We have come here twice. Once in November when we had to put our sweet Pixie to sleep and they were so kind and understanding. We also just recently had to go for our dog and they were very accommodating and sweet. We were seen immediately. The manager was so kind to our dog and the vet came in quickly. Of course, emergency vets are more expensive but your pets deserve the best.

Welcome to UrgentVet

UrgentVet, located at 4084 Finn Way #145, Lexington, KY 40517, USA, offers a crucial service within the "Pet Hospital" category, providing dedicated urgent veterinary care for pets when their primary veterinarian's office is closed. This establishment is designed to fill the gap between routine veterinary visits and critical, life-threatening emergencies that require a 24/7 emergency hospital. UrgentVet aims to deliver timely, compassionate, and affordable care for mild illnesses and minor injuries during evenings, weekends, and holidays. You can reach them at (859) 800-0322 or +1 859-800-0322.

The environment at UrgentVet in Lexington is thoughtfully designed to minimize stress for both pets and their owners. The clinic is equipped with a variety of features aimed at creating a calm and comfortable experience, adhering to "Fear Free" principles. This includes species- and size-specific exam rooms, recognizing that dogs and cats, and large and small breeds, have different comfort needs. The facility incorporates non-slip flooring to prevent anxiety from slipping, dimmable lighting, and soothing colors to create a visually calming atmosphere. To further reduce stress, soft music and calming pheromones are utilized throughout the clinic. Even the examination tables are designed to be quiet lift tables. A notable feature is the use of revolutionary tempered glass pet enclosures from Casco, which are reported to be 70% quieter than traditional metal cages, making them ideal for anxious pets. For pet parents, the waiting area is described as very nice, offering complimentary drinks, snacks, and phone charging, creating a more pleasant experience during what can often be a stressful time. There is also a private comfort room for sensitive situations, such as end-of-life care, highlighting the clinic's commitment to compassion.

UrgentVet provides a comprehensive range of services for pets suffering from mild illnesses and minor injuries. Their expert veterinary staff is available 365 days a year to address a wide variety of conditions. Common ailments treated include coughing, sneezing, diarrhea, dehydration, excessive drinking, eye discharge and squinting, fever, not eating or not drinking, poison/toxin ingestion, skin allergies (itching, rashes, hot spots), upper respiratory infections, and urinary tract problems (frequency, straining, or blood). They also manage minor injuries such as abscesses, back pain, cuts and scrapes, fracture assessment, mild lameness, limping, minor wounds and lacerations, pain management, post-op incision care, and toenail injuries. For pets that are generally "just not feeling well," UrgentVet is equipped to provide a precise diagnosis and appropriate treatment, including for allergies and anal gland issues. The clinic is well-equipped with state-of-the-art diagnostic tools, including digital X-rays, ultrasound, and a comprehensive in-house laboratory, enabling prompt and accurate diagnoses. While UrgentVet specializes in urgent care, it is important to note that they do not provide overnight hospitalization or treat severe life-threatening emergencies such as severe hit-by-car incidents, amputations, pneumonia, or kidney failure; these cases are typically referred to a 24/7 emergency vet hospital. UrgentVet works collaboratively with primary care veterinarians, sending detailed letters and records for follow-up care to ensure seamless and integrated treatment for pets.

One of the key features of UrgentVet is its commitment to accessibility and convenience. They offer same-day visits, with the option to save your spot online or simply walk in. Upon arrival, patients are typically escorted to a private exam room promptly, reducing waiting times. This emphasis on efficiency and immediate attention is highly valued by customers, as evidenced by reviews. For example, one customer noted, "We were seen immediately. The manager was so kind to our dog and the vet came in quickly." Another highlighted, "I had to bring my dog in within the last hour of closing and I never felt it was rushed." This commitment to prompt and unhurried care, even during late hours, sets UrgentVet apart.

From a promotional standpoint, UrgentVet positions itself as an affordable alternative to traditional emergency veterinary hospitals, often claiming to be up to 40% less expensive. This provides pet owners with a cost-effective solution for urgent care needs that do not require full emergency room services. The recurring theme in customer feedback emphasizes the kindness, understanding, and accommodating nature of the staff, even during emotionally challenging times, such as end-of-life care. One review stated, "Once in November when we had to put our sweet Pixie to sleep and they were so kind and understanding." This highlights the compassionate approach that is a cornerstone of their service. The presence of Dr. Soltis and her staff has been praised for their amazing, kind, and caring demeanor, demonstrating a high level of professionalism alongside empathy. The positive outcomes, such as a dog recovering quickly after a steroid injection for reverse sneezing, further solidify UrgentVet's reputation for effective treatment. The clinic also provides good recommendations for ongoing pet health, such as advice for allergies and arthritis, showcasing a holistic approach to pet well-being beyond immediate urgent needs. The consistent high review ratings in the cities it serves underscore UrgentVet's commitment to excellence in pet care. Approximately 90% of pets seen at UrgentVet are treated on-site and then referred back to their primary vet, emphasizing their role as a bridge in the continuum of veterinary care rather than a replacement for routine check-ups.

We had a great experience on a Saturday night with Urgent Vet in Lexington. The office is very nice with complementary drinks, snacks, and phone charging. Dr. Soltis and staff was amazing. Kind and caring. I had to bring my dog in within the last hour of closing and I never felt it was rushed. Gregory was having some terrible reverse sneezing and seemed miserable. He got a steroid injection and is doing so good now! Dr. Soltis gave me some good recommendations for his allergies and his arthritis. Highly recommend!

My dog Frankie passed last night after 8p. I called UrgentVet about cremation and they were very accommodating. When I arrived, they were very thoughtful with true empathy. I wasn't treated like a customer, I was treated like someone that just lost an inseparable friend of 13 years. A vet that came to the horse farm where I worked found Frankie wandering the streets of Lexington at 4 months old. I adopted her and the rest is history.

The staff here were absolutely wonderful. I had to put our family dog to sleep and they assisted me every step of the way. He was aggressive, but very good with family, and the vet staff never made me feel bad for his complexities. There was a staff member that handled him amazingly, aggression and all, and another that was so empathetic to our situation. They truly went above and beyond, helped with getting paw prints and clay impressions too. The location itself was very welcoming, snacks and refreshments available upon entry. The euthanasia room was very peaceful, gentle music was playing, treats for the animals available, tissues and care all around. I don’t think I would have done it any other way. The actual euthanasia was very easy and had very little discomfort too. Thank you to the UrgentVet Staff that helped me today. You all made it so much easier.

Brought in my puppy for a particularly bad eye infection after regular vet hours. The clinic was clean, quiet and well laid out. I knew they were very busy- I saw multiple pets ever before me- but in spite of that we were in and out in under an hour even as a walk-in. Cost-wise they were only marginally more expensive than my regular vet for the same workup and didn't require me to take several hours off work to try to figure out puppy transport. All in all a very positive experience and certainly somewhere I'll recommend for after hours *not quite a full emergency* needs. I also didn't realize you could reserve a time online until I was already there which could be very handy given it's about an hour from my home.
