Several years ago I had to rush my dachshunds to Uno Animal Hospital from Ridgecrest, CA because our local vets were too busy to see him right away. I knew he wasn’t going to make it until the 2:30 pm appt I had for him in RC. I called Uno Animal Hospital and they said bring him in right now! So I drove him down to Lancaster and the staff and Dr. K were awesome! They took him right in for x-rays and exam. Turns out he had a bowel blockage from eating a cooked ham bone he snuck out of the trash. They started him on a treatment plan right away, hoping to avoid surgery. They kept him for three days and didn’t have to do surgery! I don’t remember the cost now but I remember being surprised it was under $1000.00! He recovered just fine and lived to be 14 years old. Dr. K and staff are the greatest, they saved my Oscar. Dr. Uno also saved my beagle puppy when I was about 10 years old. He had an allergic reaction to the food we were feeding him. He almost died but Dr. Uno knew what to do and they were wonderful!

Uno Animal Hospital exemplifies this, consistently receiving praise for their ability to provide critical, timely, and effective care, as highlighted by numerous testimonials from grateful pet owners.
While specific details about the interior design or waiting room aesthetics of Uno Animal Hospital are not extensively detailed in the provided information, the overwhelming positive feedback from customers strongly suggests a highly functional and caring environment. The most striking aspect of the clinic's operational environment, as gleaned from reviews, is its responsiveness and willingness to accommodate urgent cases. The ability to "bring him in right now!" for an emergency, even when other local vets were unavailable, speaks volumes about their operational efficiency and commitment to animal welfare. This indicates a well-organized staff capable of prioritizing and swiftly integrating emergency arrivals into their workflow. The fact that pets recovered well and received effective treatment suggests a clean, medically appropriate, and stress-minimized environment where animals can be stabilized, diagnosed, and treated effectively. The positive outcomes and the direct statements about "the staff and Dr. K were awesome!" suggest a warm, professional, and reassuring atmosphere that helps both pets and owners feel comfortable and confident in the care being provided.
As a leading 'Pet Hospital', Uno Animal Hospital, under the expertise of Dr. Rick Kohltfarber, provides a comprehensive array of veterinary services crucial for maintaining the health and well-being of pets. The customer testimonials specifically highlight their proficiency in emergency and complex medical cases, but a 'Pet Hospital' of this caliber would generally offer:
Emergency and Urgent Care: This is a prominent strength of Uno Animal Hospital, as evidenced by the accounts of saving pets in critical conditions. Their ability to respond immediately to emergencies, perform rapid diagnostics like X-rays, and initiate treatment plans swiftly is a defining feature. They are equipped to handle acute illnesses, injuries, and sudden life-threatening conditions.
Diagnostic Services: Rapid and accurate diagnostics are essential. The clinic effectively utilizes tools like X-rays for internal imaging (as demonstrated by the bowel blockage case). A comprehensive 'Pet Hospital' would also typically offer in-house laboratory services for blood tests, urinalysis, and fecal exams to quickly diagnose various conditions.
Medical Treatment: Beyond diagnostics, the hospital implements effective medical treatment plans. The case of the dachshund with a bowel blockage, successfully treated without surgery, showcases their capability to manage complex medical conditions conservatively when possible. Similarly, effectively treating a severe allergic reaction in a puppy demonstrates their broad medical expertise.
Surgical Capabilities: While the provided review specifically mentions avoiding surgery, a 'Pet Hospital' like Uno Animal Hospital would undoubtedly be equipped to perform a range of surgical procedures, from routine spaying and neutering to more complex soft tissue surgeries, should they be necessary for a pet's recovery.
Preventative Care: Although not explicitly detailed in the emergency-focused reviews, a full-service pet hospital would offer standard preventative care including vaccinations, parasite control, and routine wellness examinations to maintain long-term pet health and prevent emergencies.
General Health Maintenance: This includes dental care, nutritional counseling, and management of chronic conditions, all of which are standard offerings at a comprehensive veterinary facility.
Several key features distinguish Uno Animal Hospital and contribute to its strong reputation:
Exceptional Emergency Responsiveness: The clinic's willingness to accept emergency cases without prior appointment and provide immediate attention is a critical feature, particularly in a region where other vets might be too busy. This quick action can be literally life-saving.
Highly Competent and Experienced Veterinarian (Dr. Kohltfarber): Dr. K (Dr. Kohltfarber) is consistently praised for his expertise and ability to accurately diagnose and effectively treat severe conditions. His knowledge "knew what to do" in critical situations, leading to successful outcomes for pets that "almost died."
Skilled and Compassionate Staff: The support staff are repeatedly described as "awesome" and "wonderful." Their professionalism, empathy, and ability to assist efficiently during stressful emergency situations are clearly highly valued by clients.
Effective Problem-Solving and Treatment: The clinic demonstrates a strong ability to develop and execute effective treatment plans, even for challenging cases. The successful non-surgical resolution of a bowel blockage and the immediate treatment of a severe allergic reaction are strong indicators of their medical proficiency.
Value and Cost-Effectiveness: The client's surprise at the cost being "under $1000.00" for emergency care, hospitalization for three days, and complex treatment for a bowel blockage, highlights that the clinic offers high-quality care at what appears to be a reasonable and accessible price point for such intensive services. This is a significant advantage for pet owners concerned about veterinary expenses.
Positive Outcomes and Long-Term Health: The ultimate success of the hospital is measured by the health and longevity of its patients. The fact that Oscar recovered and lived to be 14 years old, and the beagle puppy was saved, speaks volumes about the lasting positive impact of their interventions.
Based on the provided customer reviews and the nature of a 'Pet Hospital', specific promotional offers for Uno Animal Hospital: Kohltfarber Rick DVM are not explicitly detailed. However, their reputation for effective, responsive, and seemingly cost-effective care serves as a powerful form of promotion in itself. Word-of-mouth recommendations, especially for critical emergency services, are invaluable in the veterinary field. While the reviews highlight that the cost was surprisingly low for an emergency, prospective clients seeking information on pricing for routine services, new patient specials, or any available wellness plans should directly contact the hospital. Given their commitment to animal welfare and client satisfaction, it is advisable to call them at (661) 942-1489 or +1 661-942-1489 to discuss specific service costs and any potential introductory offers for new patients. Their approach appears to be focused on delivering high-quality, impactful care rather than overt marketing.
