I bring my cats, Pink and Bassett here…. And I used to bring my cat Apple here God rest her soul. VCA is awesome. They give 110% attention and time to your pet. They’re flexible with scheduling. And they text you to see how your pet is doing. I really like how I can go on their website and order stuff too. And I really like how they have a lot of stuff my cat needs in stock ex; pill assist for medications, treats that relax them because if you have a cat you know how hard it is to make them comfortable in unfamiliar places.

Wish I could say take your pet here but I can’t. We have taken our pets here since before the VCA took over. This is not the same place it was when Dr. E. owned it. Thought that the vet was great up until my pet took a turn for the worse. Then their true colors shined through. Needed to take my pet in as she was suffering. Waited for a return phone call from the vet, Dr. F. himself that never came. Only got excuses from the staff and then was told he left for the day. Needless to say our poor baby did not make it. Still have not gotten a return call from the vet. I wouldn’t take my pet flea to them. We did get an apology but it was too little too late. Very disappointed in them. They should be ashamed of themselves.

VCA has been my cats primary veterinarian since I moved to CT and other than their absolutely OUTRAGEOUS prices for basic appointments I’ve been pleased with their care and kindness. However, I recently found a cat “in the wild”, so skinny, covered in fleas etc. I took her in and she is now a loved member of my household. But the cost of getting a street cat vaccinated, spayed, examined, tested was beyond what I would have thought. It would have cost me more than $5k+ and I simply could not afford that. At that point I was felling super deflated and thought I’d have to take her to a rescue but every single one was at capacity! Which I took as a sign that she was meant to be with me. I called VCA and asked if they had resources for people like me, who don’t have an extra $5k laying around and they said simply “no.” Of course, I did my own research after that and found tons of services and my amazing co-workers all pitched in to help me out, however, you’d think a vet clinic would have resources like that… are they not in the field to help animals???? The holidays are tricky with pets because you either have to take them with you, which will cost you money and likely stress them out, get a pet sitter, which again (obviously) costs money, or get them boarded, which is VERY expensive. I called around and looked online at several places and found them all to be SO EXPENSIVE (also, why do they ALL charge extra for you to see your pet on camera????), finally I called VCA and was surprised when the lady I spoke with on the phone said it could only be $135 for both cats for a week, which was the cheapest I’d found so far. I booked with her over the phone and decided to also get them a nail trim since it was so cheap… and here’s why I’m writing this review. I came to pick them up today and the older woman was first, so rude, I’ve had several interactions with her before and she is the least friendly and welcoming person in the office. Secondly, she tells me the price, I’m expecting around $200-$215, NOPE! $537!!! I was so taken aback and told her “that is not the price the woman on the phone told me”, like I said before I called many places to find the cheapest (safest) one. Initially, I was happy to find that VCA did cat boarding, you just never know what can happen so having them boarded at a clinic where they’d be around professionals gave me a sense of relief. I’m now sitting in my car writing this review because I’m just so upset, I don’t have a lot of extra funds, I make just enough money to live (yay America), now I can’t do my grocery shopping or put gas in my car. I’m mostly upset by the major discrepancy between the price I was told and the price I just paid. I’m lucky I was able to pay, but what if I weren’t? They don’t provide a payment plan, or offer outside resources and the woman I was speaking with was so rude. I’m beyond frustrated and upset.
