Welcome to VCA Fairmount Animal Hospital
VCA Fairmount Animal Hospital is a veterinary care facility located at 4101 W Genesee St, Syracuse, NY 13219, USA. You can reach them at (315) 468-3446 or their mobile number +1 315-468-3446. As a pet hospital, they aim to provide medical services and care for animals in the local Syracuse community. Understanding the environment and services offered by a pet hospital is crucial for pet owners seeking the best care for their furry companions. While direct descriptions of the hospital's ambiance are not available, some inferences can be drawn from the customer reviews regarding the staff's demeanor and approach.
Several reviewers highlight positive aspects of their experience at VCA Fairmount Animal Hospital. One customer noted an "excellent approach to the client and patient," suggesting a professional and considerate manner in their interactions. The proactive communication from the clinic, with a call to clarify necessary information before an appointment, indicates an organized and attentive approach to client service. Furthermore, the efficiency of being seen immediately upon arrival for a scheduled appointment is a notable positive aspect of their operational flow, potentially leading to a smoother and less stressful experience for pet owners.
The friendliness and attentiveness of the staff are also commended in the reviews. Positive interactions with the veterinary team, including nurses and doctors like Dr. Friedman, can significantly contribute to a pet owner's comfort and confidence in the care their animal is receiving. The sentiment of leaving the clinic "calm and confident in the cat's speedy recovery" speaks to the reassurance and support provided by the staff. These positive remarks suggest a caring and professional environment within the hospital, where both pet and owner well-being are considered important.
However, it is essential to present a balanced view based on all available feedback. Some customers shared negative experiences that potential clients should be aware of. One former client mentioned deciding to seek veterinary care elsewhere after repeated concerns about their cat's health were allegedly dismissed, only for a different veterinarian to diagnose a serious illness that ultimately led to the cat's passing. This experience raises concerns about the thoroughness of diagnoses and the level of attention to owner observations.
Another customer recounted a similarly concerning experience with their dogs. They described an instance where a specific health concern, a lump on their dog, was seemingly not adequately addressed. The reviewer felt their concerns were dismissed and that the veterinarian's focus was misplaced. These negative experiences highlight potential inconsistencies in the quality of care or communication at VCA Fairmount Animal Hospital, at least according to these specific accounts.
Considering these contrasting viewpoints, it is challenging to definitively describe the environment and features of VCA Fairmount Animal Hospital. While some clients experienced excellent service, proactive communication, and a friendly staff, others reported feeling that their concerns were not adequately addressed, leading to negative outcomes for their pets. This suggests that while the hospital may have positive aspects in terms of client interaction and efficiency for some, there might be inconsistencies in diagnostic thoroughness and attentiveness to owner-raised issues.
In terms of services, based on the nature of an animal hospital, VCA Fairmount Animal Hospital likely offers a range of veterinary services. These typically include:
- Routine Wellness Exams: Regular check-ups to monitor your pet's overall health and well-being.
- Vaccinations: Administering necessary vaccines to protect against common animal diseases.
- Parasite Prevention and Control: Providing medications and advice to prevent and treat fleas, ticks, heartworms, and other parasites.
- Diagnostic Services: Utilizing tools and tests to diagnose illnesses and health conditions, which may include laboratory work and imaging.
- Medical Treatment: Providing care and medication for various medical conditions affecting pets.
- Surgical Procedures: Performing surgeries, which could range from routine spays and neuters to more complex operations. (The positive review mentioning a "speedy recovery" after treatment suggests surgical or significant medical intervention capabilities.)
- Dental Care: Offering dental examinations, cleanings, and advice on maintaining your pet's oral health.
- Emergency Care: While not explicitly mentioned, most animal hospitals offer services for urgent or emergency situations during their operating hours. It would be advisable to confirm their emergency protocols directly with the clinic.
Regarding promotional information, none is explicitly provided in the reviews. The positive feedback about the staff's approach and efficiency could be seen as an indirect promotion of their client service. However, the negative reviews serve as a counterpoint, suggesting that potential clients should consider all feedback when making decisions about their pet's care. It is recommended that pet owners contact VCA Fairmount Animal Hospital directly to inquire about their specific services, protocols, and any current promotions they might be offering. Visiting the facility, if possible, might also provide a better sense of the environment and the overall experience.
In conclusion, VCA Fairmount Animal Hospital in Syracuse, NY, has received both positive and negative feedback from its clients. While some appreciate the friendly and attentive staff, efficient service, and positive client interaction, others have raised serious concerns about the thoroughness of care and the handling of their pet's health issues. Potential local users should weigh these different perspectives and consider their individual needs and priorities when choosing a veterinary care provider. Direct communication with the hospital is encouraged to gather more detailed information and address any specific concerns.

May 22, 2025 · Yana KondriaMy husband and I used to take our fur babies here, but decided to stop. We decided to go elsewhere for their care. We had brought our cat in more than once due to concerns we were having regarding his health. Each time we were told he was doing fine. He went to a different veterinarian office a couple of weeks after his last visit here, and the results at the other office were different, showing how ill he was. After about a month, he passed away. We brought our dogs in as well and had a similar experience. During one of these appointments, I had a concern about a lump near one of my dog’s armpits. During the visit, I had my dog roll over onto her back so I could show the vet the lump. The vet rolled her back over and said dogs don’t like to be on their backs. My dog sleeps on her back and rolls around on her back, on her own. Also, when I check her over for ticks after going outside, I have her roll over onto her back so I can check her over and have never had a problem. I felt upset after this appointment and did not feel my concerns had gotten addressed. My husband and I care very much about the animals who live with us and we will always advocate for their well-being. After these occasions and others like these, I decided we needed to go elsewhere.
Jan 16, 2025 · Kimberly HorethPlease do not allow them to give your cat Zorbium. My poor kitty had her surgery Wednesday and has not slept since Tuesday night. The first night she could not sit still and if she did she stared off. She has barely eaten anything since Tuesday evening. They offered her to come in to be seen again (and to charge me). Her initial visit, blood work and surgery were over 3k and think the follow up should be included, including treatment for a side effect of a medicine they decided to use. The Dr. said the side effect of not sleeping doesn't happen often or they would not use it as much as they do. Please Google search that this is a common side effect. When the body goes through trauma like a surgery it needs to rest. Not sleeping from Early Wednesday so far to mid day Thursday is very unhealthy. I have been a long time client of theirs with my cat who ended up being 19 plus years old, but he never needed a surgery. I am really disappointed in this situation.
Mar 07, 2025 · Nicole SI always have a great experience with the staff and vets here. Never do they ever put the thought of price before procedure. They make sure all your options are laid out and explained very well before making decisions that impact your fur babies. I love this place. They've not only helped me let go of a loved one humanly but they've also helped me bring new puppy life into the world as well. I couldn't ask for a better veterinary hospital 🏥 ❤️ 🐕 🐈 💕
Dec 08, 2021 · Christine BisnettThe office scheduled me an apt within 1 business day of calling even though I haven't visited in a few years, and the staff was extremely helpful, concerned about my dog, and helped me out financially by running tests step by step instead of bundling so many things together. They were honest with what running each test meant, and helped me choose the best options for my dog! My dog was not scared or traumatized, either, which is a huge deal because she has social anxiety now. Thank you all so much for everything you do!! Karma says Thank You, too!
