We called twice to ask for the price to get our hedgehog cremated and were told the same thing twice. We went into the office on the day we were able to expecting said price and were told double, and for obvious reasons had no choice in the matter but to pay. The receptionist even said she had no idea where the person I got the price from over the phone got that price from unless she went back a few months with our previous hedgie with this hospital who we had to both euthanize and cremate. Upon pickup, we did not receive a ceramic paw print like we paid for we got a paw print on paper. They also almost let me leave without her favorite blanket which I specifically asked for back. Had I not asked at the time of pickup for it back it would have been left in the back.

VCA Fischer Animal Hospital Introduce

For pet owners in Toms River, NJ, seeking a "Pet Hospital Near Me," VCA Fischer Animal Hospital is located at 877 Fischer Blvd. They can be contacted by phone at (732) 270-5300 or mobile at +1 732-270-5300.

Recent customer reviews paint a concerning picture of the services at VCA Fischer Animal Hospital. One pet owner described a distressing experience regarding the cremation of their hedgehog. They reported being quoted one price over the phone twice, only to be charged double upon arrival with no alternative. Additionally, they did not receive the ceramic paw print they paid for, getting a paper one instead, and the clinic nearly failed to return their pet's favorite blanket.

Another customer detailed a troubling incident involving their dog's Proheart shot. Despite confirming with multiple receptionists and vet techs that a heartworm test would not be necessary since their dog was within the year of his last administration and had a consistent history of the preventative, they were allegedly told upon arrival by a veterinarian, Vet Kreidweiss, that the test was legally required. This customer contacted the Proheart manufacturer who confirmed the test was not needed in their situation. They were ultimately charged for a comprehensive test that included heartworm, tick diseases, and intestinal parasites, none of which they authorized. They also reported that Vet Kreidweiss was rude and dismissive of their regular veterinarian's advice. This reviewer accused the clinic of fraudulent charges and subjecting their dog to unnecessary testing for financial gain, indicating they would dispute the charges if not resolved by VCA.

Based on these recent and detailed negative reviews, local users seeking a "Pet Hospital Near Me" should exercise extreme caution when considering VCA Fischer Animal Hospital. The feedback raises serious concerns about pricing transparency, communication, adherence to agreed-upon services, potential for unnecessary testing and charges, and unprofessional conduct by at least one staff member. It would be advisable for potential clients to seek alternative veterinary care options in the Toms River area or to thoroughly investigate these issues before entrusting their pets to this clinic.

Brought my dog in for his pro heart shot. He got one here last year without an issue and was heartworm negative. We moved to a new area in which the vet doesn’t administer it, so we thought wed bring him back. I was told by my vet that if he is within the year of his last administration of the vaccine, he would NOT need a heartworm test. This makes sense, especially for my dog who has been getting this for 5+ years consistently. I called in advance a week prior and spoke with a few receptionists who spoke with MULTIPLE vet techs to confirm this. Everyone said the heartworm would not be necessary since it was within the year, and we'd only pay an exam fee and price of the shot. Totally fine, but we got bait and switched! Upon arrival, Vet Kreidweiss said she refused to administer it without a heartworm negative test. She said it was legally not allowed by NJ state law and VCA policy, and that sadly just simply isn’t true. When a dog has been consistently on prevention, especially administered by a vet with proven records yearly, it is not needed. I called the manufacturer of Proheart and confirmed this too. Unfortunately we scheduled his appointment the day the year was up on his vaccine, so I went ahead and had it done in the hopes I’ll dispute this with VCA. Once I was sent my itemized receipt, I found out that VCA had charged me for a test that included heart worm, other tick diseases, AND intestinal parasites!! They fraudulently charged me an absorbent price and lied about what they were charging me for!! So on top of cornering me into paying more for a heart worm negative via lying, they charged me for other tests I did NOT authorize!! AND they additionally subjected my dog to unnecessary testing and trauma. If not resolved at the level of VCA, I will be disputing this with my credit card company. Vet Kriedweiss was also extraordinarily rude in addition to blatantly lying for more profit. She tried to discredit my current vet by saying she didn’t know what she was talking about in terms of the heartworm test, even though multiple members of the staff at this specific VCA said it was true. Stay away from making appts with her if you can! I've had great experiences at other VCAs, this just isn't one of them. This location of the VCA chain is a fraudulent and nickel and dime type of establishment. They do not place dogs first, as evidenced by the fact that they put my dog through unnecessary testing and trauma to get an extra $140 dollars. This place will lie to you in order to get money, at the expense of your animal.

Took one of my chickens with a sour crop today. Dr. Paul Crawford was great. He emptied and flushed her crop. She is now eating and back to normal self.

Our cats have been patients at this hospital for many years. The office staff, the techs, and the doctors have always treated our cats, and us, with kindness, understanding, and respect. The doctors at this hospital are very thorough and do whatever is necessary to find solutions to behavioral issues and illnesses. They treat each cat as if they were their own, with gentleness and professionalism. I trust them to do whatever is necessary to keep their patients healthy and happy. It's difficult to name a favorite doctor, though Dr Billy Danowitz has always been a very warm and special "friend" to all of our kittens. Every doctor we've ever seen there has been wonderful, and has taken excellent care of our fur babies. The doctors all understand that treatments are costly, so we have been given treatment options (if available), with the cost of each one, so it is easier to make decisions about the type of treatment we can afford at the time. I highly recommend Fischer Vet Hospital to anyone looking for a very capable and a caring staff.

The staff at this facility was amazing!!! (I terrible with names or I would name them!) I had to bring my dog in and have her put down... these folks couldn't have made the experience less painful for me or my sweet girl tuned old lady.... Maya, my old pitty went with peace and love... and the staff went above and beyond throughout the entire process. THESE PEOPLE CARE!!! If you are in need of an animal hospital do not hesitate. Call them first!!!
