So greatful to the team at URvet (57 st.) The doctor's performed surgery for Linear obstruction on my kitty, Prince & They saved his life. URvet didn't charge me a dime for this surgery which other wise I wouldn't have been able to afford. God Bless the Doctors at URvet! I'am forever grateful to them.

Welcome to URvet Care Upper East Side (Midtown Medical Center is Open 24/7)

Welcome to the detailed introduction of URvet Care Upper East Side, located at 1432 2nd Ave, New York, NY 10021, USA, with the significant feature of their Midtown Medical Center being open 24/7. Operating within the Pet Hospital category, URvet Care aims to provide veterinary services to the Upper East Side community and beyond, with the added benefit of round-the-clock availability at their Midtown location for emergency and urgent care needs. This introduction will objectively assess the environment, services, and features based on the provided customer reviews, while acknowledging the limited scope of information regarding promotional activities.

The environment of URvet Care Upper East Side, based on the address provided, is a physical clinic located on 2nd Avenue in Manhattan. While the reviews primarily focus on the quality of care and staff interactions, the mention of a "team at URvet (57 st.)" in one positive review suggests that URvet Care may have multiple locations, and the 24/7 Midtown Medical Center is a distinct facility. The positive review alludes to a setting where life-saving surgery could be performed, indicating the presence of surgical facilities and necessary medical equipment at at least one of their locations (likely the Midtown center). In contrast, the negative review describes a less reassuring environment, where the staff's demeanor did not instill confidence in pet owners leaving their animals in their care. This suggests that the perceived environment and staff interactions can vary significantly based on individual experiences and potentially the specific location or team encountered.

The services offered by URvet Care appear to be comprehensive, ranging from routine care to emergency and surgical interventions, given the 24/7 availability of their Midtown Medical Center. Based on the customer reviews, the services include:

  • Surgical procedures: The positive review explicitly mentions a life-saving surgery for a linear obstruction in a cat, indicating the capability to perform complex surgical interventions.
  • Emergency and urgent care: The 24/7 operation of the Midtown Medical Center strongly suggests a focus on providing immediate care for pets in critical situations.
  • Diagnostic services: Bloodwork is mentioned in the negative review, indicating the availability of laboratory testing to aid in diagnoses. However, the discrepancy in the interpretation of bloodwork results raises concerns about the accuracy or thoroughness of their diagnostic processes.
  • Routine examinations and procedures: While not explicitly detailed, a standard pet hospital would typically offer wellness exams, vaccinations, parasite control, and other routine preventative care.
  • Handling of various animal temperaments: The negative review suggests challenges in handling a distressed cat, implying that the staff may not always be adequately trained or equipped to manage animals with behavioral issues during procedures.

The features of URvet Care are noteworthy, particularly the 24/7 availability of their Midtown Medical Center, which provides a significant benefit for pet owners facing emergencies outside of regular business hours. The ability to perform complex surgeries, as highlighted in the positive review, is another crucial feature indicating a higher level of medical capability. However, the negative review points out several critical features that detract from the overall positive potential:

  • Perceived lack of care or training in handling distressed animals, leading to incomplete procedures and negative experiences for both the pet and owner.
  • Staff attitude issues that do not help pet owners feel at ease when leaving their animals.
  • Potential gaps in staff knowledge, as indicated by the receptionist's unfamiliarity with a common procedure for cats.
  • Concerns about the accuracy and thoroughness of diagnostic interpretations, as evidenced by the missed diagnosis of kidney disease.
  • Ineffective communication or follow-through that could lead to delays in necessary care.

The stark contrast between the two reviews suggests a potential inconsistency in the quality of care or service experienced at URvet Care, possibly varying between locations (Upper East Side vs. Midtown) or depending on the specific staff encountered. The positive review, while deeply appreciative of the life-saving surgery, does not provide details about the overall environment or routine services. The negative review offers specific examples of shortcomings in handling, staff knowledge, and diagnostic accuracy, raising concerns about the overall competence and care standards experienced by some clients.

Promotional information is not included in the provided reviews. Typically, pet hospitals may offer promotions such as:

  • New client discounts for initial examinations.
  • Wellness packages bundling preventative care services at a reduced cost.
  • Discounts on specific procedures or vaccinations during certain times.
  • Emergency care specials (though less common).
  • Loyalty programs for regular clients.

To ascertain any current promotional offers at URvet Care Upper East Side or their Midtown Medical Center, it would be necessary to contact them directly at (646) 535-9220 or +1 646-535-9220. Their staff would be able to provide information on any special deals or packages they may be currently offering.

In conclusion, URvet Care Upper East Side, with its affiliated 24/7 Midtown Medical Center, offers the significant advantage of round-the-clock availability for emergency and urgent veterinary needs, as well as the capability to perform complex surgeries. However, the customer reviews present a mixed picture. While one review expresses profound gratitude for life-saving care, another details significant negative experiences related to staff handling of distressed animals, perceived lack of competence, and concerns about diagnostic accuracy. Local users should consider these contrasting experiences when evaluating URvet Care. It may be beneficial to inquire further about their protocols, staff training, and specific service offerings, especially if their pet has particular needs or sensitivities. Contacting URvet Care directly for more information and to discuss your pet's specific situation is recommended to make an informed decision about their services.

Both times I’ve brought my cat in, she’s left shaking, distressed and with clumps of fur coming out. The staff is unable to finish the job to be done each time and blames it on my cat’s behavior. We’ve never had problem with our prior vet so this feels more like a lack of care / training problem. Especially considering the staffs attitude at each interaction. They also don’t help you feel at ease that they’re taking your pet to the back without you or that they know what they are doing. When I brought my cat in for the second appointment, the receptionist asked me why I was having this procedure done for my cat because she’s only heard of it for dogs (????) . Would not recommend this practice. Going back to our previous vet who is more competent and caring. Edit: we have had the procedure done with another vet. She required no medication and she badly needed this procedure done. Shame on the URvet care staff for being unable to execute this the day we had it scheduled. Also- we got bloodwork done here for my cat in March. The vet told us she’s fine. 7 months later, we had another vet look at it and he said it shows stage II kidney disease. don’t waste your precious time providing the right care to your pet by coming to URvet care. I couldn’t recommend anyone more strongly to not go here.

Wonderful experience. I brought in a stray kitten that I had found and Dr. Cortes, with the help of Ambar and Gianmarco, got him all squared away after midnight on a Sunday night. Highly recommend. Also Lizeth, client services coordinator, was lovely to talk to when the pros were treating my new kitten. Bring your pets here!

I can’t recommend URVET enough! My cat’s health was deteriorating quickly, and their help was invaluable. The vet saw Maggie right away and in addition to a physical, supported her with fluids, antibiotic and nausea meds until bloods came back. Their attention was prompt and professional- I would highly recommend their practice. Five stars for URvet!!!!

I really wanted URVet to be our go-to vet since it’s so close to us, but the experience has been disappointing. The vets, especially Dr. Lopez and Dr. Revelas, are great, but the front desk and operations need serious improvement. In the last two appointments, we waited over 30 minutes, only to be told walk-ins and emergencies take priority over scheduled appointments. This shows poor staffing and scheduling to another reviewers point... The front desk staff is consistently disorganized and lacks clear, effective communication. Client satisfaction does not seem like a priority for them. As an example, just last week, they failed to return my call about an emergency visit, which pushed me to switch to VetCierge with Dr. Jeremy Lavine—highly recommend! I won’t return to URVet unless it’s my last resort. 2 starts because the vets and techs are great.
