VCA California Veterinary Specialists-Carlsbad

My cat is a new diabetic. It’s been a learning curve and very stressful. My main doctor at the Oceanside VCA instructed me to come to this location when it is an emergency. Every doctor and technician has been wonderful, transparent and have gone above and beyond to help my little one. I had two emergencies with in 24 hours with diabetes complications while we are adjusting to insulin. The receptionists have a calm and professional demeanor which has helped my panic and stress. The techs have shown my little one love and care that goes above and beyond. The doctors are calm, patient and educational with all of my questions, worries and concerns. I thank them tremendously for helping my baby during this scary time and has placed assurance and comfort to my anxiety and stress.

I brought in my puppy, mid seizure and of course I was panicking, crying and felt like I was going to faint because it was too much emotion for me to handle. I would have appreciated more compassion from the staff. They didn't ask if I needed water or anything to help calm me down, couldn't even catch a breath before one the staff members came out with a clipboard telling me it'll be a $1,000 deposit. Some compassion at the moment would have been nice. Felt super transactional, felt more like they cared about money then trying to help pet owners in a vulnerable state. I hope no one else ever experiences the treatment I received.

Truely truely a great vet for cancer dogs. My dog normally she is scared of vets but she loves coming here everytime we come they see her and automatically know her name. My dog she recently got her cancer spread even with their best efforts and they were sad with me and comforted us. I cannot stress enough how great of a vet this place is. There is no surprises when it comes to price and they double check the price before they do any procedures and gives me options. We arent here for the best of the reasons but they make the process painless. Special shoutout to all the oncology team and Dr. Proulx for all the support and care you give to kangi our family loves the whole team!

I’m very thankful with VCA for saving my cats life!! Our baby had a medical emergency. He had a urinary blockage which was live threatening. They admitted him right away and assessed him in case he didn’t have to get a surgery. They treated us with compassion and respect. It ended being that our beloved pet needed the surgery in order to live. They were very kind and they would call us 2 times per day to give us updates on his condition. They treated us like family, let us visit him anytime too. He stayed in the hospital for about a week. There’s no words to express how grateful we are because without VCA our beloved pet wouldn’t have survived!! He’s 3 years old and has a lot to live for and lots of love to give and receive. I highly recommend VCA!! From the bottom of our hearts Thank you VCA!!

Had such a kind experience here. Unfortunate circumstances but very thankful this was the first number that came up when I had to call the closest emergency vet for my little sister’s cat when she passed away. The staff were all so gentle and kind and sympathetic and made the process of cremation and saying goodbye as easy as it could have been. Thank you so much ladies, you made a difference!
