Located at 716 Lowell Rd, Groton, MA 01450, USA, Starwood Veterinary Clinic stands out as a unique and highly praised "Pet Hospital" that emphasizes personalized and compassionate care for dogs, cats, and small pets. Under the experienced guidance of Dr. Greg Baran, who also holds additional education in Cardiology, Radiology, Ultrasonography, and Exotics, Starwood Veterinary Clinic offers a blend of in-clinic services and a highly convenient mobile veterinary service. This dual approach aims to cater to the diverse needs of pet owners in Groton and the surrounding communities, ensuring that quality veterinary care is accessible and comfortable for beloved animal companions. Their phone number is (978) 449-9900 or +1 978-449-9900.
Starwood Veterinary Clinic, while operating a physical location, places a significant emphasis on a personalized and comfortable approach to veterinary care, extending their services beyond the traditional clinic walls. The in-clinic environment, though not extensively detailed in public reviews, is designed to support the array of diagnostic and surgical services they offer, suggesting a clean, organized, and professional setting. However, a distinctive aspect of Starwood Veterinary Clinic is its highly valued mobile veterinary service. This service allows for veterinary care to be delivered directly to the pet's home, creating an environment that is often much less stressful for animals and more convenient for owners. Clients frequently highlight how this "vet that comes to your pet" service helps "avoid crowded offices and long waiting periods." This mobile aspect truly defines their "environment," transforming the pet's familiar home into the care setting, which greatly contributes to a comfortable and welcoming experience for anxious pets and their families. When care at the physical clinic is necessary, the aim is to replicate the personalized and compassionate atmosphere that is central to their philosophy.
Starwood Veterinary Clinic offers a comprehensive range of veterinary services, with a strong focus on both preventative care and addressing specific health concerns, adapting to the needs of individual pets and their owners. Their services include:
- Wellness Exams and Vaccinations: Core to their practice, these include routine comprehensive pet exams and essential vaccinations for both dogs and cats. For dogs, this covers Distemper, Rabies, Kennel Cough, and Lyme vaccines. For cats, services include Distemper, Rabies, and Leukemia vaccines.
- Mobile Veterinary Services / House Calls: A standout feature, Dr. Baran conducts house calls on Tuesdays and Thursdays in a wide service area including Billerica, Carlisle, Chelmsford, Dracut, Dunstable, Groton, Littleton, Lowell, Tewksbury, Tyngsboro, and Westford. This mobile service is ideal for wellness exams, routine vaccinations, and in-home diagnostics, proving to be less stressful for pets and incredibly convenient for owners.
- Dog & Cat Veterinary Care: Beyond routine care, they address a variety of common ailments and signs of trouble in pets, such as diarrhea, straining, vomiting, decreased activity, bad breath, or changes in appetite and behavior. They are equipped to provide prompt medical attention for both canine and feline companions.
- In-Home Diagnostics: The mobile service extends to performing diagnostic procedures in the comfort of your home, including ultrasound, blood pressure monitoring, EKG, and blood draws. They also offer cryo surgery for certain conditions at home.
- Full Hospital Services (through Nashoba Valley Veterinary Hospital affiliation): When more advanced care is necessary, Starwood Veterinary Clinic facilitates access to full hospital services. This includes a wide range of procedures such as surgery, endoscopy, digital radiology, EKG, echocardiogram, and ultrasonography, ensuring pets receive comprehensive care even for complex conditions.
- Testing: They offer essential tests like Fiv/Leuk/Hwt Test for cats (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus/Feline Leukemia Virus/Heartworm Test) and Heartworm/Lyme Test for dogs, crucial for early detection and prevention of serious diseases.
- Addressing Perplexing Issues: Clients appreciate their ability to diagnose and solve "perplexing issues," demonstrating a thorough and persistent approach to veterinary medicine.
Starwood Veterinary Clinic is consistently praised for several key features that create a highly positive and personalized client experience:
- Dr. Greg Baran's Expertise and Compassion: Dr. Baran is frequently highlighted in reviews for his exceptional knowledge, compassionate approach, and gentle handling. Clients express "complete trust" in him with their beloved pets, from routine checkups to complex surgeries. His additional education in specialized fields like Cardiology and Ultrasonography instills further confidence in his diagnostic and treatment capabilities.
- Personalized and Welcoming Experience: Clients describe feeling "so welcomed and comfortable," emphasizing an "amazing personalized experience." This is a significant differentiator from larger practices, where clients might feel rushed. The clinic's philosophy appears to be deeply rooted in treating every pet "like one of the family."
- Excellent Communication: "Great communication" is a recurring theme. The team ensures clients are well-informed, whether discussing treatment plans, explaining care, or providing follow-ups on test results. This open dialogue builds trust and empowers pet owners to be active partners in their pet's health.
- Convenience of Mobile Services: The mobile veterinarian service is a highly valued feature, especially for pets that are anxious in clinic settings or for owners with limited mobility or busy schedules. This "vet that comes to your pet" model significantly reduces stress for both animals and humans. Reviews praise the quick response and follow-up for house calls.
- Affordable Care: Clients have noted that Dr. Baran provides "dog and cat veterinary care that is purr-fect for you, your pet, and your wallet," indicating that the services are competitively priced and offer good value. This includes the cost of house calls, which some clients found to be more affordable than traditional vet visits.
- Trust and Reliability: Many clients have used Starwood for multiple pets over many years, indicating a long-standing relationship built on trust and consistent quality of care. The confidence clients place in Dr. Baran and his team is evident in their strong recommendations.
Starwood Veterinary Clinic promotes its services primarily through its dedication to personalized care, the convenience of its mobile service, and transparent pricing. While specific, time-limited promotions should always be confirmed directly, their approach includes:
- Competitive and Transparent Pricing: The clinic openly lists prices for core vaccines and tests on its website, such as $40 for Distemper and Rabies vaccines for both dogs and cats, and $70 for Fiv/Leuk/Hwt Test for cats, and $65 for Heartworm/Lyme Test for dogs. This transparency helps pet owners budget for routine care.
- Value for Mobile Services: The cost for house calls is listed at $100-$110, while office calls are $60. Many clients find the value of in-home care, considering the reduced stress and convenience, to be well worth the price, and some even find it more affordable than traditional clinic visits when factoring in potential travel time and stress-related issues.
- Focus on Preventative Health: By emphasizing wellness exams and vaccinations, they promote long-term health, which can lead to fewer costly emergency situations down the line.
- Online Engagement: Starwood Veterinary Clinic maintains an online presence and encourages interaction through platforms like Facebook, providing updates and engaging with the community.
- Accessibility: By offering both in-clinic and mobile services, they make veterinary care accessible to a broader range of pet owners, including those with transportation challenges or pets that do not travel well.

Jan 11, 2025 · carrie novielloDr Baran is very skilled and compassionate. Our very distrustful kitty was so calm and relaxed with him and allowed him to examine her with complete trust. He diagnosed her and treated her and her infection cleared up very quickly. I am eternally grateful. We thought we were going to lose her and we are so relieved.
Nov 12, 2023 · Beverly ChorbajianWe have been Starwood fans for over 25 years, Doctor Greg Baron and wife Tina are an excellent team and we are very happy with the level of care given to all our pets past and present . Sincerely Patricia Donahue
Feb 23, 2021 · Patty DiStefanoMy pets are my babies, I trust the advice and care of Starwood veterinary care. They don't service NH so I make the commute to them, knowing my pet is in great hands. Given my schedule they go above and beyond making an appointment that works for me.
