Welcome to the Veterinary Surgical Referral Center
For pet owners in Tulsa, Oklahoma, facing the prospect of complex veterinary surgical procedures for their beloved animals, having access to specialized expertise is crucial. The Veterinary Surgical Referral Center, located at Commerce Shopping Center, 7222 E 41st St, Tulsa, OK 74145, USA, stands as a premier "Pet Hospital" uniquely dedicated to advanced surgical care for companion animals. With a direct focus on referrals for specialized procedures, this center offers a critical service within the local veterinary landscape. Their contact information, phone: (918) 610-3569 and mobile: +1 918-610-3569, ensures accessibility for referring veterinarians and pet owners seeking their expert services.
Operating under the "Pet Hospital" category, The Veterinary Surgical Referral Center distinguishes itself by concentrating on a niche yet vital area of veterinary medicine: advanced surgery. Unlike a general practice "Pet Hospital" that offers a broad spectrum of services, a referral center specializes in intricate procedures that often require highly specific equipment, extensive training, and a deep understanding of complex surgical techniques. This specialization means they are equipped to handle challenging cases that might be beyond the scope of a primary care veterinarian. The "Pet Hospital" designation here emphasizes a facility that is fully equipped for hospitalization, intensive care, and sophisticated medical interventions, but with a heightened focus on surgical solutions.
When considering the environment of The Veterinary Surgical Referral Center, the patient testimonials provide valuable insight. The successful outcomes, such as Dottie being "near 100% at 3 1/2 months out" and "back to 100%," imply a highly professional and sterile environment essential for successful surgical procedures. A specialized surgical facility would typically feature state-of-the-art operating rooms with advanced anesthesia monitoring equipment, specialized surgical instruments, and recovery areas designed for optimal post-operative healing. The emphasis on "personal care, communication, and concern" for the pet, as well as the "detailed post-op care and rehabilitation instructions," suggests an environment that extends beyond just the surgical suite. This indicates dedicated staff who provide attentive pre- and post-operative nursing care, a clean and comfortable space for recovery, and a structured approach to rehabilitation. The fact that the quoted price was the final price also speaks to a transparent and trustworthy administrative environment, which reduces stress for pet owners.
The services offered at The Veterinary Surgical Referral Center are highly specialized, focusing primarily on surgical interventions that require advanced expertise. As a "Pet Hospital" with a referral focus, their services would include:
- Orthopedic Surgery: This is a core service, as evidenced by the successful "CCL repair" (Cranial Cruciate Ligament, a common knee injury in dogs). They would handle a wide range of orthopedic issues including fracture repair, patellar luxation correction, joint stabilization, and other musculoskeletal problems.
- Soft Tissue Surgery: This encompasses a vast array of procedures involving internal organs, skin, and other non-bony structures. Examples include tumor removals, abdominal surgeries (e.g., foreign body removal, organ biopsies), thoracic surgeries, and reconstructive procedures.
- Neurological Surgery: For conditions affecting the brain or spinal cord, such as intervertebral disc disease.
- Pre-surgical Consultations and Diagnostics: Thorough evaluations, including advanced imaging (such as CT scans or MRI, if available on-site or through referral networks), to accurately diagnose the condition and plan the most appropriate surgical approach.
- Anesthesia and Pain Management: Highly skilled veterinary anesthesiologists or technicians providing specialized anesthesia protocols and meticulous monitoring during surgery, followed by comprehensive pain management strategies for recovery.
- Post-operative Care and Rehabilitation Instructions: This is a critical component, highlighted by the review. They provide detailed guidance for at-home care, exercise restrictions, and potentially physical therapy recommendations to ensure optimal recovery and return to function. This individualized approach significantly contributes to successful outcomes.
- Referral Consultations: Working closely with primary care veterinarians, the center provides expert opinions and surgical options for complex cases referred to them.
The features that distinguish The Veterinary Surgical Referral Center are clearly articulated in the customer testimonials. Foremost is the undeniable expertise and skill of the surgical team, particularly Dr. Dean, whose "very fine work" led to "great results" and a "fabulous Christmas present" for Dottie's family. The successful "CCL repair" and Coco's knee recovery underscore their proficiency in complex orthopedic procedures. Another significant feature is their commitment to "personal care, communication, and concern." This indicates that while they are highly specialized, they do not compromise on the human-animal bond. They keep pet owners well-informed and actively involved in the recovery process, providing "detailed post-op care and rehabilitation instructions." This level of communication and guidance is invaluable for achieving positive outcomes. Furthermore, the transparency in pricing – "Price that was quoted was the price" – builds trust and alleviates financial anxieties for pet owners, a highly valued feature in specialized veterinary care. The professionalism of the staff is also highlighted, ensuring a smooth and reassuring experience from initial consultation through recovery. The gratitude expressed by pet owners, exemplified by "Coco thanks you too," emphasizes the profound impact their work has on the lives of both pets and their families.
Regarding promotional information, The Veterinary Surgical Referral Center's primary promotion stems from its successful patient outcomes and the enthusiastic endorsements of satisfied clients and referring veterinarians. Their reputation for delivering "great results" and providing "personal care" and "detailed post-op instructions" is their most powerful marketing tool. As a referral center, their promotion is often directed towards general practice veterinarians who trust them with their complex surgical cases. They might participate in continuing education seminars for local vets or distribute informational materials to clinics. Direct promotion to pet owners would emphasize their specialization, the expertise of their surgeons (like Dr. Dean), and their commitment to comprehensive post-operative support. The accessible contact information, (918) 610-3569 and +1 918-610-3569, serves as a direct line for inquiries and referrals. The tangible results – pets returning to "100%" – are far more compelling than any traditional advertisement, speaking volumes about the center's capabilities and dedication to restoring pet health and mobility.
In conclusion, The Veterinary Surgical Referral Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma, operates as a specialized "Pet Hospital" providing advanced and highly skilled surgical solutions for complex animal health issues. Their expertise, particularly in orthopedic procedures like CCL repair, combined with their unwavering commitment to personalized care, clear communication, and comprehensive post-operative guidance, makes them an invaluable resource for pet owners and referring veterinarians seeking the highest standard of surgical care for their animal companions.

Jul 16, 2021 · Emanuel PanagiotisDr. Dean fixed Pita's botched PTLO surgery. He was simply a Godsend.
Jan 30, 2025 · Stacie BI would highly recommend Dr. Paul Dean, DVM. My Boxer had a broken pelvis and Dr. Dean was exceptional in kindness and care with my pet. He talked to me about the procedure and showed a sample of the plate used. Before the appointment the cost was discussed and was the cost at completion of surgery. Dr. Dean’s co-worker, Angela greeted me kindly and with the utmost respect. They took great care of me and my pet.
Feb 06, 2020 · Elizabeth StreichDr Dean did an excellent job of correcting my Cairn Terrier mix’s luxating patella and also repaired her ACL. We followed his protocols and she healed wonderfully. Due to her age and arthritis, Dr Dean also recommended a regimen of glucosamine injections. These shots have added a real spring to her step. I am very grateful for the talented care provided by Dr Dean and his talented assistant. Note: the price quoted for the procedure was the amount charged. I think the price was very reasonable. My dog is enjoying a great quality of life. Goal achieved!
