We have brought our dog and cat in many, many times and always have a great experience. Most recently, I brought my cat in to see Dr. Carter. He asked different questions and provided a thorough exam making me feel comfortable that my cat was well taken care of. Even though my cat was a bit grumbly, Dr. Carter kept a positive atmosphere and even cracked some jokes. The vet tech was also incredibly patient when my cat required a trail of Churu to get back into his carrier. My cat decided he loved his carrier when we got home.

This dedication to a positive experience extends to every interaction, from the initial greeting to the detailed explanations of care plans.
The facility itself is designed to be clean, organized, and conducive to providing effective veterinary care. While specific details about the decor or architectural features are not extensively available, the consistent positive feedback on the overall experience suggests a well-maintained and efficiently run clinic. The atmosphere is clearly geared towards reducing the stress often associated with vet visits for both animals and their human companions.
Timberline Animal Hospital offers a broad spectrum of veterinary services, encompassing preventative care, diagnostics, treatment for illnesses and injuries, and ongoing health management. As a comprehensive "Pet Hospital," they are equipped to handle a wide variety of medical needs for dogs and cats. Key services include:
- Routine Wellness Exams: Regular check-ups are fundamental to preventative care, allowing veterinarians to monitor overall health, detect potential issues early, and provide guidance on diet, exercise, and preventative medications.
- Vaccinations: Administering essential vaccinations to protect pets from common and dangerous diseases.
- Diagnostic Services: This includes a range of tools such as blood tests, urinalysis, and imaging (e.g., ultrasounds), which are crucial for accurately diagnosing underlying health conditions. As evidenced by a customer review, they offer detailed diagnostics, even providing services like free ultrasounds in certain critical situations, which speaks to their commitment to thorough investigation.
- Treatment for Illnesses and Injuries: From common infections to more complex or mysterious ailments, the hospital provides medical and, where appropriate, surgical treatments. Their ability to manage acute and critical conditions, even if not a dedicated emergency clinic, is a significant strength.
- Prescription Medications: Dispensing necessary medications to manage chronic conditions or aid in recovery from acute illnesses.
- Dental Care: Essential for a pet's overall health, likely including cleanings and extractions.
- Parasite Prevention and Control: Advice and products to protect pets from fleas, ticks, heartworms, and other parasites.
- Nutritional Counseling: Guidance on appropriate diets for a pet's age, breed, and health status.
While Timberline Animal Hospital is not explicitly an emergency service provider, customer testimonials reveal their willingness and capability to accommodate urgent cases when possible. Their responsiveness, even getting appointments within an hour for critical situations when they open, highlights their dedication to patient well-being, even if outside their stated emergency hours. This flexibility can be life-saving for pets in desperate need.
Several features distinguish Timberline Animal Hospital and contribute to its excellent reputation:
- Highly Skilled and Empathetic Veterinarians: Doctors like Dr. Carter and Dr. Kimball receive consistent praise for their thoroughness, diagnostic acumen, and compassionate approach. Dr. Carter is noted for asking insightful questions and performing comprehensive exams, making pet owners feel secure about their animal's care. Dr. Kimball is hailed as a "saint and hero" for twice saving a cat's life through expert diagnosis and treatment, even when other institutions had failed.
- Remarkable Affordability: A recurring theme in customer reviews is the surprisingly low cost of their services, especially given the high quality of care. One client noted being charged "less than $200" to save a cat's life, including a free ultrasound that would have cost significantly more elsewhere. This commitment to accessible care is a major draw for pet owners.
- Personalized and Collaborative Approach: The vets and staff take the time to communicate effectively with pet owners, discussing treatment plans and collaborating on the best course of action. This ensures that owners feel informed and empowered in their pet's care journey. The positive communication style, even with "grumbly" pets, and the willingness to engage in "back and forth" discussions about treatment options, fosters a strong sense of partnership.
- Dedication to Saving Lives: The dramatic testimonials of pets being saved from critical conditions, even after being dismissed by other emergency vets, speak volumes about Timberline's commitment and capability. Their willingness to "try" and their success in turning around dire situations highlight their exceptional medical prowess and dedication.
- Patient and Understanding Support Staff: The vet techs are consistently praised for their patience, even with challenging pets. The anecdote of a vet tech using a "trail of Churu" to coax a cat back into its carrier exemplifies the gentle and creative approaches they employ.

Rescued this younger cat a year ago and he's now fell ill with a mysterious sickness twice. Should probably find a way to donate or get a nice gift together at this point. The first time I was worried he wouldn't make it and the second time I was downright sure he we going to pass, even the Dr. Kimball thought this last one was a long shot. ~~~ I had taken Cooper the cat to the CSU emergency vet the day prior (Sunday) and though they charged over $500 for diagnostics tests, they found nothing useful and refused to give me anything of value to get the cat on the recovery path. I couldnt even underatand the vet due to his thick accent. I begged them for a steroid or anti-biotic since that fixed him up in the past but they basically condemned him to death. It's always an awful experience at the CSU Vet. I got to Timberline Animal Hospital right when they opened up on Monday Morning and though they don't do emergency service, they got me an appointment within an hour after I got there. Cooper the cat was in really bad shape after being denied treatment for another 24 hours. It was obvious to everyone, he looked like he was done for. He wouldn't eat or drink, couldn't walk straight or stand well and now it didn't even seem like he could lay comfortably. It was terrible. Dr. Kimball consulted the lead vet and they agreed to try anti-biotics, steroids and fluids. Cooper is at full strength now. He is eating, drinking, purring, snuggling and loving life. It hasn't even been a full week since all this happened. They charged me less than $200 to save his life and gave him a free ultrasound to try to find out more about his illness. The free ultrasound alone would of been $390 +tax at the CSU Vet 馃槻 The difference in service was night and day. One was not a warm experience, I couldn't communicate and converse properly with the vet, they overcharged me and left my cat to die even when I pleaded for something I knew had worked in the past. The other was so kind and understanding, we talked back and forth and really came to a mutual plan for my animal, one where I could feel like I tried all I could before he passed and thank goodness because this hail marry attempt actually worked. I regard Dr. Kimball and the other people over there as saints and heroes.

Feb 24, 2025 路 Bryan WhitakerI need to share my experience with you regarding Timberline Animal Hospital in Fort Collins! Our beloved cat who we found in a gutter 12 years ago in Florida stopped eating and drinking and was wasting away! We were beside ourselves because we didn鈥檛 have a vet and we didn鈥檛 want our beautiful boy to suffer anymore! We called around and chose this office to take our baby to. Dr Anna Kimball was the kindest, most empathetic vet I have ever been to! My Husband and I were beside ourselves and Anna comforted us and was so good with our Griffy! Everyone there was lovely and any animals we get we will only take to Dr Anna! We cant thank you enough for your warmth and empathy on possibly one of the Hardest days of our lives! We miss our boy terribly but Dr Anna made it just that bit easier! All our love Val and Gary Morrison PS. Thank you with all our hearts for the Beautiful card signed by so many lovely people and for our Griffy鈥檚 little footprints, we will cherish forever! All of the next furbabies we get will be taken to you! 鉂わ笍鉂わ笍鉂わ笍
