Union St Vet is absolutely amazing! I would recommend Dr. Hartman and his team to anyone else in the area. My dog had to have surgery and everyone was so sweet, compassionate, caring and kind. They all went above and beyond my expectations. This was the very first time I’ve ever had to bring my dog or any animal of mine to the vet and they made the experience and every interaction absolutely wonderful. I commend you all for your amazing customer service, and for your dedication to kindness and animals Thank you all! Waldo’s mom

Welcome to Union St Veterinary Hospital

Welcome to the local introduction of Union St Veterinary Hospital, situated at 1718 Union St, Schenectady, NY 12309, USA. As a 'Pet Hospital', Union St Veterinary Hospital aims to provide veterinary care for the pets in its community. Based on the feedback available from online reviews, experiences appear to vary among pet owners. We will present an objective overview of the hospital, touching upon aspects of its environment, services, and features as perceived by these reviewers.

It's important for local users to have a balanced perspective when considering a veterinary service. The following introduction is based solely on the provided customer reviews, which offer differing viewpoints on Union St Veterinary Hospital.

Environment:

One reviewer described the office as "very outdated and didn’t seem sanitary." This is a critical piece of feedback regarding the physical environment, suggesting that some clients may find the facilities less than satisfactory in terms of modernity and cleanliness. Conversely, the other review does not comment on the physical premises, focusing instead on the staff's demeanor and care. Therefore, based on the available information, perceptions of the hospital's environment appear to be mixed, with at least one customer raising concerns about its condition.

Services:

Based on the reviews, Union St Veterinary Hospital offers surgical procedures, specifically mentioning a dog undergoing surgery and another being spayed. The services likely extend to general veterinary care, although the specifics are not detailed. One positive review commends the team for their care during a dog's surgery, highlighting their sweetness, compassion, and kindness. This suggests that when providing surgical services, some pet owners have experienced positive and caring interactions. However, the negative review recounts an experience where a pre-spay exam was allegedly charged for but not performed, and the post-operative care was deemed inadequate, leading to severe complications that required intervention from the pet's regular vet. This indicates a potential inconsistency in the quality and thoroughness of the services provided, at least in the experience of one customer.

Features:

The features of Union St Veterinary Hospital, as perceived by the reviewers, present a dichotomy:

  • Positive Aspects: One reviewer praised Dr. Hartman and his team for being "absolutely amazing," highlighting their sweetness, compassion, caring nature, and kindness. They also commended the "amazing customer service" and the team's dedication to kindness and animals, especially noting their positive handling of a first-time vet visit for their dog.
  • Negative Aspects: Another reviewer reported negative vibes upon entering, describing most of the staff (excluding the receptionist) as "miserable" and "not approachable," which they felt was detrimental to the practice's image. This reviewer also claimed that no pre-spay exam was done despite being charged for one, that they had to place their dog in a kennel themselves, that the discharge paperwork was unprofessional due to typos and grammar errors, and that they were shorted on pain medication. Furthermore, they experienced severe post-operative complications with their dog that they believe should have been addressed by Union St Veterinary Hospital.

The stark contrast between these two experiences suggests that the quality of care and the overall experience at Union St Veterinary Hospital can vary significantly.

Promotional Information:

There is no explicit promotional information, such as discounts or special offers, in the provided data. However, the positive testimonial from "Waldo's mom" serves as a form of positive endorsement, recommending Dr. Hartman and his team. Conversely, the strongly negative review serves as a cautionary account for potential clients.

For local users considering Union St Veterinary Hospital, it would be prudent to weigh both the positive and negative feedback. To make your own informed decision, you may wish to contact the hospital directly to inquire about their services, environment, and protocols.

Given the mixed reviews, local pet owners might want to consider reaching out to the hospital to ask specific questions relevant to their pet's needs and perhaps seek additional opinions or information before making a decision. The positive review highlights a caring and supportive team, while the negative review raises serious concerns about the standard of care and professionalism.

In summary, Union St Veterinary Hospital in Schenectady, NY, as a 'Pet Hospital', has received contrasting feedback from its clients. One reviewer experienced and praised the sweetness, compassion, and professionalism of Dr. Hartman and his team, particularly during a surgical procedure. However, another reviewer reported significant issues, including concerns about the cleanliness of the facility, unprofessionalism, alleged billing discrepancies, and inadequate post-operative care leading to complications. Potential local users should consider these differing experiences when evaluating Union St Veterinary Hospital for their pet care needs and may wish to seek further information or testimonials.

I took my dog here through friends of animals for her spay because I had heard good things. My dog loves everyone and is typically happy as can be at the vet. From the moment I walked in I got bad vibes. With the exception of the receptionist who checked us in and roomed us the workers seemed miserable. You should have people working the front desk that are approachable as these people are the face of your practice. The office was very outdated and didn’t seem sanitary. I at first thought I felt this way because this wasn’t our normal vet. The doctor came in and that’s when it got even more bizarre. My dog almost refused to allow the doctor to touch her. This doctor should forfeit his medical license. He should not be practicing medicine. No exam was done prior to her spay yet I was charged for one! I’ve never gone to a vet where I am to place my dog in a kennel myself. The paperwork I received upon discharge was full of typos and grammar errors….not professional at all. I was also charged for 5 days of a pain medication and received 3 tablets. So I guess they can’t count either. Fast forward 4 days. My dog had to be rushed to her regular vet with severe complications that should have been addressed either before the spay in an exam or afterward before being discharged. After all the money I’ve spent and agony of seeing my dog in pain I would have been better off taking her to her normal vet who actually is professional has much more compassion than Dr Hartman could ever have. I will be sure to tell everyone I know to steer clear of this place. Time to turn in your medical license.

Very friendly people. They make sure your pet does not hurt you. If they get hurt during an examination they say don't worry. It happens now and again. I train dogs and say the same. I put myself in harms way to help the dog.
