We just moved from NC to FL in June so we were looking for a new vet home. I hate to be “that person” but for the 1st time in a long time, I am writing a few negative reviews. And in case you’re going to read my entire post, this has not come quickly. My appointment at SAH was on Oct 15. Many things have happened with our pet since then so I am just now sitting down to write this review, just as much for you, if you’re reading still, as for the practice itself. The 2 stars are for the front desk staff, Christina, alone. She was wonderful. The rest of the appt was bad. (I’d use other words, but those 3 letters will do.) Our dog had a lump on his leg our NC vet was monitoring. It got bigger. Per his instructions, we tried to find a new doc when we got settled. Found this vet per a referral. Scheduling was fairly easy, we did have to pay a $50 fee up front, which went towards the appointment. We checked in fine. When we got to the back room, there was NO interaction about possibly becoming our new vet home, they knew I had just moved b/c I said so. OK, so not everybody is as talkative as me, fine, just noted it b/c it seems like they would want to gain a new client. The doctor came in, did not even introduce herself. No eye contact. No “small talk.” Again, ok, so not everybody talks. She immediately started talking about amputation. First thing. No welcome, no questions, no interaction, no questions about our dog. I was taken back. Again, I did not want to be that dog mom that was just mad at “her baby’s” diagnosis, but to have zero conversation and then to start diagnosing with zero questions. I would have gotten up and left, but I did stay long enough to get the name of the specialist they normally referred. There has been NO aftercare, zero reaching out, no phone calls, no emails or texts asking how he is doing. Since Oct 15, plenty of time for something, anything. If they knew the diagnosis warranted an amputation, why would they not at minimum send a personal email? (We did get the usual bulk email.) Since that time, we did take our dog to be seen, he does have cancer, he did have surgery but still has his leg. We lost one of our other dogs to old age, but have a 3rd pup we will not be taking here b/c of this experience. This is a personal experience. I get that, again, I hate to be that person. I have no idea what type of care they give. But after this interaction, they did not leave it open for me to continue going to them. I hope others will have a better experience.

Dec 19, 2024 · Amanda WilkinsAbout a year ago our German shepherd developed cancer of the spleen and had to be put to sleep. It has taken me this long to be able to write this review. If you’ve ever had a German shepherd you probably can relate. Anyway, Patton was first and foremost our son’s dog. Our son was very anxious. We all were. I cannot brag enough on the professional manner in which this was handled by Switzerland Animal Hospital. A candle was lit and the entire staff came back and several of them were also crying. Such compassion. When my son got home he said that was such a load of his shoulders because he had been with friends where this procedure was not this way. This is the most caring vets office we have ever been to! Every interaction with this office is first class.
Oct 11, 2024 · Laura ThompsonI've been going here for my pets needs for multiple generations of dogs. Dr Bredehoeft and Dr Nihls have always provided great care for all my dogs.
Nov 23, 2024 · Michael ThompsonI love how much all the staff understands the love we have for our babies. They are so professional and loving. They explain each step in the treatment plan and cost. I wish blue cross and blue shield would cover my fur babies. We will continue seeking these vets.
Jan 10, 2025 · Tactical ShenanigansWonderful and compassionate staff. I brought my dog there after she was injured by another dog. They seen us immediately and took wonderful care of her, checked in her the next day. Highly recommend!
