VCA Animal Medical Center of El Cajon

I brought my senior dog here and the elder lady at the front desk was so rude. Not only did she turn us away for being “over booked and we don’t have time” but she was completely rude about it and showed ZERO empathy. I wish I would’ve gotten her name but I was scrambling to get my dog help. He died in the car on the way to the other VCA location she sent us to. I do not recommend this location if this is how their front desk staff is, such lack of compassion. And sadly I heard this isn’t the first time she’s done this. Save your pets life and do not go here. And to the lady at the front desk, retire if you hate your job this much. You do not belong in the vet field.

The best place to take your fur babies. The staff is friendly, helpful, and professional. Everyone is very welcoming and the entire process and experience is easy. Spacious waiting area, potty areas, cat corner, television, magazines and complementary beverages! All of my pets have received special care and treatment...I feel like he is their only patient, they call him by name and are very warm with him. Amazing staff and pet interaction...amazing staff and parent interaction.

My dog has been scratching at his ear for a month. There’s brownish black substance in his ear. His ear is swollen and irritated from scratching. We waited in the exam room and they took my dog to the back and brought him back 10 minutes later saying he’s fine. They’re either dishonest or incompetent. Really disappointed with the quality of service. They always claim my dogs are fine even though there’s definitely something wrong. I gave them a second and third chance in good faith…unfortunately it’s been an expensive mistake. I really don’t trust this place. Flako, Grizzly and Nova will not be coming back here. Basically I paid over $200 for one Simparica Trio tablet on Grizzly’s latest visit. Lies or incompetence? How many thousands of dollars will they try and collect while my dog suffers!?! Just a few months before this, they failed to discover another ear infection, that trip cost me over $600. Foolishly I entrusted them again. Good news is…I took the dogs to Bastet Animal Hospital and El Cajon Valley Veterinarian. Now they’re doing great. Healthy and happy, zero thanks to VCA. I’d hate to show up to a job everyday if I was bad at it… In&Out is hiring.

Found and rescued male kitten being attached by dogs in alley downtown San Diego. Took him to VCA, they picked him up from the car, check them out, had an injured right paw. Vet and staff communicated every step of the way from surgery to release. They were so great. Thank you VCA. He is a handsome, playful and very sweet new member of our family, named Mr. Blue.

kind, compassionate, expensive sometimes but mostly affordable. been coming to this vet for over 5 years now and just a always the best kind care. thanks y'all my baby and I appreciate you so much. also I took this photo about how they will NOT have an overnight doctor and changed some hours around (photo taken 12/20/19), still good good service
