Do not like the male veterinarian. Sent my cat home and ended up passing away. Do not waste $600 on a blood test and an enema… meanwhile the enema didn’t even do anything and said to come back for another enema meanwhile the first one didn’t even do anything and didn’t even care to MAKE SURE IT WORKED THE FIRST TIME. The ladies in the office were sweet. This day and age sucks… all about money and BS.

I am so happy I found this quaint Vet’s office! Even though there is a small waiting area, the team does their best to get you in and out fast. A few days ago a bump appeared on my dogs leg and quickly festered into an ulcer. I called for an appointment and was seen that evening… they have new hours and are open until 10:00pm! The ulcer looked real bad and possibly cancerous. Doctor J took Gemma in immediately and performed the surgery! Same day! She was home by 9:30 pm! Thank you Sun and Surf team! 🩷

I’ve been thinking about writing this review for years now and I think I can finally do it. If I could give him less than a star, I would. About three years ago, I brought my cat to Sun-Surf due to a moderate-to-severe heart murmur and cardiac-related fainting episodes that were increasing in frequency. Upon the first visit, the vet told me nothing could be done to help him and to just “keep him calm.“ He repeatedly emphasized to not bother with a cardiologist because they couldn’t help and it would be a waste of my money. (He seriously said that) Now I love my cat dearly and as the episodes became more frequent, I took him back a few weeks later. It was at this visit where the vet decided to give me the “honest truth.” He told me that my cat should’ve died weeks ago after that first visit and certainly should’ve died in the car on the way to the second. He basically said he was expecting to walk in and find a body. To his shock, my cat was still alive. He then reiterated that there was zero chance to help my cat and nothing could be done. The vet told me my cat was certainly going to die and not make it to his next birthday that was less than a month away. I tried asking about potential solutions and he was almost aggressive in shutting down and crushing my hopes. He also continued to lecture me so thoroughly about how nothing could be done- especially by a cardiologist (not sure what he has against them, but he especially emphasized that not a single one could help). To top it off, the front desk even gave me information for a cremator on the way out. I was absolutely distraught and brought to tears after that second visit. Despite this, I decided to ignore his opinion and took my cat to a hospital with a cardiologist anyways. One echo later and I was told he had moderate heart disease, along with his bad heart murmur. Despite these troubling diagnoses, my cat has seen three birthdays since our last visit to Sun-Surf and is thriving. I give him a cheap pill twice a day that I have shipped to my doorstep and flavored to taste like chicken because it is THAT cheap and he hasn’t had a fainting episode since. He gets a yearly check up with his cardiologist and this medicine has done such a good job, vets haven’t heard his heart murmur in years! There’s also almost no visual signs of his heart disease on the echos (trust me, there were a lot in the beginning) and essentially my cat is expected to live happily for years. As a whole, if I listened to this vet, my cat would have died years ago. What really gets me is that despite him expecting my cat to die after that first visit, he didn’t bother mentioning that and instead said my cat just needed to be “kept calm”. He also convinced me to get his annual shots done that day (I assume it was an attempt to get as much money as possible before my cat supposedly died). In my opinion- sure the vaccinations there are cheap, but I wouldn’t trust him for anything remotely more than that.

DO NOT TAKE YOUR ANIMALS HERE!!!! You will be lied to and taken advantage of. I brought my cat in to get checked out for constipation. He had x-rays taken and we were told he was not constipated but had an obstruction in his bladder (Stones). We were told we had up to 24 hours to get our cat emergency surgery that would cost us $2000 or he would be too far gone. After taking him home to decide what we could do we decided we were going to wait an extra day and bring him to be put down since there was no way we could afford the surgery. The day we decided we had to euthanize, we heard him have a very strong and long normal pee. Our cat was acting 100% normal and USING THE BATHROOM TOTALLY NORMAL besides the constipation. We decided we needed a second opinion. When calling Sun Surf to have my cats X-rays and records sent to the new vet we were given attitude and even hung up on. Eventually his records were sent but they refused to send the doctors notes. At the second doctor the vet told us there are zero signs of a urinary obstruction and he was just constipated. The doctor went on to show us what stones look like in the bladder of a feline and in my cats x rays there was nothing even close to what we were looking at. To me this just shows the vet at Sun Surf chose to completely misdiagnose my cat and not even on accident at that. They also labeled my feline (cat) as a canine (dog) on his x rays. This place has no right to blatantly lie to people about their pets and charge for very expensive unnecessary surgery’s. They know people would do anything for their animals and take advantage of that and it’s SICK!! Edit: We were finally sent the doctors notes and they contradict what we were verbally told. There were 2 people in the room who heard the exact same words being said “Urinary obstruction”. There is no reason the notes should say anything different than what diagnosis was told to us, there was a different diagnosis verbally and written and both were incorrect. This further proves my point of them lying.

This was the best place before.it sold The vet was the best and honest with you about what was best for your pet It was very reasonable on the money. Since it's sold all they are is about the money.$$$ . Took in a 17-year-old dog and I rescued he was blind and deaf he had a cough so they told me right off it was his heart but would not give me any medicine till they performed multiple tests never once mentioned the quality of his life or if they could help it add heart problems and it collapsed trachea instead of telling me that is life would be no good he gave me a bill for $800 and a couple bottles of Medicine never once mentioned his age or how long he would last it's been 2 months I'm spend another hundred on pills and he ain't no better. So I called her About his quality of life and putting him down And it was still an outrageous amount I never used anybody else here But I called another vet And they were 75% cheaper. Find a better place I hate to say this cuz I really like the place before.
