So glad to have been able to find Upper Charles! This is a wonderful place. We have transferred over to Upper Charles since our vets office at Foxboro Animal Hospital was sold. We know Dr. Reed and Dr. Crozier from Foxboro. What an accommodating practice, the doctors and all the staff are wonderful and we are able to get our dog Vito in fairly quick. Can't say enough about the care and treatment of Vito, he actually loves it! Thank you :)

Environment and Client Experience

The environment at Upper Charles Animal Hospital is consistently described as "wonderful" and "fabulous." The overarching theme from client testimonials is the genuine kindness and compassion exhibited by every member of the team. From the doctors to all the staff, clients feel a strong sense of warmth and welcoming, which helps alleviate the stress often associated with veterinary visits, both for the pets and their owners. The friendly demeanor creates a comforting atmosphere where pets, like one dog named Vito, "actually loves it!" – a truly remarkable endorsement for a veterinary clinic.

Beyond the friendly staff, a significant aspect of their client experience is their remarkable accommodation and responsiveness. The ability to "get our dog Vito in fairly quick" for appointments is a considerable advantage, especially for pet owners with busy schedules or when dealing with urgent concerns. This flexibility is exemplified by a critical incident where a dog sustained a deep bite at a dog park. Despite not having open appointments, the hospital immediately took the dog in and performed stitches during their lunch break. This extraordinary level of responsiveness demonstrates their profound commitment to animal welfare and client needs, going above and beyond typical expectations.

Another striking example of their dedication is seen in the instance where a doctor, despite the clinic being closed for New Year's Eve, answered the phone because she recognized the client's number and knew they had just been there. This proactive and personalized care, where staff genuinely "knew we had just been there," speaks volumes about their attentiveness and the deep care they foster for their patients and their owners. This level of personalized service creates a strong bond and ensures that clients feel heard, understood, and prioritized.

  • General Wellness & Preventative Care: This would include routine examinations, vaccinations, parasite control, nutritional counseling, and age-appropriate screenings to maintain optimal pet health. The focus on proactive care is implied by the positive long-term relationships with clients.
  • Diagnostic Services: While not specifically mentioned, a hospital of this caliber would be equipped for various diagnostics, potentially including in-house laboratory testing (blood work, urinalysis), digital radiography (X-rays), and ultrasound to accurately diagnose conditions.
  • Surgical Procedures: The account of stitching up a deep bite wound during lunch hours indicates their capability to perform various surgical interventions, ranging from routine procedures like spays and neuters to emergency wound repair.
  • Urgent and Emergency Care: The most notable feature highlighted is their exceptional ability to handle urgent situations. The immediate response to the dog bite and the doctor's dedication during closure hours illustrate a commitment to providing timely and critical care, even outside of regular appointment slots. This responsiveness for emergencies is a huge comfort for pet owners.
  • Compassionate Treatment & Patient Comfort: The consistent message that they "REALLY care about your pets" and that even the dog "loves it" points to a strong emphasis on minimizing stress and maximizing comfort for their animal patients. Their expertise, combined with their caring demeanor, forms the backbone of the hospital's excellent reputation.

They are absolutely fabulous!!! My dog got bit at the dog park and it was a deep bite. I called them immediately and even though they did not have any open appointments, they took him and stitched him up during lunch. Then, today....we had a visit to take out his stitches. After we left, he got sick 4 times. I called them at 12:30 (not knowing they closed at 12:00 for NYE), and the Dr was there doing inventory and she picked up the phone because she knew we had just been there. I can't say enough about them! Everyone is super nice and Dr. Crosier is the BEST!! They REALLY care about you pets. I mean REALLY care. They are awesome. Will stay with them for forever!!

We adopted our senior rescue pit bull over 9 months ago. We began to take her to Dr. Crozier soon after, and we thought we had a good match with this office since we really liked the staff. But over the next 8 months, every time we went in, we presented over and over that she was peeing and drinking constantly, lethargic and as well, her spine was curved, and belly had an odd shape. Following a slew of costly blood tests and urine tests, we were only told that things looked pretty good. The doctor never once said that these symptoms could be connected with several different disease scenarios and that they should be ruled out – primarily kidney or Cushing’s disease. For 8 months she dragged her feet and never advised us on the meaning of the symptoms, let alone come up with a treatment plan. Finally, after 8 months she diagnosed a thyroid condition, which turned out to be a misdiagnosis. Never once did she on her own bring up kidney disease or Cushing’s disease. Ironically, at the end of the 8 months, the vet tech at Dr. Crozier’s office commented that our dog looked like she had Cushing’s, which even the vet had never even mentioned. Finally, after a hospital episode and transfer to another vet, within days we were given a true diagnosis and could finally begin a treatment plan to help her. It had been our mission to adopt and help a senior Pitbull which no one else wanted (she had been in the shelter 9 months). We feel that she has been let down since this vet did not seem to be able to competently handle the case over 8 long months – those were months we could have been treating the condition. As the clients, we rely on the vet to present information on clear readings of the blood work, and to present a plan to eliminate possible diseases, and then diagnose and treat the correct one. We never got anywhere close to such a presentation. Now, the verdict is out how much time we have lost on her life since we lost those 8 months in treating her. The feeling we were left with after this experience at this office was heartbreak, concern for her future, and as well a concern for the large amount of money we spent with no diagnosis after 8 months. The whole experience was so disappointing. Additional note: When we learned of the correct diagnosis after the hospital episode and alerted the office in an email, Dr. Crozier did call us; instead of owning her mistake, she apologized for a “miscommunication” and in a later voicemail emphasized again, a “miscommunication” and almost insinuated it was our fault as she stated, “we did not call back one time.” In fact we did, talked to her office to authorize a more detailed urine analysis and even were in the office to have the test conducted. Update: Since she has started treatment for Cushing’s disease with her new vet, her body shape is now normal, she drinks normally and has great energy. As a post script, we want to emphasize that during 8 months - wherein we continually complained about the symptoms Millie suffered with - the doctor never once advised us to pursue testing for any specific condition such as Cushing's disease.

Fabulous veterinary practice! They are super helpful whenever I have called about refilling a script to asking advice on an animal’s behavior. They get my pets appointments in a timely manner and make sure they have everything they need to keep them healthy.

Dr Read and her team go above and beyond for their furry patients and their families. We recently had to say a very tough good bye to our dog. The staff spent time talking with our family, gave us a quiet and comfortable space to say goodbye and stayed with us the whole time to guide us through the process. Our new puppy actually gets excited for vet visits because of all the love and attention they give to each of their patients. We are so grateful to have found this practice and highly recommend them to anyone who is looking for a personalized experience for their pet.
