Serving the local community, UrgentVet operates under the category of a Pet Hospital, specializing in providing urgent veterinary care services for your beloved animal companions. Understanding that pet health concerns can arise unexpectedly, UrgentVet offers a reliable and accessible option when your regular veterinarian's office might be closed or unavailable for immediate needs.
Based on feedback from pet owners who have experienced their services, UrgentVet stands out for its commitment to prompt attention and compassionate care. One customer recounted a situation requiring immediate veterinary attention and praised the "exceptional" staff and doctor for their outstanding care. This positive experience led them to become a loyal supporter, highlighting not only the quality of care but also the efficient appointment system that minimizes waiting times. This suggests that UrgentVet prioritizes a streamlined process to ensure pets receive timely medical attention without unnecessary delays, a crucial aspect when dealing with urgent health issues.
Another pet owner shared their experience of bringing in an 8-month-old kitten on a Sunday afternoon with a serious concern. They were immediately seen upon arrival and guided to a "very clean" examination room. This detail underscores UrgentVet's commitment to maintaining a hygienic and comfortable environment for both pets and their owners, which is essential for a positive and reassuring experience during a stressful time. The customer specifically commended Dr. J and Brittany for their fantastic care, emphasizing the thoroughness of the examination and their ability to clearly explain treatment options. The emphasis on cleanliness, efficient processes, thorough examinations, clear communication, and follow-up care suggests a patient-centric approach that aims to alleviate the stress associated with urgent pet health concerns.
As a Pet Hospital, UrgentVet likely offers a range of services to address immediate health issues in pets. While specific details of all services are best obtained by contacting them directly at (757) 500-9100 or +1 757-500-9100, based on the reviews and the nature of an "urgent care" facility, potential services may include:
- Immediate attention for illnesses and injuries: Addressing conditions that require prompt diagnosis and treatment but are not necessarily life-threatening emergencies that would require a full-service emergency veterinary hospital.
- Wound care and management: Treating lacerations, infections, and other types of wounds.
- Management of acute medical conditions: Providing care for sudden onset illnesses such as vomiting, diarrhea, or lethargy.
- Pain management: Addressing acute pain and discomfort in pets.
- Diagnostic services: Offering on-site testing such as blood work, urine analysis, and potentially imaging (like X-rays) to aid in rapid diagnosis.
- Treatment for minor emergencies: Handling situations that require immediate attention but are not critical surgical cases.
- Post-surgical care: As indicated in one of the reviews, they may provide care for pets recovering from surgical procedures performed elsewhere.
The "no appointment needed" aspect mentioned in one review, while seemingly contradictory to another review mentioning the benefit of appointments, might suggest a system where walk-ins are accepted for urgent situations, but appointments are encouraged or may be necessary for certain types of care or to ensure efficient patient flow. It is advisable to clarify their appointment policy when contacting them.
In terms of environment, the mention of a "very clean exam room" indicates that UrgentVet prioritizes hygiene, which is crucial in a veterinary setting to prevent infections and ensure the well-being of the animals. A clean and organized environment also contributes to a more reassuring experience for pet owners who are already likely concerned about their pet's health.
Based on the available information, key features of UrgentVet appear to include:
- Prompt and efficient care: The ability to be seen quickly, especially in urgent situations.
- Exceptional and caring staff: As highlighted in the positive reviews.
- Clean and comfortable environment: Providing a reassuring setting for pets and owners.
- Thorough examinations and clear explanations: Ensuring pet owners understand their pet's condition and treatment plan.
- Detailed aftercare instructions and follow-up: Demonstrating a commitment to the pet's ongoing recovery.
- Potentially cost-effective: One reviewer was "pleasantly surprised by the price," suggesting their services may be reasonably priced for the value provided.

May 04, 2025 · Nichole Woods-LeonI rushed my 8 month old kitten in on a Sunday afternoon after discovering he had chewed through a set of abdominal stitches. We were immediately seen upon entry and escorted to a very clean exam room. Dr. J and Brittany were fantastic with my boy!! They provided a thorough exam and were great at explaining his treatment options. We received a detailed summary of our visit accompanied by clear instructions for home, as well as a check in call the next day. Overall, I was highly satisfied with (and pleasantly surprised by the price of) our visit and would recommend this UrgentVet location to anyone in a pinch!! Thanks again!
Mar 11, 2025 · Taylor MooreI brought my Princess Penelope in because she had stopped eating and she looked yellow. Someone comes to the lobby right away and they bring you to a private exam room that are dog and cat specific. It’s very relaxing with the lighting and soft music to help keep your pet from being too stressed. Kami was the Vet Tech and she was so sweet and caring. When she saw how yellow my kitty was she brought her to the Vet immediately, but in a calm manner not in freak out kind of way. Dr Connor was very nice and explained they would have to do blood work. Kami went over all the costs with me. My poor baby’s liver was failing. Dr Connor suggested I bring her to an emergency vet that night for an ultrasound. I was worried about the cost so she gave me the number of 2 places and stressed she needed to go as soon as I could but due to her condition it could be very expensive. My other choice was to euthanize her. I went back to the UrgentVet the next day to put her down. The ultrasound alone was going to be $750 to $1000 and treatment could be 100s to 1000s of dollars. I just couldn’t afford it. Everyone was so nice and I got a comfortable room alone to spend time with Princess Penelope. They explained the process, the cost and gave me plenty of time to be sure that is what I was going to do. I verified that her condition was fatal and that treatment was not a guarantee. Once I felt comfortable there was a little door bell you could push to get the tech back in there. It was very peaceful and everyone was so comforting. To my surprise, Kami had been filling in for someone that day and she saw our name on the board and came in after her shift to see us . That was the kindest gesture and meant so much. She has such a big heart to be there when she was off because she remembered us from the night before. I know this was long but they really do deserve 10+ stars.
Mar 03, 2025 · Jennie JohnsonThis is an affordable alternative to taking a pet to the emergency room. My dog was not feeling well and I was able to secure an appointment with UrgentVet fast and securely. Everything is done online, and once in office we were in a room within minutes. They provide nourishments for the humans to include blankets, snacks and coffee. They provide estimates prior to any treatment and will even text you from the treatment area to let you know the status of pending labs or procedures. Nikita, LVT and Dr.Dove ARE FANTASTIC! Super knowledgable and thorough.
Apr 20, 2025 · Allegrah DayOur almost 3 year old lab was battling a tumor whom we had been to several specialists trying to get surgery for it. Our sweet Redd took a turn for the worst. I called urgent vet hysterically crying around 10pm. They said to bring him in and to be safe getting there.. when we got there we were welcomed and we headed to a family room filled with all kinds of snacks for a pups last good bye.. they have a comfortable couch and a beautiful dog bed… the staff was amazing and so sympathetic. They even got some kisses from him.. They allowed us all the time we needed to be with him.. The vet was amazing also.. she was also a veteran which is near and dear to us as we are too. It helped that she understood the magnitude of our loss as our redd was an emotional support dog. Urgent vet was available when no one else was and they went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of and that our boy was put to rest in the most beautiful way surrounded by love. ❤️
