I am devastated to share our recent experience with VCA in Commack NY, a place we had trusted for 20 years. We brought our 3-year-old dog in for a routine checkup and were assigned a doctor we had never seen before, not our regular vet. This new doctor and staff caused our dog such distress that she suffered a panic attack. During this appointment, they also muffled her with their hands over her mouth and took her in the back for another routine test. When she came back, her lips started to turn blue. This escalated into a heat stroke. We had to rush her to an emergency vet, but tragically, she passed away at 2 am in front of my kids. To make matters worse, the manager did not contact us until 5 pm the next day. When they finally did, they had the audacity to blame us for our dog's death. The quality of care has significantly declined since VCA took over. I strongly urge anyone considering this place to stay away. Our beloved pet might still be with us if we had gone elsewhere. This is what happens when VCs get involved with a Mom and Pop business.

Do Not bring your pet to any VCA for they only care about money and not your pet or it's well being. This establishment is run by criminals who put greed over the animals they pretend to care for they have recently raised their prices so astronomically high that the average pet owner will go in the debt train to provide care for their animal. The staff that work at the vca are mostly good people however those running the vca corporate office are greedy and only care about how much they can make off every customer. I would suggest supporting every other emergency clinic in the vicinity before I ever went to a vca again.

No concept of customer service. They do not return phone calls. My pet insurance will not process my claim because they can not get records from VCA Hillcrest who has been nonresponsive to their requests. There are no records but they can't even get confirmation of that. Stay away from this company...for your pet's health and your sanity.

I have been going to this place for years. I have seven pets and I take four of them here. I have laid two of my dogs to rest in their office. So let me say I don’t take this lightly. I had to take my dog who is almost 15 to the emergency vet because she presented with extreme pain. So I took her to Jones VCA two days later to see if we can figure out what happened. They did their exam and even though they saw a huge red mark on her belly with a big red line around it the doctor said and I quote I don’t know what that is. Dr Knight. And then they said we need to run $1200 worth of test to see if she has cancer. We’ll deal with that later. Let’s just get on three different pain medications bc it’s late on a Saturday. We can send test that spot on her stomach later. So the spot gets worse. I posted on Facebook and my friend who is a nurse tells me it looks like a brown recluse bite. She’s a human nurse not a Veterinarian. So I take Harley back. And I see a different vet who gives an antibiotic. Mind you they charged me again. Despite the fact that they’re Dr. screwed up, they did not take any accountability for that. So my dog keeps throwing up and she keeps pacing because she’s in pain. So they give us a different amoxicillin even though the first one with something else was making her vomit . so they tell us why will give you four pills of antinausea for $30. And if that doesn’t work, then you need to bring her in yet again and we’re gonna charge you for that again even though we screwed up to begin with. Of course they didn’t admit that. So at this point between the emergency vet in there that were over $600 and we still have her really sick. So today we called another vet and one of the first questions they asked us what was the anti-nausea they put her on. And when my husband said they never offered that until we called a fourth time. She paused because she was so confused that they didn’t give us antinausea to begin with.. Their poor performance, charging me over and over even though they’re doctor could not access a simple spider bite, has cause my dog so much pain and so much grief. It’s $95 to see the doctor now.. I can no longer recommend them. If I were you, I would find somewhere else because their doctors can’t even access a spider bite, and when they see something that you’re going to hear we’re gonna go on a cancer hunt and we’re going to ignore this giant blazing red mark w a huge red line around it. Terrible handling. The very least they could’ve done was not charge us for the recheck. So we had to spend over $100 to come back and they didn’t even give us anti-nausea even though we told her she was getting sick. If I were you, I would just avoid them. Very disappointed and now I have to find a brand new vet for all seven of my pets.
