The Pet Doctor of Flushing

Dr. Benson is an experienced vet but he is more a businessman. His whole team never showed any care or love to pets. I feel they are overbooked because the waiting time was so long and he or his other doctors were very rush at the appointment. We started going three about 3 years ago. Every time we saw a different vet; the one we saw at the last appointment would not be employed there at the next visit. On March 8, my little dog suddenly lost mobility in his hind legs. We rushed to the office desperately by 9:30am. The front desk said we would been seen at 10:40am(it was roughly an hour wait) so we decided to wait. But no one came to us. Th front desk kept telling me “I’m the next”. Not until 11:50 we were called in. The doctor looked my dog and ordered X-ray. I asked him how much it would cost and he told me about $250. The X-ray shows he has severe IVDD, then Dr Benson said he couldn’t do anything but referred me to a Neurologist for an emergency surgery. He could have checked my dog earlier then I could rush to the right place rather than sitting in his waiting room for 2 hours. Before I left, they invoiced me $370 for the X-ray and additional office visit which is not even negotiable. After that, we went to a large animal hospital in Long Island. My dog was taken in immediately for checkup. The vet was super kind and patient to explain all the options and potential costs to me. They didn’t have any neurosurgeon on site at that time. But she was trying to comfort me and offered to call the other hospital. She even didn’t charge me anything for the visit. Now I know THERE ARE BETTER VETS than the Pet Doctor.

I love this place and the doctors. They accomodate and you never feel rushed. I bring all three dogs here. These are my babies.

Dr John, was the reason we came here for years. After he left the other doctors (minus Dr Benson) have no idea how to handle big dogs or are just genuinely scared. At that point get a new line of work. I have a German Shepard and he has been going to this place and groomers and road trips for years. We have 2 small children never hurt a soul. Today’s incident was beyond me. Random lady asked if she can pet him and if he bites I replied with no. She put her hand out let my dog smell her and pet him. (As a normal person with even the slightest bit of a brain cell should know to do). My dog was already nervous because he’s smart and knows where he is. The new doctor came out of no where all loud and energetic and startled my dog. So his reaction of course was to bark at him. He wanted me to put a muzzle on my dog. My dog is 8. I have never put a muzzle on him in his life. I don’t feel comfortable about doing it it’s just going to make him flustered. We have been going here since we got him and NEVER had an issue until Dr John left. As someone who works with animals on the daily. You should know what to do around them and that’s clearly what you DONT do. walk up in front and startle them being loud. I called my wife to explain the situation and see what she wanted to do because our dog does need medical attention as he has a wound that’s not getting better and as I’m on the phone . The doctor extremely rudely tells me “I made the decision for you” . Meaning he denied seeing my animal because I was a little on the fence about doing that to my animal which to me is borderline cruelty. It’s one thing if I had an aggressive dog but he is NOT that at all. All in all. If you have any kind of animal that is over 7 lbs . Go find someone else who actually knows how to deal with an animal of that size. Trust. We won’t be returning

My cat was treated at the Pet Doctor for a UTI. The care and treatment they gave him was fantastic. The doctor, his assistant and the staff were very helpful. I would highly recommend them to anyone who asks that they are veterinarians who care.

I came to Pet Doctor to cremate my beloved cat, Foxy. Everyone was so friendly and professional. They went beyond my expectation. Not only did I receive Foxy’s ashes, they did her paw print, left some of her fur in a small cute glass jar, a loving poem, kept some flower pedals that we left for her. I’m extremely happy to know Pet Doctor will take care of your pet no matter what the circumstances.
