An update to the response from Dr. Glassberg is on Yelp, as Google Reviews have a character limit, unfortunately. Original Review: Unfortunately, I will not be returning to Sunnycrest Animal Care Center due to two significant issues that have compromised the safety and well-being of my dog. The first incident occurred during a routine dental cleaning. My dog underwent the standard procedure, and without prior notice or consultation, they decided to extract a cracked tooth. With a proper referral to a dental specialist, the tooth could have been saved instead of removed, which was deeply disappointing. The second, more recent issue involved surgery to remove a mass near her breast and spaying. We chose the higher-cost laser surgery option, expecting a quicker and less painful recovery. However, Sunnycrest failed to inform us that the operating doctor was not trained to use the laser equipment. Although we were initially told the surgery went well, they also treated my dog for a chronic ear infection. When I asked the doctor about the recurring nature of this ear infection, supposedly due to allergies, they were unable to explain it in simple terms. If you cannot clearly explain a medical issue, it raises serious concerns about understanding the problem. Four days after the surgery, my dog began bleeding as her stitches unraveled. The staff blamed my dog for licking the wound even though she was wearing a gown the entire time, which prevented access to the surgical site. When we rushed back to Sunnycrest to address the bleeding and early signs of infection, they charged us for the follow-up care, even though the issue stemmed from their inadequate stitching. Unfortunately, the problem persisted, and the next day, my dog started bleeding again. We had to take her to the emergency room, where the ER vet confirmed that Sunnycrest had not properly stitched the wound or effectively cleaned the infection. My dog required another surgery and an overnight stay at the ER. Thankfully, after this procedure, her recovery improved significantly, and the quality of care at the ER was noticeably superior to that provided by Sunnycrest. While I initially appreciated Sunnycrest, these experiences have completely eroded my trust in their care. Sadly, they have lost us as clients.

The environment of a pet hospital plays a crucial role in the comfort and well-being of both the animals and their owners. While specific details about the facilities at Sunnycrest Animal Care Center are not provided in the given reviews, a typical pet hospital includes examination rooms for consultations, surgical suites for various procedures, areas for diagnostic imaging, and potentially in-house laboratory services. Cleanliness, organization, and a calming atmosphere are generally expected in such a setting to minimize stress for animals and maintain sanitary conditions for medical procedures.

The services offered by a pet hospital are fundamental to its role in the community's pet care ecosystem. Based on the customer reviews, Sunnycrest Animal Care Center provides a range of services, including routine dental cleanings, surgical procedures such as mass removal and spaying, and treatment for common ailments like ear infections. A comprehensive pet hospital typically offers a broader spectrum of services, which may include:

  • Preventative care, such as vaccinations, parasite control, and wellness examinations.
  • Dental care, encompassing cleanings, extractions, and oral health assessments.
  • Surgical services, including routine surgeries (spay/neuter) and more complex procedures.
  • Diagnostic services, such as laboratory testing (blood work, urinalysis), X-rays, and potentially ultrasound.
  • Management of chronic diseases like diabetes, arthritis, and allergies.
  • Emergency care for acute illnesses and injuries (though one review suggests limitations in this area).

The specific array of services available at Sunnycrest Animal Care Center should be confirmed by contacting them directly.

The features that distinguish a pet hospital often include the expertise and approach of the veterinary staff, the technology and equipment utilized, and the overall quality of patient care and communication. One positive review explicitly mentions "loving the staff" and commends their good care of animals, suggesting a positive aspect of their service. However, a detailed negative review presents a contrasting perspective, highlighting several critical issues. This review mentions a dental extraction performed without prior consultation, the use of laser surgery by a non-trained doctor, and a failure to adequately address a post-surgical infection due to improper stitching. The reviewer also notes a lack of clear explanation regarding a recurring ear infection and being charged for follow-up care necessitated by the hospital's alleged inadequacies. The stark contrast between these two reviews underscores the importance of considering all available feedback.

Promotional information for Sunnycrest Animal Care Center is not provided in the given text. Pet hospitals often offer various promotions to attract new clients or encourage specific services. These could include discounts on initial examinations, package deals for vaccinations, or seasonal offers on dental cleanings. Without any such information in the provided reviews, it is not possible to comment on any current or past promotions offered by Sunnycrest Animal Care Center. Local users interested in such offers should directly inquire with the hospital.

Based on the available customer reviews, Sunnycrest Animal Care Center appears to have both strengths and significant areas of concern. The positive review suggests a caring and commendable staff. However, the detailed negative review raises serious questions about the standard of care in certain situations, including surgical procedures, communication with clients, and the handling of post-operative complications. The allegations of performing procedures without consent, using equipment improperly, and failing to adequately address surgical wounds and infections are particularly concerning for pet owners seeking reliable and safe veterinary care.

For local users in Fullerton and surrounding areas considering Sunnycrest Animal Care Center for their pet's needs, a careful evaluation of these contrasting experiences is crucial. While one customer praises the staff, the other recounts multiple incidents that led to a complete loss of trust. It would be advisable for potential clients to seek further information, perhaps by speaking with the hospital directly about their protocols, the qualifications of their staff for specific procedures (like laser surgery), and their approach to post-operative care and communication. Seeking testimonials from other pet owners or consulting with a trusted primary veterinarian for recommendations might also be beneficial.

In conclusion, Sunnycrest Animal Care Center in Fullerton, CA, functions as a local pet hospital offering a range of veterinary services. While one review highlights positive interactions with the staff, another detailed account raises serious concerns about the quality of surgical care, communication, and the handling of complications. Local pet owners should consider these differing perspectives and conduct thorough due diligence before entrusting their pets' health to this facility. Contacting Sunnycrest Animal Care Center directly at (714) 871-3000 or +1 714-871-3000 to discuss their services, staff qualifications, and patient care protocols would be a prudent step for anyone considering them as their pet care provider.

I’ve been bringing my cat Pickles here for two years and I’m so happy with their care! Everyone is so caring and remembers Pickles every time I bring her in. The facilities are great and I love the waiting room. If you’re looking for some place that truly cares about the wellbeing of your pet, this vet is it!

I can’t say enuf great things about Dr Glassberg and staff. The facility itself is fabulous and huge. Veterinary medicine, boarding, grooming…. Everything. The Drs are all incredible. I’ve been a client of Sunnycrest since 1994 and I’m very happy. Dr Alice is a terrific surgeon and the vet techs are truly pet lovers and always think of my dog first. Very highly recommended and I’m confident in the care provided is first class in every way.
