This was my dog Vega’s first full stay here, and overall I’m really impressed. She’s a reactive pitbull with a trauma background, and I was genuinely nervous about finding a new kennel after her previous one closed. From the very beginning, I felt reassured. During her trial run, I was given a full tour, had the chance to speak with a trainer, and got a good sense of how seriously they take both safety and individualized care. They offer enrichment add-ons like one-on-one playtime (which was perfect for Vega since she doesn’t do well with other dogs), daily photo updates, and even Kongs for mental stimulation. For longer stays, they build in additional play sessions, which I really appreciated. They also gave me a report card about how she did during her stay. Vega came home looking healthy, happy, and relaxed, truly the best outcome I could’ve hoped for. They were also very thorough about documentation. Unlike some other kennels, they required full vaccination records up front, which gave me peace of mind. Everything about the care, communication, and attention to detail was excellent. The only reason I’m leaving four stars instead of five is due to an upsetting experience during pickup. I misunderstood the Sunday pickup hours and arrived early. I attempted to call and knock, but no one responded, and eventually I used an unlocked employee entrance door to try to find help. While I now understand that wasn’t the correct procedure, I explained the situation repeatedly. Unfortunately, I was met with a harsh and scolding tone from the staff member I encountered, which felt completely disproportionate. I was literally in tears by pickup time, and now I have terrible anxiety; not about Vega’s care, which was fantastic, but about the possibility of interacting with that specific person again. As an autistic person, I sometimes struggle to navigate unclear procedures, especially when something unexpected happens. That’s a real (if invisible) disability, and the lack of patience and the hostility I experienced during pickup hit hard. I also strongly feel that race may have played a role in how I was treated during pickup. As a Black woman approaching 40, I know the difference between someone enforcing a rule and someone treating me like I’m a threat or a problem. The staff member I interacted with spoke to me with an unnecessary level of hostility and condescension, like I was absurd for even being there, despite my repeated explanations. I understand not everyone will see it this way, but this is how it felt to me, and I think it’s important to name. If I were a white woman making the same honest mistake, I truly believe the interaction would have gone very differently. That adds to why I feel such intense anxiety about returning, not because of the care my dog received (which was excellent), but because I don’t want to be treated like that again. If the same care and empathy I saw toward Vega had been extended to me in that moment, this would be a five-star review without question. That said, I want to emphasize: the care itself was outstanding. Vega was safe, enriched, and well-supported. I truly appreciate the work this team put into her stay.

At The Animal House Groom and Board, the environment is designed with your pet's comfort and safety in mind. The facility boasts clean, spacious kennels for boarding, ensuring each animal has a comfortable and secure space during their stay. Recognizing that each pet is unique, they offer various boarding options to cater to different sizes and temperaments. For dogs, this includes individual kennels and opportunities for enrichment activities. While not a traditional pet hospital with on-site veterinary medical services, The Animal House Groom and Board prioritizes the health and safety of every animal in their care. They meticulously require full vaccination records for all boarding guests, providing peace of mind to owners that their pets are in a healthy and protected environment. This rigorous documentation process mirrors the standards expected in a veterinary setting, emphasizing preventative care and disease control.

A standout feature of The Animal House Groom and Board is their commitment to individualized care and enrichment. Daily photo updates allow owners to stay connected with their pets and see them happy and well-cared for. They also provide mental stimulation through Kongs and build in additional play sessions for extended boarding periods, ensuring pets remain engaged and content. This focus on the individual needs of each animal aligns with the personalized care often found in a dedicated pet hospital.

Furthermore, The Animal House Groom and Board offers pet training services through their AH Training Club. As highlighted in a customer review, their training programs, led by professionals like Michael Haverkorn, can address specific behavioral challenges and improve the overall well-being of your pet. I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the animal house groom and board members for their unwavering support and guidance with my deaf boxer mix dog, Bluey. Recently, we adopted Bluey and quickly realized that communicating with him was a challenge due to his deafness. This was further complicated by the fact that our two other dogs were struggling to get along with him. Fortunately, we reached out to AH Training Club, where Michael Haverkorn trained Bluey. The training not only improved Bluey's behavior but also strengthened his bond with our other dogs, ultimately enhancing our family life. Michael's dedication to his program and his ability to address all my concerns were invaluable. As a family, we are proud of Bluey's progress and grateful for Michael's hard work.

I took my two boxers here for their very first Groom. They are both 5 years old and never been to a groomer (their coats are short so low maintenance). I recently had back surgery so bending and clipping nails and bathing them is a painful if not impossible task. Animal House got us in super quick. This place is a well-oiled machine. They bathed, brushed, cleaned ears, expressed anal glands, and clipped nails. I was anxious about the dog’s experience so when I, impatiently, called to check in, the staff was very sweet and gave me a positive update. I like that I drop them off at the designated time and they call me when they are ready! We don’t groom or board often but if we do in the future this is where we’ll go.

My Jac was way overdue for a haircut. I couldn't groom him any longer. My Little cockapoo became a biting, territorial, Little boy. Vet gave me meds to chill him out and he got a good boy report card. Every 10 weeks for a groom is our plan. They did an exceptional job!!

We have brought our golden doodles there a few times and have been very satisfied. The staff seem to genuinely care about our dogs and the dogs seem happy when we pick them up. Fancy little report card is nice as well (see photo). We plan to continue to use Animal House for grooming.
