I was very happy with the whole appointment. They took the time to answer all of my questions and didn't inflate my bill by insisting on running unnecessary test. I was given written prescriptions so that I could find more affordable medications elsewhere, which was still $100 for all three scripts. I will happily bring back both of my dogs more frequently because I can afford the $85 office visit but I can't afford a $300 office visit that most of the other places are charging. Dr. Julie St. Peters has been a wonderful and caring Vet and the staff are wonderful too. I highly recommend Stonecrest Animal Hospital. đŸŸ

People tend to read these reviews more than the good but this one star was simply because 0 stars wasn’t available. We went to this place originally looking for a new vet since our old vet was diagnosed with a rare condition leaving him blind and we needed a new vet. Our young female Frenchie needed a spay, and we went here for the surgery. The team seemed nice, they were attentive to our wants with our dog, and I even told them I hate being “sold” procedures for profits on our pets. That didn’t stop them, and this is where I should have trusted my gut. I was aggressively told to buy pet insurance for my dogs spay, although it wouldn’t actually save me any money it would end up costing me 268.00 dollars more after 12 months (long formula go see for yourself how they explain it’s but it’s a pay less now pay more later scheme) I turned it down. I would (and my pet) would be punished for this decision. Surgery day came and we dropped her off at 7am told she would be done no later than 130. I went down at 140 and she had not been even seen yet! We fasted her, and woke up early and informed they were behind schedule. They quickly performed a procedure, where they called us while she was under anesthesia and told us that they are struggling to get her spay completed and would need to bill us for more to continue to keep her under. 5 hours past. We were called in a frenzie and told to come get our dog with minutes to spare after hours before they close. Not even enough time for her to come out the medication. We picked up our dog with a 6 inch incision on her stomach that is larger than most Great Dane incisions on a French bulldog, and her nose bleeding profusely from the “sold” nostril procedure to help her breathing. This whole procedure costed us north of 2100.00 dollars. Yep
a 500 dollar procedure at best costed us over 4 times the amount because we upset them by not purchasing heart worm treatments and pet insurance. The pictures below show partial of our dogs incision which extends completely to her vagina. It’s the most gnarly scar you have ever seen and she still whimpers in pain if we pick her up wrong. The second picture is a piece of her nose falling off (left side) they attempted to suture back on. One side of her nose is bigger than the other now since they snipped it off at the follow up procedure. The damage is done what’s the point of going after these people right? This place will haunt us for years to come as one of the worst decisions we cannot undo. I have invoices for anyone interested, and ZERO remorse or attempts (calls, texts, emails) to remedy this situation from Stonecrest. I have spoken to several other professionals and long standing vets in this valley and they all shook their head and just told me they were sorry this was the worst case of highway robbery they had ever seen. Don’t be like us. Go to the humane society for your treatments this place will mutilate your animals if you don’t buy the extras.

I’ve taken my 2 dogs here for a few years and they’ve been good overall. But today
I took my dog in for his 4th valley fever blood draw follow up. They took him back, drew blood, and decided to add a second blood test onto my bill without telling me about it before or during the visit. $205 extra
no big deal! Not professional at all. I’ve been dealing with these valley fever tests and medication for over a year, worrying about upselling your customers in situations like this is pretty messed up. Highly doubt I’ll be returning with either of my dogs ever.

Stonecrest has been the vet for my cats since 2011. The practice has always been professional and efficient in their care. Their compassion for my pets was important as they treated them with affection and concern to my feelings. They helped me go through the five months with my Siamese who developed an enlarged heart. Drs. Melhaus and St. Peters care was excellent and my cat lived a quality life up to her last days before her situation became too critical and end of life care was necessary. I cannot thank them enough for their guidance and compassion.

I just moved to Scottsdale and my sweet Terrier, Pickles, injured his leg. Having not yet searched for a vet, I frantically started going through nearby vets and their reviews. I feel like I found a goldmine in the team at Stonecrest Animal Hospital. Every person I interacted with made me feel heard. They took exceptional care of Pickles! I appreciated that they were upfront with costs. Treatment was a conversation of options; of which I was included. I highly recommend the amazing team of James, Eryn, Amanda and Dr Kirklin. I think we've found our new vet!
