Dr de Silvia and her staff have been delivering wonderful care for my two senior felines for many years, including one who was a diabetic who loved to be almost 18yo. They are a loving and caring clinic who cared for our fur babies and their parents too. These clinicians are wonderful.

Imagine a place where your furry, scaled, or feathered family members receive the highest standard of medical attention in a comforting and supportive environment. This is the essence of a quality pet hospital. These facilities are more than just places for check-ups; they are centers dedicated to the complete health lifecycle of your pets, offering everything from preventative care to complex medical and surgical treatments.

Let's take a closer look at VCA Cornerstone Animal Hospital, based on the information available, to understand the key aspects of a comprehensive veterinary care provider. While physically located in the USA, the services and environment described exemplify what you can expect from reputable pet hospitals potentially listed on our platform for local users in Singapore.

Environment: A welcoming and clean environment is paramount in any pet hospital. Based on the positive review, VCA Cornerstone Animal Hospital fosters a "loving and caring clinic" atmosphere. This suggests a space where both pets and their owners feel comfortable and at ease. A well-maintained facility with separate waiting areas for different types of animals (e.g., cats and dogs) can significantly reduce stress. Examination rooms are typically equipped with the necessary tools for thorough check-ups, and surgical suites are sterile environments adhering to strict hygiene protocols. While the reviews don't explicitly detail the physical layout, the mention of a "loving and caring clinic" implies a focus on creating a positive experience for patients.

Services: A comprehensive pet hospital offers a wide array of services to address various healthcare needs of pets. These generally include:

  • Preventative Care: This is the cornerstone of pet health and includes routine check-ups, vaccinations, parasite control (fleas, ticks, heartworms), and nutritional counseling. The positive review mentions "wonderful care" for senior felines over many years, suggesting a strong emphasis on ongoing health management.
  • Diagnostics: Modern pet hospitals are equipped with advanced diagnostic tools such as digital radiography (X-rays), ultrasound, laboratory services (blood tests, urine tests, fecal analysis), and sometimes more specialized imaging like CT scans or MRIs. These tools help veterinarians accurately diagnose illnesses and injuries.
  • Surgery: Pet hospitals offer a range of surgical procedures, from routine spays and neuters to more complex soft tissue and orthopedic surgeries. Anesthesia monitoring and pain management are crucial aspects of surgical services.
  • Dentistry: Dental health is vital for pets. Services include teeth cleaning, polishing, extractions, and treatment of dental diseases.
  • Emergency and Critical Care: Many pet hospitals offer emergency services during their operating hours and some may have 24/7 critical care units for pets with life-threatening conditions.
  • Internal Medicine: This branch focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of diseases affecting the internal organs, such as diabetes (mentioned in the review), kidney disease, and gastrointestinal issues.
  • Dermatology: Addressing skin and ear problems, allergies, and other dermatological conditions.
  • Ophthalmology: Care for eye-related issues.
  • Behavioral Medicine: Some hospitals offer consultations and treatment plans for behavioral problems in pets.
  • Nutritional Counseling: Providing guidance on appropriate diets for different life stages and health conditions.
  • End-of-Life Care: Compassionate care and support during a pet's final stages, including euthanasia and cremation services.

The positive review specifically highlights the long-term care provided to senior felines, including one with diabetes. This indicates experience in managing chronic conditions and providing ongoing support for aging pets. The mention of "wonderful care" suggests a commitment to the overall well-being of their patients.

Features: Beyond the core services, pet hospitals often offer additional features that enhance the client experience:

  • Experienced and Compassionate Staff: The positive review explicitly praises "Dr de Silvia and her staff" for delivering "wonderful care" and being "loving and caring." This highlights the importance of a knowledgeable and empathetic team.
  • Appointment Scheduling: Efficient appointment systems, including online booking or phone scheduling, are crucial for convenience. The second review details an issue with appointment scheduling, emphasizing the need for clear communication and accurate record-keeping.
  • Communication and Transparency: Keeping pet owners informed about their pet's condition, treatment plans, and costs is essential for building trust. The negative review points to a lack of empathy and unprofessional communication from one staff member regarding a scheduling error.
  • Clean and Comfortable Facilities: As mentioned earlier, a pleasant environment contributes to a positive experience.
  • Advanced Technology: Access to modern diagnostic and treatment equipment allows for more accurate diagnoses and effective treatments.
  • Client Education: Providing pet owners with information on preventative care, disease management, and general pet health.
  • Online Portals or Apps: Some hospitals offer online platforms for appointment requests, prescription refills, and access to pet medical records.

The contrasting reviews for VCA Cornerstone Animal Hospital highlight the importance of both excellent medical care and exceptional customer service. While the first review praises the clinical expertise and compassionate approach, the second details a negative experience due to unprofessional communication and a perceived lack of empathy regarding a scheduling misunderstanding.

Promotional Information: While the provided information doesn't include specific promotional offers, pet hospitals often engage in various marketing efforts to attract and retain clients. These might include:

  • New Client Specials: Offering discounted initial exams or vaccinations for new patients.
  • Wellness Plans: Bundled packages of preventative care services at a discounted rate.

I scheduled two pet appointments, one for 5:40pm and the other for 6pm. Upon arrival, VCA called me, stating that I was late and needed to reschedule. I informed the representative that I was doing a U-turn turning into VCA and had arrived. The representative incorrectly claimed that I had scheduled both appointments for 5:40pm, which I denied, informing I have screenshot evidence of the different appointment times. I said okay, I did schedule one for 6pm and asked if there is anyway to see one of my pets. She proceeds to say no you schedule both for 5:40 as if it was a blame game of you a lying for a good minute or so. I informed her no ma’am I did not repeatedly there was no way possible for me to schedule both pets for 5:40 unless you all went in and changed it. The representative then admitted that VCA had altered the schedule, but still expected me to arrive at 5:40pm with both pets. Then states we need to get you rescheduled. Due to the representative's unprofessional tone and lack of empathy, I inquired about alternative VCA locations in the area. She says yes there are multiple. I told her Okay well I’ll reschedule with one of them because at this point from the time she spoke her tone was rude and very much lacked empathy. I disconnect Then, I recall she didn’t tell me her name…. So I went in and Upon entering, I politely inquired about the individual who had called me. Corey, speaking in a notably cheerful tone, identified herself as the caller. I subsequently exited. In my car, I accessed my app to reschedule appointments for both my pets at a nearby VCA facility. Notably, I discovered available time slots at 7:00 and 7:20 PM that same day today, which Corey had attempted to reschedule for another day . As you just attempted to argue me down and you have a 7pm. When I informed her that I was making a U-turn into the parking lot of the hospital as someone who would not lack empathy who would’ve informed the patient/customer, Miss Bethea, due to your 10-minute delay, may we adjust your appointment to 7 o'clock today, if that time is suitable for you, keeping in mind our policy regarding the 10-minute grace period. I would not tried to very much point a finger at a patient/customer becoming argumentative. I had previously interacted with Corey, who consistently displayed a highly rude attitude and a condescending manner. I'd like to emphasize that we're living in critical times, and it's essential to be mindful of how we communicate with others, as our words can significantly impact them. Although I was late, my concern lies not with the policy itself, but rather with the manner in which it was conveyed. As a firm believer in the golden rule, I strive to treat others with the same respect and kindness that I expect in return. In this instance, I chose to respond in a more courteous manner than I was initially addressed.

We did not have a good experience. Today, due to desperation and bad weather, we got the VCA location wrong (our VCA clinic is Parkway and not this one). We went with our furry baby who was in a lot of pain in his back leg, zero empathy from the team. The girl who speaks Spanish is very kind, but the only thing they offered us was to take him in the afternoon because "it was not an emergency" when obviously our baby was in pain and difficulty in his leg. Did he have to be dying to get checked out? Animals can't tell you how bad they feel and that as dog parents makes us feel much worse, the discomfort and pain were obvious and the solution offered was to wait until 4:30 for his appointment? It wasn't even 8 in the morning. We left with a bad taste in our mouths and we will definitely not return. Thank God we immediately went to VCA Parkway and as always they treated us wonderfully. We recommend VCA Parkway, do not go to VCA Cornerstone.

The team at VCA Cornerstone truly treat you and your pets like family. I met them about 8 years ago after moving here and needed help with my senior dog in his final days. They have truly been incredible over the years as we added more fur babies (and hooman babies) to our pack. They have supported us and have given us the education and guidance necessary to give our fur babies the care they needed. Most recently, we unfortunately had to say goodbye to one of our pack- it was an impossible decision that I would wish on no one. They were so caring, compassionate, reassuring and truly there for us. Things have changed since I said goodbye to my senior dog about 8 years ago, and the recent office renovation includes a comfortable room that looks more like a living room than a dr office. Allowing us to give our final hugs and belly ear scratches before saying goodbye to Wrigley as he crossed the rainbow bridge. Since then our other 2 dogs have been back for their preventive care and dental cleaning. Dr. DeSilvia, Dr.Wahl, Kyleigh, and Caitlin are all incredible. We missed them terribly when we moved to Texas for a couple years before moving back. I cannot recommend them enough! Quality vet care is not cheap, and I truly feel like you get what you pay for- however the care club program makes it much more affordable and easier to budget for the expected and unexpected.

For the right pet owner this place is great, but isn't a great fit for my family. I have no doubts about the competency or friendliness of the staff at this animal clinic. They are always helpful and kind. They have a lot of cutting edge vet technology and if you've got the money and your pet is your world, this is the place for you. However it does feel like they push these test and treatments as if money is no object. Many of us don't have unlimited budgets and we are more looking for a reasonable treatment cost to benefit ratio. If you just go along with whatever they recommend, while you'll get top notch care you'll be out a good bit of money particularly if dealing with a chronic condition. I'm also dealing with an issue with them where a blood panel was done so we could get a dental cleaning done. At the same visit I picked up a new prescription. Now I'm being notified that I have to redo the blood panel about two weeks later to see how the new medication affects the dog before they can do the dental work. Its frustrating that this wasn't communicated in advance as I would have waited for the dog to be on the meds before doing the blood panel. When asked if we could delay the medicine for 2 weeks till after the cleaning so we wouldn't have to pay for another one, the vet really pushed the medicine hard for a chronic heart condition that the animal currently suffers no ill effects from and we've known about for almost 2 years. Update: After a week, they called and this was resolved to my satisfaction and thank you to their staff. All in all, its a fine clinic medically but I feel that they really go for the most aggressive (and expensive) treatments by default.
