VCA Elliot Park Animal Hospital

VCA has been nothing short of wonderful with my pups care! They are compassionate and understanding towards her specific needs. I feel like everyone truly listens which makes me comfortable as a first time dog owner. They offer everything from basic care to nail trims to ER related visits. They are also very honest in pricing and what our $$$ go to. All of the staff here have been wonderful. I am grateful the humane society uses them as a preferred provider!

I took my 3 month old baby kitten here to see “Dr. Loeschen”. I wanted to know what was wrong with him because he had some obvious difficulties and abnormalities. “Dr. Loeschen” told me that he just had hip issues and that it was “too soon to tell” what his progression would look like. In actuality, my kitten was suffering a brain tumor and passed a few weeks later. I am beyond devastated by the lack of care and expertise that this vet provided.

I have been a client for about 6 months now for my 2 little rescue dogs. I always feel like this location is SUPER responsive and helpful, very easy to schedule with. Prices are reasonable and my dogs receive great care. I'm often able to get same day medication refills and the appointment/vaccination reminders help me stay on top of things. Overall I'm very happy with their services.

I have been taking my dog here for years and they are always very kind and patient with her and very professional. She is a very anxious rescue dog and they have been amazing. I highly recommend the clinic but also the groomer. They are the only ones who have been able to successfully clip her toenails. I have tried taking her to both petsmart and petco (as I don't live super close to this clinic location) and neither one has been able to complete this task. Great place.

I have been coming here since I adopted my dog as a puppy, about 7 years now. This is and was my first dog ever so my knowledge on what good vet care looks like was very limited and i relyed on the vet to tell me the things i needed to be concerned about. Last year, the doctor told me to start hand brushing her teeth by hand because there was some tartar build up. With no change over the next year, I made an appointment with a vet dental place (Pet Dental USA). The appointment came after her renewed vet appointment here. I let him know that I made the appointment and all he said is that was a good idea, gave her her shots, and asked me if I had any questions, and I was on my way. At the vet dentist, apparently my dog had periodontal disease this whole time. The distended tooth my dog had since she was a pup that the vet at this place told me not to worry about apparently was causing her pain this whole time, and she had a missing front tooth I didn't notice. The vet dentist took her blood to get it tested pre oral surgery. There were a couple of concerning number that the vet dentist recommended me talk to my normal vet about (this place..). I called the vet and had the bloodwork sent to them to review. It took them 3 WEEKS to get back to me, and their recommendation was to try prescription food and retest her blood in a month. I dont know about your dogs but mine is VERY picky and this place gave me a bad vibe with the delay and the quick jump to a recommendation of switching food. I saw a different vet (Priority Pet Hospital) to get my pup checked up because of that bad feeling. They caught all the issues with her teeth right away! Were very thorough, and even tested her urine to get her kidney function tested becuae of the bloodwork results. They gave a food amount adjustment recommendation instead of switching to prescription food like the other place and adjusted the frequency of checkups to every 6 months. My dog had to be put under to get oral surgery to get 4 teeth removed (2 around the distended tooth, the distended tooth, and one in the back of her mouth) and get her teeth from the periodontal disease cleaned up. My dog is doing well and I'm at ease knowing she is in better care. She was in pain for SO long with no outward warning signs that I would have been able to know. The checks the doctor here at VCA Elliot does aren't thorough enough, and I feel like the recommendation of prescription dog food was a cop out to giving actual care for potentially residual monetary benefit from buying the prescription food from them. I also think a good veterinarian would know what periodontal disease looks like and what a dog in pain from a distended tooth looks like. I would have gotten her distended tooth taken care of and the periodontal disease taken care of WAY earlier. My dog had to suffer because of lack of knowledge/care here. Unacceptable. I would find a different place like Priority Pet Hospital to get your pets care.
