First visit here and everyone was very friendly. They were open and up front on the cost of everything. I was sent home with some medication and a flea treatment that I am to apply myself. I knew about the medication but not the flea treatment. So maybe just a little work on the communication aspect.

I’ve been bringing my dog, Chewy, to this clinic for nearly three years, and I truly wanted to love this place. I’m committed to finding the best possible care for Chewy, and since the clinic is conveniently located only 20 minutes from my condo, I had hoped this would be our long-term veterinary home. Unfortunately, my experiences have left me feeling disappointed and concerned. The first major issue arose when the clinic recommended an annual dental cleaning for Chewy, starting when he was just 4 years old, which they said would require general anesthesia. Trusting their advice, I scheduled the cleaning each year, even though it came with a steep price tag of $1,200 per session. On the day of the procedure, they inserted an IV for the anesthesia, but it was done so roughly that it left Chewy with a painful wound, requiring antibiotics. This was incredibly frustrating, especially because I brush Chewy’s teeth every night to prevent issues, and I had hoped a professional procedure would be handled with the utmost care. Seeing my dog suffer from a preventable wound was hard to accept. I took Chewy to another hospital for emergency care, where they treated his wound and advised me that annual dental cleanings under general anesthesia aren’t typically recommended for dogs, who usually need them every three years or so. This led me to feel VCA might have been taking advantage of my willingness to do whatever it takes to keep my beloved dog healthy. On another occasion, I brought Chewy in after he had been vomiting. They determined he needed hydration and suggested taking him to the back for treatment, as they usually do. However, I requested that the procedure be done in front of me, as I wanted to ensure he was comfortable. After some hesitation, they agreed, but what I witnessed shocked me. The needle they used was exceptionally large. When I asked about this, the staff explained that a bigger needle allows for quicker hydration, supposedly making the process easier for them. But watching them insert that needle was painful, Chewy let out a cry I had never heard before, and it was heartbreaking. It made me wonder why they would prioritize speed over a gentler, more compassionate approach. It also led me to question how many times he might have endured this discomfort in the past when taken out of my sight. My frustration grew when I started researching VCA and learned that it’s part of a large corporation with investors to satisfy. This profit-driven approach seems to treat pets as numbers rather than cherished family members. I’ve since been searching for a privately owned veterinary clinic where pets receive truly personalized and compassionate care. It’s challenging to find private clinics accepting new patients, as they often manage smaller caseloads to ensure high quality care, but I’m committed to finding one. As a devoted pet parent, I can’t recommend this clinic to others who value attentive, empathetic treatment for their pets. I hope sharing my experience encourages fellow animal lovers to seek out clinics that prioritize patient well-being over profit. Our pets deserve to be treated with respect, compassion, and genuine care, qualities I, unfortunately, didn’t find at this veterinary clinic.

. Mazola didnt follow my request and o don't appreciate that. I told her I will buy a blanket to line the cat bag and she said she will place lining pads in there and she didn't. I don't like that. I want to make sure my cats surgical wound is protected. Otherwise she was pleasant but I specifically asked to protect my cats wound.

Dr. Shannon Lightbody has always been incredibly patient with both my cat and me. As a new pet owner, I often found myself anxious about my cat's health, leading to frequent visits. Dr. Lightbody always thoroughly answered the plethora of questions I had and advised me on which behaviors to monitor before scheduling a vet visit. Having recently moved to another state, I regret not having the opportunity to express my gratitude in person. Thank you, Dr. Lightbody, for taking such excellent care of Rooney and me. I feel so lucky we had you as our vet!
