I took our beloved family dog in who was acting off and started to have tremors. We were so pleased with the great care we received and immediately she was taken back by the doctor to evaluate! The doctor was very knowledgeable and helped us with blood testing and xrays finding out our dog was severely hypocalcemic and had a seizure, we needed to get her to the Emergency vet for overnight care immediately. Our dog was very sick and had we gone straight to the ER due to the busy lobby, I’m not confident that they would have brought her back right away or had her results back immediately. The VCA dr called the ER and said we needed immediate treatment. The ER immediately started a calcium treatment. This saved us money and more importantly possibly our dogs life! She is home now after 3 days in intensive care. Thank you VCA Castle Shannon for helping us and taking care of us right away even though you are not serving emergency services anymore you took the time to be kind!

Based on the available information, VCA Castle Shannon Animal Hospital offers diagnostic services, including blood testing and X-rays. One отзыв highlights a situation where their dog presented with tremors and was quickly evaluated. The отзыв praised the doctor's knowledge in diagnosing severe hypocalcemia and a seizure through blood tests and X-rays. This suggests that the hospital is equipped to perform in-house diagnostics to aid in the prompt identification of medical conditions.

The отзыв also mentions that while VCA Castle Shannon Animal Hospital no longer provides emergency services directly, they demonstrated a commitment to patient well-being by facilitating immediate transfer and communication with an emergency veterinary hospital. The отзыв specifically notes that the VCA doctor contacted the emergency vet and emphasized the need for immediate calcium treatment, potentially saving the dog's life. This indicates a willingness to go the extra mile in ensuring pets receive timely and appropriate care, even if it involves referral to another facility.

However, other отзывs present concerns regarding appointment scheduling and communication. One отзыв describes an appointment being canceled due to a lack of confirmation, with the client stating they were out of town and planned to return the call. They reported leaving a voicemail and receiving an expired text message link for confirmation. This отзыв suggests potential issues with the clarity of the confirmation process and communication regarding appointment status.

Another отзыв echoes these concerns, detailing a similar experience where an appointment was seemingly canceled without clear communication, leading to disappointment as the pet owner had relied on this appointment for their unwell cat. The отзыв emphasizes the need for clearer communication regarding appointment confirmation requirements.

A follow-up edit from the second reviewer further illustrates the communication challenges, recounting a phone call where they were informed they had missed an appointment they believed was canceled. This series of отзывs suggests that while the medical care provided may be competent, there appear to be areas for improvement in appointment scheduling and client communication.

Given these mixed отзывs, local users in Pittsburgh, PA, considering VCA Castle Shannon Animal Hospital should be aware of both the positive aspects highlighted in the emergency situation отзыв and the potential challenges related to appointment management described in the other отзывs. Two days before the appointment I got a call saying it was being cancelled because I hadn’t confirmed the appointment. I hadn’t answered the confirmation calls because I was out of town but planned on calling them back the day they called me. I called them back to say I still needed the appointment and to please not cancel. I left a voicemail since there was no answer. Day of the appointment and I haven’t heard anything. They sent me a text message with a link that’s expired. I’m really disappointed. My cat has been in pain and I felt terrible for leaving town while he wasn’t feeling well but I took comfort knowing he had an appointment as soon as I got back into town. If answering the confirmation calls is a requirement to keep your appointment that information needs to be made clearer. I didn’t see anything about that in the confirmation email or on the booking website. EDIT: Called again today to make an appointment. Was told “you were supposed to be here today” even though I hadn’t confirmed gotten a call that the appointment was cancelled and I never received another call saying I still had the appointment.

Always a warm welcome and heart filled care! As first time cat parents, they have guided us and kept us in the know. We value their services and would recommend them!

My pup Lu-Lu, happy and boundless energy, still greets the staff with exuberance. I hope she continues to see the technicians with those adorable eyes of hers and barely contained enthusiasm. Saying this because I feel as an owner it's important that my dog doesn't fear the staff that's treating her, or has anxiety about going to a doctor. She still has neither of these and I think that's 'pawsitive.'

Had a weekend emergency with one of our pups. They scheduled an emergency visit. The staff and veterinarian were professional, kind, and helpful. I'm sure every weekend the emergency slots fill up quickly, we called early on a Sunday and were given one of the last afternoon spots. It is really nice to have an appointment vs waiting hours in a waiting room. My pup needed a muzzle for her ear puncture...they allowed me to muzzle which I believe was the best option. They took great care of us and we found the expert care was reasonably priced.
