While no specific promotions are mentioned in the reviews, VCA hospitals often promote their services by emphasizing:

  • Their commitment to quality medical care.
  • The expertise of their veterinary teams.
  • The range of services offered, including urgent care.
  • Their focus on patient comfort and compassionate care.

However, prospective local users should be aware of the mixed feedback regarding communication when considering this hospital for their pet's needs.

In conclusion, VCA Keizer Veterinary Hospital in Keizer, OR, is a 'Pet Hospital' that has received both high praise for its compassionate urgent and end-of-life care and significant criticism regarding its follow-up communication and responsiveness to a pet owner's concerns about their sick animal. Local users may find the hospital to be caring in certain critical situations, but should also be mindful of the reported issues with communication after an initial visit. It would be prudent for pet owners to consider these differing experiences when making decisions about their pet's veterinary care and perhaps seek clarification on communication protocols if choosing this hospital.

My cat became ill 5 days after our initial visit there where we spend approx. $400. After calling the vet for 3 days in a row and leaving messages of his symptoms and my concerns we never received a call back. On the 3rd day of no return call my baby ended up at the emergency vet clinic with an upper respiratory infection and a fever of 104. If the VCA cared at all they would have called us back and gotten him in at 1/2 the price but they didn't give a rats ass and we still haven't received a return call from them, today is day 4. Remind you we call 3 separate days in a row and left 3 messages of concern for our baby boy.

I had to bring my cat in after being attacked. He unfortunately didn't make it and we had to help him pass. They told us to pull around back and they would get him ready to come home. I had wondered what took them so long to bring him out. About a week later I received paw and nose prints and a card that the staff members all signed, in the mail. I couldn't believe how kind it was of them to take the time to do this. This has been an incredibly hard time for me and I'm super grateful they did this for us.

I had to take my cat Kiwi here for urgent care this morning and they were really great. I didn't for a second feel like unnecessary services were being pushed on me or that they didn't care about Kiwi. I felt like she was in good hands with everyone. They were pretty quick for a walk-in clinic and we only spent about 2.5 hours here (Thursday morning 9 a to 11:30 a). Not bad at all. Everyone was kind and answered all my questions. They're really great and we will absolutely be back if needed (but fingers crossed we don't lol)

Came in today with my English Bulldog Gimli. He had a lump that appeared on his neck and I was expecting the worst in terms of diagnosis. The staff was all friendly and the cost was better then I anticipated. Doctor and Vet tech were amazing!
