VCA Appalachian Animal Hospital is extremely expensive. Costs for routine visits are very high and sick visits/procedures/treatments are outrageous. Jana Cargile is a horrible person. Not only did she refuse to listen to us regarding out dog's health issues, she was condescending, rude and went as far as yelling at me. Ridiculous. She has very strong opinions on pet care and refuses to hear any other suggestions or points of view. She suggested that our elderly and very ill dog had "stair anxiety". The only reason that we can give this practice 1 star is that David Roberson was both kind and understanding of our situation. He was gentle and compassionate with our dog. However we simply cannot recommend this practice.

Mar 06, 2025 · Jennifer RussDo not go here. Made me wait an hour past my appointment, struggled to draw blood poking my dog at least a dozen times, and they wanted over $2500 to do what another vet did for $446. They try and take advantage of you. Horrible experience. Should be reported to the BBB.
Mar 20, 2025 · Talbert aSHLEYDr. Cargile is awesome. She takes the time to hear the issue, our dogs like her, and she is knowledgeable. We have had a couple of bad experiences (with making appointments and a different vet). We signed up for their wellness program, and it has saved us money.
Jul 09, 2023 · Jennifer WilliamsReception very hateful on the phone when I was trying to get prescription refilled and I had used another vet, and hateful Reception said well why don't you call the other vet, instead of trying to help me. Nice way to treat somebody. Never again. I should of know years ago when a vet let our cat die on the table..should of known better...
Nov 02, 2024 · Carole MontgomeryMy 4yo cat, Bleu, had surgery to repair his bladder in Chattanooga. After recovery, he visited VCA for treatment related to his bladder. Dr. Cargile and her team have been wonderful with him. He ate a tiny portion of a lily, and they helped to save his life. Most recently, he had a UTI, which is very uncomfotable for him. Once again, they diagnosed and treated him accurately, quickly, and found a treatment protocol just for him that has already helped him be a much, much healthier kitty!!
