This was an awesome place. I had to have a newly acquired rehomed to me. Bunny neutered. They were able to schedule that within 2 weeks. They were the only veterinarian around that would work on a small animal. Those other vets only do dogs or cats okay they were super nice and I was late. I appreciate that.

This clinic is known for its commitment to providing thorough, compassionate, and accessible veterinary care for a diverse range of animals. They can be reached by phone at (615) 374-0330 or via mobile at +1 615-374-0330. Their typical operating hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, making them a reliable option for routine and non-emergency care during weekdays.

A notable aspect of Trousdale County Veterinary Services is its reported ability to work with a wider variety of animals beyond just dogs and cats, a feature that distinguishes them from many other local practices. This commitment to diverse species care, including small animals like bunnies, as highlighted by a customer review, makes them a valuable resource in the region.

Environment and Atmosphere

Trousdale County Veterinary Services strives to create a welcoming and comfortable environment for both pets and their owners. As a community-focused veterinary clinic, they aim to reduce stress for animals during visits, which is crucial for successful examinations and treatments. The facility is designed to be functional and clean, providing a safe space for medical procedures and consultations. Given its location in Hartsville, a more rural setting, the clinic likely has appropriate facilities to handle not only small companion animals but also potentially larger animals, either through in-clinic setups or by offering farm calls. The accessibility and friendly demeanor of the staff, as noted in reviews, contribute significantly to a positive experience for clients.

Comprehensive Veterinary Services

Trousdale County Veterinary Services offers a broad spectrum of veterinary services, catering to the varied needs of pet owners and livestock handlers in the area. Their commitment to comprehensive care means they provide both preventive medicine and treatment for illnesses and injuries. Based on typical offerings of similar full-service general practices, and information from online sources, their services likely include:

  • Wellness and Preventive Care: This includes routine physical examinations, age-appropriate vaccinations (for common canine and feline diseases, as well as species-specific vaccines for other animals), and parasite control programs (heartworm prevention, flea/tick control, and deworming). Regular check-ups are essential for early detection and prevention of health issues.
  • Small Animal Medicine and Surgery: This forms a core part of their services, covering dogs, cats, and as confirmed by a customer review, small mammals like rabbits. Services include:
    • Spay and Neuter: Essential surgical procedures for population control and numerous health benefits. The customer review specifically praises their ability to neuter a bunny, indicating expertise in this area.
    • Diagnostic Services: In-house laboratory testing (blood work, urinalysis, fecal analysis), and possibly imaging services like digital X-rays to aid in diagnosing various conditions.
    • General Surgery: Beyond spaying and neutering, this would encompass a range of soft tissue surgeries such as mass removals, wound repair, and other common surgical procedures.
    • Dental Care: Professional dental cleanings, extractions, and guidance on at-home oral hygiene to maintain good dental health.
    • Nutritional Counseling: Advice on appropriate diets for different life stages, weight management, and specific dietary needs for various medical conditions.
  • Large Animal Services (Farm Calls): While not explicitly detailed, the mention of "County Veterinary Services" often implies a capacity for large animal care, especially in a rural Tennessee county like Trousdale. Information about related clinics (like the Gordonsville Veterinary Clinic, which is a satellite of Trousdale County Veterinary Clinic and handles farm calls) suggests that they would provide care for livestock such as cattle, horses, sheep, and goats. This would include:
    • Herd Health Management: Vaccinations, deworming, and preventative health programs for farm animals.
    • Reproductive Services: Breeding soundness exams, pregnancy diagnosis, and assistance with birthing (calving, foaling, etc.).
    • Minor Surgical Procedures (on-site or in-clinic): Castrations, dehorning, wound repair, and other routine farm animal surgeries.
    • Medical Treatment: Diagnosis and treatment of illnesses affecting livestock.
    • Emergency Farm Calls: Providing urgent care for large animals on location.
  • Exotic and Pocket Pet Care: The specific mention of a bunny neuter in a customer review is a strong indicator that Trousdale County Veterinary Services is one of the few clinics in the area equipped and willing to handle veterinary care for smaller, less common companion animals beyond dogs and cats. This would include species like rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, and potentially birds or reptiles, depending on the veterinarians' specific expertise and training.
  • Microchipping: A crucial service for permanent identification and improved chances of reuniting lost pets with their owners.
Features and Unique Offerings

Trousdale County Veterinary Services stands out for several key features:

  • Broad Species Coverage: As highlighted by the customer review, their willingness and ability to work on "small animals" (beyond just dogs or cats), such as rabbits, is a significant advantage in areas where specialized exotic or small mammal vets are scarce. This suggests a broader scope of practice and expertise among their veterinarians.
  • Thorough Examinations: The customer review states, "Very thorough with their examinations," indicating a commitment to detailed assessments of animal health. This thoroughness is crucial for accurate diagnoses and effective treatment plans.
  • Friendly and Accommodating Staff: Clients consistently praise the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. The review mentions, "They were super nice and I was late. I appreciate that," showcasing their understanding and client-centered approach, which is vital for building trust and a positive vet-client relationship.
  • Great Rates/Affordability: The phrase "Great rates" in a review suggests that the clinic offers competitive and reasonable pricing for their services, making quality veterinary care accessible to a broader segment of the community.
  • Community Integration: As a local veterinary service in Trousdale County, they are deeply embedded in the community, often serving as a primary point of contact for both pet owners and agricultural producers. Their reported connection to the Gordonsville Veterinary Clinic as a satellite location further indicates a robust regional presence.
  • Experienced Team: While specific veterinarian names are not provided in the prompt, the long-standing nature of the "Trousdale County Veterinary Clinic" (with its satellite opening in 2007) implies a team of experienced professionals who are familiar with the common health challenges and needs of animals in the area.
Promotional Information and Payment Options

While specific promotional offers are not detailed, like most reputable veterinary clinics, Trousdale County Veterinary Services likely supports and facilitates financial options for clients:

  • Wellness Plans: Many clinics offer wellness plans that bundle routine preventive care services into manageable monthly payments, helping pet owners budget for their animal's ongoing health needs.
  • Pet Insurance: They would typically accept and assist with claims for pet insurance, which helps mitigate the costs of unexpected accidents and illnesses. It is always recommended for pet owners to enroll their animals in pet insurance while they are young and healthy to avoid pre-existing condition exclusions.
  • Treatment Financing: Services like CareCredit or Scratchpay are commonly accepted, allowing clients to finance larger, unexpected veterinary bills with deferred interest or installment plans.
  • Competitive Pricing: As indicated by the "Great rates" review, their pricing structure is likely designed to be fair and affordable for the local community, emphasizing value for comprehensive care.

In conclusion, Trousdale County Veterinary Services in Hartsville, TN, stands out as a compassionate, comprehensive, and accommodating veterinary practice. Their ability to cater to a wide array of animals, from common pets like dogs and cats to small mammals like rabbits and potentially large livestock, combined with their thorough examinations, friendly staff, and reasonable rates, makes them a highly valued and reliable resource for animal owners in Trousdale County and beyond. They offer essential preventive care, diagnostics, and surgical services, demonstrating a strong commitment to the health and well-being of all creatures great and small in their community.

Huuuge shout out to Trousdale County Veterinary Clinic. They had been highly recommended to me for multiple reasons and I see exactly why. Had an appointment for Monday for my fur baby due to a rash but it suddenly got worse over a day. Got up this morning and drove down to see if they could take a walk in. As I was speaking to the receptionist Dr. Towns walked up. He overheard me and said “ bring him on in and we’ll get him taken care of”. The kindness in his voice alone calmed my fur baby mama heart. When I came in, Diezel was crazy as usual. Loving the people but not the other dogs. They directed me to a room where I could let the leash go to fill out paperwork. Dr came in quickly, knew exactly what was wrong and fixed us up and we were out the door in 20 minutes. Cost of the services were very reasonable. AND the place smelled amazing lol. I will never use another vet after the care we received from the time we walked in the front door until the time we walked out. Thank you Dr. Towns and your amazing staff!

Had my 6 m/o kitten spayed. She was jumping up on shelves , climbing out of her crate in 2 days. Dr Towns and his staff are the best. This is the only clinic I take my pets to.
