My current (and wonderful) regular veterinarian referred me to Dr. Cavanagh to perform a luxating patella surgery on my 2-year-old Brussels Griffon since my vet no longer performs these surgeries. I have only been with my current vet Dr. Ron Huitger, for 30+ years, so I was extremely nervous knowing I'd need to trust another DVM with my dog . I honestly had no idea what to expect since this was my first time dealing with a patella issue. The day Dr. Ron gave me the diagnosis and referral I went straight to All Creatures to inquire about getting a surgical consult appointment with Dr. Cavanagh. I have to start by saying that when I first walked in their door, I noticed that the clinic was not only sparkling clean but quite large and esthetically stunning! I later found out they had recently expanded and remodeled. The clinic has a great PNW feel with a warm and inviting atmosphere. They have a self serve coffee bar, a stocked mini fridge and a darling gift area where you can browse around while you wait. Although busy when I arrived, I was immediately acknowledged by the front desk and asked how I could be helped by Jan at the front who was incredibly helpful, friendly and very knowledgeable. Initially, I was only looking to schedule a consult. However, Jan recommended also adding the actual surgery onto their schedule as well since Dr's surgery days tended to fill up quickly. She even tried to move things around to try to get a consult appt and surgery within the same week, but ultimately had to schedule the surgery a week after the consult. Jan also took the time to answer any questions I had regarding the surgery and further explained their typical processes for this surgery. I honestly did leave their office feeling much less anxious about what was yet to come, thanks to Jan. The following week, I met with Dr. Cavanagh for the surgery consult/exam and he was just an absolute delight to speak with! He examined Virgil, explained to me in great detail (with visual aids) how they grade these luxating patella's, what the surgery would entail, and post-op instructions, etc. Once again, I left feeling even more confident that this was the right decision and that Virgil would be in excellent hands through this. A week later, Virgil had surgery and Dr. Cavanagh called to brief me on the surgery went and again went over the post-op instructions, his recommended treatment plan for 8 laser therapy treatments and 8 Adequan injections. The following day when I picked up Virgil, I was able to make all his appointments for those laser treatments and injections and they sent us off with printed post-op instructions, and a darling gift box that contained all his medications including a soft e-collar, a bag of pill pockets, a Kong chew toy and packets of Jiffy Natural peanut butter to fill the Kong with. Okay, I was impressed. Virgil is now 1 week post surgery. His twice weekly laser and injection treatments have been a breeze. We are in and out of those appointments in less than 15 minutes, and so far, he's been doing great in his recovery. He still has multiple weeks to go on his healing journey, and yes, it can be challenging at times, but Dr. Cavanagh and his staff have been clear that they are here to help whenever I may need it. As for the financial cost? Like I said, this was my first time having to get any type of orthopedic surgery for any of my dogs, so I was bracing myself to expect to pay out at least $5k minimum if not more. So you can imagine my shock when everything said and done, was less than half of what I was initially expecting. This was such a relief, especially after learning during the initial consult exam that, unfortunately, Virgil's opposite knee also needs the same surgery once this side fully heals. I honestly can't even begin to express how highly I recommend Dr. Cavanagh and his entire All Creatures staff. They have been incredible throughout this entire experience.

Based on the enthusiastic testimonials from pet owners, Tim Cavanagh, DVM, operating out of what appears to be "All Creatures" clinic, offers a wide range of high-quality and compassionate veterinary services. One detailed review recounts a referral for a luxating patella surgery on a Brussels Griffon. This experience highlights several key aspects of the clinic. Firstly, the environment is described as "sparkling clean," "quite large," and "esthetically stunning," noting a recent expansion and remodel with a "great PNW feel" and a "warm and inviting atmosphere." Amenities include a self-serve coffee bar, a stocked mini-fridge, and a gift area for browsing while waiting, suggesting a comfortable and welcoming environment for pet owners.
The service begins with a positive interaction with Jan at the front desk, who is described as "incredibly helpful, friendly, and very knowledgeable." Jan efficiently managed scheduling, even attempting to expedite the consult and surgery. She also took the time to answer questions about the surgical process, which significantly eased the owner's anxiety. This emphasizes the clinic's efficient and supportive administrative staff.
The consultation with Dr. Cavanagh himself is described as a "delight." He thoroughly explained the condition using visual aids, detailed the surgical procedure, and provided post-operative instructions. This instilled confidence in the pet owner regarding the decision to proceed with the surgery and the care their dog would receive. Following the successful surgery, Dr. Cavanagh personally briefed the owner and outlined a comprehensive post-operative plan including laser therapy treatments and Adequan injections. The follow-up care was well-organized, with easy scheduling of these treatments, printed post-operative instructions, and a thoughtful "darling gift box" containing medications, a soft e-collar, pill pockets, a Kong chew toy, and peanut butter – showcasing a high level of care and attention to detail.
The review also praises the efficiency of the post-operative laser and injection treatments, with appointments lasting less than 15 minutes. Importantly, the financial aspect was a pleasant surprise, with the total cost being "less than half" of what the owner initially expected for an orthopedic surgery. This suggests that the clinic offers high-quality care at reasonable prices.
Another deeply touching review speaks to Dr. Cavanagh's compassion during end-of-life care. The owner of a 13+ year old dog recounts Dr. Cavanagh helping their pet "over the rainbow bridge" and the profound kindness shown afterward, including sending flowers and personally ensuring a beautiful engraved urn for the cremated remains, all at his own expense. This highlights Dr. Cavanagh's exceptional empathy and dedication to supporting pet owners through difficult times.
