My Belgian Malinois, Apollo, will be 6 years old this May. He has had lower back issues since he was a puppy, however this past October 2024 his vet confirmed he had a compacted disc in his lower back. The muscles in his rear legs were weakening and he was losing weight. I researched multiple canine rehabilitation facilities and contacted Maja at Tsavos Canine Rehabilitation. The facility is easy to get to, has an open layout with private rooms, and is very clean. The staff is welcoming and you can tell they genuinely care about helping you and your fur babies. Within minutes of the initial consultation, Maja knew exactly what to do to help Apollo. It hasn't even been a full 4 months since Apollo began weekly sessions for ESWT (Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy), Laser, and Hydrotherapy and he has significantly less pain on a daily basis. Apollo had a follow up appointment with his vet this past Monday and they were surprised to see he has gained 4LBS of muscle and his rear legs have gained definition! Needless to say, we HIGHLY recommend Tsavos Canine and will not be discontinuing our sessions anytime soon.

The cornerstone of Tsavo's Canine Rehabilitation lies in its comprehensive suite of services. They specialize in a variety of advanced therapeutic modalities, including:
Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy (ESWT): This non-invasive treatment uses acoustic waves to stimulate healing in tissues, reduce pain, and improve mobility. It is particularly beneficial for conditions like tendonitis, osteoarthritis, and other musculoskeletal issues.
Laser Therapy: Utilizing specific wavelengths of light, laser therapy helps to reduce inflammation, alleviate pain, and accelerate tissue repair at a cellular level. It can be effective for a wide range of conditions, from wound healing to arthritis management.
Hydrotherapy: This therapy involves the use of water to facilitate movement, reduce weight-bearing stress on joints, and improve cardiovascular health. Underwater treadmills and therapeutic pools are often used to provide a controlled and low-impact exercise environment. Hydrotherapy is excellent for post-surgical recovery, arthritis management, and improving muscle strength.
Beyond these core therapies, the experienced and compassionate staff at Tsavo's Canine Rehabilitation provides individualized treatment plans tailored to each pet's specific needs and condition. This personalized approach ensures that every animal receives the most effective care possible. Feb 12, 2025 · Aletha NelsonThe best. Period. My lab LOSES it when I say “Wanna go see Maya?” Absolutely the best place for canine therapy, possibly on the west coast. My lab’s fav place on the planet and he feels so much better because of it. Their entire staff is compassionate, loving, and supportive. Especially Dave’s water coach! Just can’t say enough about this place. Worth the drive.
Jun 07, 2024 · Stephanie CoolidgeI can't say enough great things about this place. Maja and everyone working here truly cares about their dog patients, they are kind, patient, and dedicated to each and every one of the dogs. Maja has the warmest heart, she's very knowledgeable and honest when it comes to treatments and options. My older dog has been in therapy for a few months now to help her injured knees and arthritis, the water treadmill and rehab has helped her pain and mobility so much. She had started to lose muscle mass due to her age, now she's building it up and getting a little stronger, so she can live up her golden years. Their facilities are always clean and looking nice. They do so much for special needs and rescue dogs, truly amazing work!
Feb 23, 2021 · Xiani WilliamsCan't say enough good stuff about Tsavos. Incredible facility in Escondido. Erica (our vet with Tsavos) is amazing. Amy at the pool and water treadmill is terrific as well. They really care about getting our little (not so little) dude (English Bulldog) walking again after his FCE diagnosis left him almost completely paralyzed on the right side. It's been about two months and he's walking again! Feels like a miracle to us. More work to go but excited to do it with this crew at Tsavos.
May 27, 2021 · Corey BaneBest decision ever. They came highly recommended by a neighbor and our specialty vet. So pleased with the results for our family dog.
