Went in January for exam, heartworm test and refill along with rabies vaccine. They did the exam, hearworm test and gave meds. They did not do rabies because no doctor avail on day of appointment. Went at later date for rabies today and they try sneaking in another $100+ exam (check ears, eyes and listen to heart!!). I said I’m not paying that he just had it done. One lady comes back and lies to my face saying it’s law they have to exam first. Quick google search and it’s not!!! Not only do she lie to my face another vet (lady) comes in and makes an excuse for her lying to me saying she has the right to chose for an exam!! No you have the right to steal another $100+ dollars from a customer you just lied to and talked to like crap. Then she says I think you need to go. Gladly EDIT 4/11/2025: even the replies of these people are generic. The owner, vets there only care about taking your money and up-charging!

Welcome to VCA Animal Hospital of Vernon
VCA Animal Hospital of Vernon, located at 155 Talcottville Rd, Vernon, CT 06066, USA, operates as a "Pet Hospital" providing veterinary care for local pet owners. As part of the larger VCA Animal Hospitals network, it benefits from the resources and standardized protocols of a national veterinary care provider. The hospital can be contacted by phone at (860) 872-7351, with a mobile phone alternative being +1 860-872-7351. While specific operating hours are not detailed in the provided information, VCA hospitals typically offer extended hours on weekdays and often have weekend appointments. It is always advisable for pet owners to confirm the current hours and appointment availability directly with the clinic.
The physical environment of VCA Animal Hospital of Vernon, like other VCA locations, is generally designed to be professional, clean, and equipped to handle a range of veterinary procedures. The reception area is typically set up to accommodate pets and their owners, and examination rooms are equipped for routine check-ups. Given it's part of a large network, the environment would likely adhere to corporate standards for cleanliness and organization. Customer experiences, however, can influence the perceived atmosphere. While one review mentions a positive visit where the staff (Dr. Nobert and assistant) were "very gentle with my cat," another describes a highly contentious experience regarding billing practices and staff communication. This suggests that while the physical premises aim for a professional standard, the client's perception of the environment can be significantly shaped by interactions with staff and clarity around financial matters. A positive environment is one where pet owners feel informed, respected, and that their concerns are genuinely addressed.
As a "Pet Hospital" under the VCA umbrella, this facility offers a broad range of veterinary services for dogs and cats, common to general practice animal hospitals. These services are designed to address both preventive care and acute health issues.
-
General Wellness and Preventive Care: This is a core offering, including routine physical examinations, which are essential for overall health assessment. Vaccinations, such as the Rabies vaccine, are standard to protect pets from infectious diseases. Heartworm testing and refills for heartworm medication are also provided, as noted by a client.
-
Diagnostic Services: The hospital performs various diagnostic tests to identify and understand pet health conditions. This includes in-house laboratory tests like heartworm tests, and likely other common tests such as blood work and urinalysis. For specific conditions like an eye scratch, they are equipped to diagnose and treat.
-
Treatment for Illness and Injury: They provide medical attention for pets experiencing illness or injuries. One review specifically highlights successful diagnosis and treatment of an eye scratch, indicating their capability to handle common acute conditions.
-
Medication and Prescriptions: The hospital dispenses necessary medications and facilitates prescription refills, as evidenced by the client seeking a heartworm medication refill.
-
Urgent Care/Same-Day Appointments: While not a 24/7 emergency center, the ability to get an animal in the "day after I called" for an eye scratch suggests a capacity for urgent or same-day appointments, which is a valuable service for unexpected pet health issues.
-
Dental Care: While not explicitly mentioned in the provided reviews, VCA Animal Hospitals typically offer routine dental cleanings and extractions as part of their comprehensive care.
-
Surgical Services: General surgical procedures like spaying, neutering, and other common soft tissue surgeries are standard offerings at VCA clinics.
-
Microchipping: A common service for pet identification and recovery.
VCA Animal Hospital of Vernon, as part of the VCA network, possesses several features common to the brand, along with specific aspects highlighted by local customer feedback:
-
Part of a National Network: Being a VCA Animal Hospital provides access to a broader network of veterinary specialists, advanced diagnostic capabilities, and standardized protocols. This can be beneficial for complex cases or referrals. The VCA brand often signifies a commitment to quality and access to resources.
-
Accessibility for Urgent Needs: The quick scheduling, such as getting a cat in "the day after I called" for an eye scratch, indicates a commendable responsiveness for urgent, though not necessarily critical, conditions. This is a crucial feature for pet owners concerned about timely care.
-
Professional Staff (Mixed Reviews): While one review highly praises Dr. Nobert and his assistant for being "very gentle" and providing effective diagnosis and treatment for an eye scratch, another review details significant dissatisfaction with certain staff members, citing perceived dishonesty and poor communication regarding billing practices ("lies to my face," "talked to like crap"). This indicates that while individual practitioners may be highly regarded, consistency in customer service and billing transparency can be a point of concern for some clients.
-
Cost Perception (Mixed Reviews): One client found the cost "reasonable" for their visit, while another explicitly accused the clinic of "up-charging" and "taking your money," particularly in relation to recurring exam fees for separate services. This suggests that pricing can be a subjective experience for clients and that clear communication about all charges is essential.
-
Standardized Care Protocols: As part of the VCA network, the hospital likely follows standardized care protocols and quality control measures, which can contribute to consistent medical practices.
As a VCA Animal Hospital, the Vernon location benefits from and likely promotes various programs and advantages offered by the larger VCA network. While specific, time-limited promotions for this exact location are not detailed, the typical VCA promotional offerings include:
-
VCA CareClub Wellness Plans: This is a major promotional offering from VCA. CareClub plans are designed to make preventive pet care more affordable and predictable. They typically involve a monthly fee and cover a range of services, such as unlimited exams, necessary vaccinations, routine diagnostic tests, and sometimes discounts on other services. For pet owners with multiple pets or those committed to consistent preventive care, these plans can represent significant savings. The promotional angle is often around "budgeting for your pet's health" and ensuring comprehensive care without unexpected large bills for routine services.
-
First-Time Visit Offers: VCA often provides incentives for new clients, such as a discounted or complimentary first examination. This aims to encourage pet owners to experience their services and build a relationship with the hospital.
-
Online Pharmacy and Home Delivery: VCA offers convenient online pharmacies for ordering medications and food, often with home delivery options. This adds a layer of convenience for clients and ensures access to trusted veterinary products.
-
MyVCA App: VCA promotes its mobile app, which allows clients to manage appointments, access medical records, order prescriptions, and connect with their veterinary team, streamlining the pet care experience.
-
National Network Access: While not a direct discount, the benefit of being part of a large network means that if a client travels or moves, their pet's records can be easily transferred to another VCA hospital, ensuring continuity of care. This is a strong promotional point for mobile pet owners.
-
Commitment to Quality and Advanced Medicine: VCA generally promotes its commitment to high-quality medicine, advanced technology, and continuous education for its staff, which indirectly promotes the level of care available at its individual hospitals.
It is important for prospective clients to contact VCA Animal Hospital of Vernon directly at (860) 872-7351 to inquire about current promotions, particularly the VCA CareClub plans, and to get transparent pricing for services. While experiences regarding billing and communication can vary, as indicated by the reviews, the hospital aims to provide comprehensive veterinary care backed by the resources of the VCA network.

Apr 11, 2025 · Mike LitalienI was very happy with my visit here. Dr. Nobert and his assistant were very gentle with my cat and diagnosed and treated his eye scratch. Scheduling was easy. They got him in the day after I called. The cost was reasonable.
May 07, 2025 · Joy BartmonVCA Vernon is always so professional and helpful. I’ve been bringing my dog for 5 years. Their level of service and follow ups are top notch. I’ll never forget the time I was on vacation with my dog and having a text conversation with VCA Vernon because they just wanted to double check that my dog was doing okay while traveling with me. Thank you all at VCA Vernon.
Apr 01, 2025 · Jacqueline AlgarinDon’t Waste your time very unprofessional, rude, and racist receptionist, especially the office manager, Nancy. If you want to get your medication on hand, you can forget about it they don’t even carry the necessary medications on sight. Prepaid medication told me they will call me within 1 week almost 3 weeks passed by. I heard nothing from them. I guess they wanted to just keep the money. When I called the rude racist manager told me that they will never call to update clients. What kind of veterinary stuff are you running. I even had to tell the doctor to prescribe my cat a specific medication I saw all the cats getting on Google that the doctor didn’t even bring up. I felt like I was diagnosing my own cat. Again beware of vets like these it’s not my first time dealing with these unprofessional, racist, LAZY money hungry veterinary staff. And the reason I say money is because their mood changes when they think that you can’t pay them. 🤣 ridiculous, they’re a joke. Don’t waste your time bringing your pets here.
