Brought in my cat after vomiting several times and seeming in pain for hours. The staff was kind even with being very busy that evening and having long wait periods (my cat was comfortable and seemed ok, so the waiting was fine for us!) They had Feliway plug-ins that release calming pheromones and they let him roam around the room. They are fear-free certified - a big plus! Pricing is right between your regular vet and emergency vet. Fairly priced in my opinion.

Welcome to UrgentVet

For pet owners in Joliet, IL, knowing where to turn when your regular veterinarian's office is closed is crucial for the health and well-being of your beloved animals. Within the platform category of Pet Hospitals, UrgentVet offers a valuable service as an after-hours pet urgent care facility. This introduction aims to provide local users with detailed information about UrgentVet, combining insights from its description, address, contact information, and genuine customer reviews to paint an objective picture of its environment, services, features, and overall value proposition.

Located at 111 N Larkin Ave Suite F in Joliet, IL, 60435, UrgentVet provides a conveniently accessible option for pet owners facing urgent, non-life-threatening health concerns outside of their regular veterinarian's operating hours. You can reach them by phone at (815) 846-4600 or via their mobile number, +1 815-846-4600. Having a dedicated after-hours pet urgent care facility in the area offers peace of mind, knowing that quality veterinary attention is available when you need it most.

Based on the provided customer reviews, the environment at UrgentVet appears to be a significant positive aspect of their service. One reviewer specifically mentioned the presence of Feliway plug-ins, which release calming pheromones to help reduce anxiety in cats. This thoughtful detail suggests a conscious effort to create a stress-reduced environment for their patients. Furthermore, the review highlights that pets are made comfortable, even during busy periods with potential wait times. The ability for a cat to roam around the room indicates a more relaxed and less restrictive approach compared to some traditional veterinary settings.

The services offered at UrgentVet focus on addressing urgent medical needs that are not severe enough to warrant a full emergency veterinary hospital visit but still require prompt attention. Based on the positive experiences shared, these services likely include:

  • Evaluation and Treatment of Acute Illnesses: As evidenced by the cat brought in for vomiting and pain, UrgentVet handles sudden onset illnesses requiring diagnosis and treatment.
  • Care for Injuries: While not explicitly mentioned, urgent care facilities typically address recent injuries such as minor wounds, sprains, or strains.
  • Diagnostic Services: To accurately assess a pet's condition, UrgentVet likely offers essential diagnostic tools, although the specific types (e.g., X-rays, blood work) are not detailed in the provided information.
  • Pain Management: Ensuring the comfort of animals in distress is a priority, as indicated by the care provided to the cat experiencing pain.
  • Development of Care Plans: One reviewer specifically praised the time taken to develop a care plan for their dog with a delicate issue, highlighting a thorough and considered approach to treatment.

As an after-hours urgent care facility, UrgentVet fills a crucial gap between regular daytime veterinary care and 24/7 emergency veterinary hospitals. This means they are equipped to handle situations that cannot wait until your regular vet opens but are not life-threatening emergencies requiring immediate, intensive care.

Several key features appear to distinguish UrgentVet based on the customer feedback:

  • Fear-Free Certified: This is explicitly mentioned as a "big plus" by one reviewer. Fear-Free certification indicates that the staff has undergone training and the clinic environment is designed to minimize fear, anxiety, and stress in pets. This approach involves gentle handling techniques, the use of calming pheromones, and a focus on creating a positive experience for animals.
  • Kind and Compassionate Staff: Multiple reviewers highlight the kindness, compassion, and patience of the staff, emphasizing their gentle approach and willingness to take the time needed with both pets and their owners.
  • Appropriate Pricing: One reviewer noted that the pricing at UrgentVet falls between that of a regular vet and an emergency vet, deeming it "fairly priced." This suggests a more affordable option for urgent care needs compared to a full emergency facility.
  • Convenient After-Hours Availability: The core feature of UrgentVet is its availability outside of regular veterinary hours, providing a much-needed service for unexpected health issues that arise in the evenings or on weekends.
  • Welcoming and Nice Office: The positive comments about the office environment suggest a clean, comfortable, and well-maintained facility, further contributing to a less stressful experience for pets and owners.
  • Focus on Patient Comfort: The use of Feliway and allowing the cat to roam the room demonstrate a commitment to making pets feel as comfortable as possible during their visit.

Currently, the provided information does not include any specific promotional details for UrgentVet. It would be beneficial for local users to check their website or contact them directly to inquire about any ongoing promotions or special offers for new clients or specific services. After-hours urgent care facilities may not always have traditional promotions, but it's always worth investigating.

I cannot say enough good things about our experience with this office! They were kind, compassionate & so patient with us & our dog who is having a pretty delicate issue at the moment. I very much appreciate how gentle they were & the time they took to develop a care plan for him. I'm so happy we have an after-hours vet with more availability in Joliet now, but a huge bonus that it's a really nice office with great people & not a last resort kind of place that I would dread having to take my pet to in an emergency.

Today was the first time we visited UrgentVet. My mom's cat shown signs we needed to get him into a vet & quickly. From the moment we stepped in the door, we were welcomed & taken back into a examination room. Unfortunately, it wasn't the outcome we had hoped for but didn't want our baby to suffer any longer. Its not a easy decision to make, but the staff and Dr.Otto where so kind & caring with us, helping us through it. We were brought back into another room, which was a nice calming family room to spend as much time as we needed to get in last cuddles & our last Goodbyes. The office is a nice setting, you don't feel rushed or uncomfortable. It's nice we have somewhere local that has openings 7 days a week. Thank you for being there for us & Roscoe today! We will miss him forever!

Took my girl here Friday afternoon since her Vet was not able to see her sooner. They are efficient and super kind. You can tell they enjoy their job and really care for all the animals. My dog is a rescue so she has anxiety, especially in those settings. They were wonderful!
