Almost 2 years ago our Tiffany was diagnosed with hypothyroidism. We started with the Methimazole pill, she developed an allergy to it within 2 weeks. Then we resorted to the science diet Y/D cat food to keep things regulated. It worked for about a year....We started to notice weight loss, constant hunger and vomiting. Tiffany was constantly stressed, constantly begging for food, it became such a full time job feeding her. Small amounts every 30 min so she wouldn鈥檛 vomit, morning and night. We were stressed, she was stressed and watching her waste away was a nightmare. She was down to 8lbs, originally weighing 12lbs. Dr. Christensen , Tiffany鈥檚 doctor at Hudson Highlands Veterinary Medical Group, PC recommended Radioactive Iodine Therapy. This is a very costly procedure so I shopped around and after careful research we went with Thyro-Cat, LLP In Danbury CT. The staff was SO attentive, informative and kind. They checked in with me daily as she had to spend 4 days there. When I picked her up she was a happy kitty, not stressed at all! I was so worried about this. After treatment was completed we were instructed to wait 3 months before retesting her thyroid levels. Today I received the BEST news ever. Tiffany is cured, her levels are all back to normal! She also weighed in at 11.5lbs yesterday! She鈥檚 no longer begging for food (as much)馃槀. Eating normal rations and is napping and content like an almost 13yo. kitty should! I Highly recommend ThyroCat if your kitty needs radioactive iodine therapy. It saved her life! 馃挏 Thank you!

Welcome to Thyro-Cat Feline Hyperthyroidism Treatment Center-Stamford, CT

Welcome to Thyro-Cat Feline Hyperthyroidism Treatment Center, located at 1029 E Main St, Stamford, CT 06902, USA. Operating under the broader category of a specialized Pet Hospital, Thyro-Cat focuses exclusively on providing comprehensive and effective treatment for feline hyperthyroidism. Understanding the challenges and concerns that come with a hyperthyroid diagnosis in your beloved cat, Thyro-Cat offers a dedicated environment and a team of professionals committed to the well-being of your furry family member.

At Thyro-Cat, the primary service offered is Radioactive Iodine (I-131) therapy, a leading and often curative treatment for feline hyperthyroidism. Hyperthyroidism, a common endocrine disorder in older cats, results from an overactive thyroid gland producing excessive thyroid hormones. This can lead to a range of clinical signs, including weight loss despite increased appetite, increased thirst and urination, hyperactivity, vomiting, diarrhea, and an increased heart rate. If left untreated, hyperthyroidism can lead to serious complications such as heart disease, high blood pressure, and kidney problems.

Radioactive iodine therapy is a safe and effective treatment that targets and destroys the overactive thyroid tissue while leaving the healthy thyroid tissue and other bodily functions unaffected. This therapy typically involves a single subcutaneous injection of a small dose of radioactive iodine. Due to the nature of the treatment, cats undergoing this therapy require a period of isolation in a specialized facility to ensure the safety of both the animal and the public. Thyro-Cat provides a comfortable and secure environment for your cat during this crucial treatment phase.

Based on customer reviews, the environment at Thyro-Cat is characterized by attentiveness, informative communication, and kindness from the staff. One reviewer shared their positive experience with Tiffany, their cat diagnosed with hyperthyroidism. After unsuccessful attempts with medication (Methimazole) and a special diet (Science Diet Y/D), Tiffany's veterinarian recommended Radioactive Iodine Therapy. The owner chose Thyro-Cat in Danbury, CT (presumably a sister facility or the same entity, as Stamford is another location), highlighting the staff's exceptional care during Tiffany's four-day stay. The daily check-ins provided reassurance to the worried owner. Upon discharge, Tiffany was described as happy and not stressed, a significant relief to her owner.

The features of Thyro-Cat's service extend beyond just the medical procedure itself. The positive reviews emphasize the importance of:

  • Attentive and Caring Staff: The team at Thyro-Cat is dedicated to providing compassionate care to each feline patient. They understand the anxiety associated with leaving your pet for treatment and strive to make the process as smooth and stress-free as possible for both the cat and the owner.
  • Informative Communication: Clear and consistent communication is a priority. Staff members keep owners updated on their cat's progress throughout the treatment period, addressing any concerns and answering all questions thoroughly.
  • Specialized Facility: Thyro-Cat is equipped with the necessary facilities to safely administer radioactive iodine therapy and house cats during their post-treatment isolation period. This specialized environment ensures the well-being and safety of the animals and adheres to all regulatory guidelines.
  • Effective Treatment: The ultimate feature is the high success rate of radioactive iodine therapy in curing feline hyperthyroidism. As evidenced by the testimonial, cats often return to their normal health and activity levels after the treatment is completed.

The success story of Tiffany highlights the potential benefits of choosing Radioactive Iodine Therapy at Thyro-Cat. After the three-month post-treatment waiting period for thyroid level retesting, Tiffany's levels returned to normal, and she regained weight, going from a concerning 8 lbs back to a healthier 11.5 lbs. Her distressing symptoms of constant hunger and vomiting resolved, and her overall demeanor improved significantly. She was able to eat normal portions, nap contentedly, and enjoy life like a typical senior cat.

While specific promotional information isn't available in the provided text, the strong positive testimonials act as a powerful endorsement for Thyro-Cat's services. The recommendation from a referring veterinarian (Dr. Christensen at Hudson Highlands Veterinary Medical Group, PC) further underscores the credibility and reputation of Thyro-Cat in the veterinary community.
