Had the best experience today with Dr. Mandel and his staff when I had to bring in my ball python for a check up after a run-in with our kitten. Everyone was kind and Dr. Mandel is super knowledgeable. I enjoyed listening to him share some anecdotes from his own reptile-keeping days. The best time I’ve had at a vet visit. Thank you all!

I had a chicken with an impacted crop. They saw me the very next day, did surgery to clear her crop of the long pine needles she had eaten and then called twice over the next week to ask about her progress. That was a month ago. She is as healthy as she can be, and I’m forever grateful for Dr. Mandel.

True caring humans that are concerned with the health of your loved ones. Not a pill factory just trying to sell u whatever flea treatment or food they have posters of n the lobby . If a genie appeared and granted me 3 wishes Max Mandel covered them all. After the mess that Shenandoah animal clinic n Woodstock did to my dog he performed a miracle and gave me some precious time and moments with one of my dogs before his time came peacefully at home. THANK YOU SO MUCH!

If I could give this place zero stars, I would. 6 weeks ago, my 14 year old daughter took her leopard gecko in because she was concerned about her health. The Doctor didn't seem to know too much about geckos and deferred the majority of the appointment to his tech. The tech held her completely wrong. The gecko was actively trying to bite her because she was experiencing discomfort. They declared that she was perfectly fine and to "keep doing what we're doing." Unfortunately, the gecko began to get very lethargic, to which we were told that she was going into "hibernating mode." A couple of days ago, she started having seizures and we scheduled her an urgent appointment at a legitimate exotic animal vet. My daughter's sweet little gecko didn't make it to her appointment for tomorrow. She died today. I'm appalled that Stephens City Animal Hospital advertises itself as a provider of exotic animal services.

Upon walking in, the office was small and nothing fancy. I was bringing a parakeet in for what I was told was a tumor on her foot. It had recently grown extremely large and I could tell the bird was in pain. The vet looked at Bird... yes, Bird is my parakeet's name, and offered to remove it at that visit as I was coming from out of town. Vets that treat birds are not easy to find. I was ever so grateful for the vet's patience as well as that of all of his staff that jumped in to help. Even when Bird started to pick at the site causing it to bleed, the staff came running back in to get it under control..... literally running! I took Bird home and covered her in a dark area. The next day I put her back in her regular cage. She is eating and drinking, as well as swinging on her swing. I am ever so grateful to Doc and his crew! Oh, and this is how I found out that Bird was a female 😆
